You mean. He was ignoring you and was just sitting there. And you slam your foot down whilst he casually sets off and has a little giggle at you when he realised what was going on before putting his foot down?

.................

Not the impression I got. He did seem to be in a bit of a hurry, hence being pulled over for speeding further along.

Now, that may very well be the case in the UK, I have no idea, I haven't driven an auto in the UK.

You wouldn't really get an auto here unless it had a price of £30k upwards, and then it would be a auto/manual hybrid anyway.

Very few manual-only vehicles made now.

No one was in there with him.

My point is that there is this big misconception that autos are very slow and laborious from a start.

Now, that may very well be the case in the UK, I have no idea, I haven't driven an auto in the UK.

But, it certainly isn't the case in the USA.

We've got 2 semi-auto (german) cars and in both cases putting it in manual allows you to accelerate quicker. One of them even has an 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Not saying that autos can't be fast of the mark mind you.

Actually. We have 3 semi-auto german cars but I've never driven/passenger...ed in it whilst using the manual transmission.

You can't have full control over revs in an auto... some over ride functions like sport/dynamic mode may allow you to take it near red lining it.

But then you're driving it in manual minus the clutch.

Manuals for me. Arab I struggled with manuals at first too especially hill starts. But you get used to them after a while. Never driven an automatic so wouldn't know how good the drive is but would like to try it.

I guess the older you get you tend to go towards automatic since oldies can't be bothered with their dodgy knees.

I get the impression that Arab probably wont ask for advice again.

"Guys I need advice about this bird I met, I think she's the one"

"Can she hold your coffee for you?"
