Could they go through the guts of a season in league one, as we have, without losing a game?

Thankfully we won't find out.

This Utd team are bang average. Rangers have the players, who if they raise their game from the standard that's required to beat league one sides, will swat them aside.

Ivan, answer the question...

Do you reckon the current Utd team could go through league one unbeaten?

Not a chance.

I see nothing that would lead me to believe otherwise.

Who do you think would have beaten us?

I think united fans on here seem overly confident (ivan)

tbh rangers do have the players I think are capable, like black, mcculloch, etc

it depends what untied team turns up tbh.

Keny, I am extremely confident going into this game. I'm not going to pretend anything else.

I'm not saying it's impossible for Rangers to win - it's just unlikely.

People keep saying Rangers will lift their game. It's a semi final - so will we. That should terrify them.

Outwith Celtic and Aberdeen, we have handed out at least one skelping (and I mean a proper pumping) to pretty much every team in the league.

I see no reason why we can't do the same to Rangers.

Coisty, your team seem to have managed going unbeaten with substandard players.

I think we'd fine.

*we'd be fine

problem there ivan is that you have had a few spankings as well.

naturally I want rangers to get humped, but I don't believe its a foregone conclusion

We've had three terrible results all season - a freak 4-1 against St Mirren when we were reduced to 10 men and got hit on the break (we should have actually won that game ffs), a 3-0 defeat from St Johnstone where we fielded our reserve side and a 3-0 defeat from Ross County that was just awful and was towards the end of our bad run.

Beyond that any defeat has been a narrow loss where we just didn't get the breaks.

Compare that to the pumpings:

4-0 St Johnstone
4-1 Partick
4-0 St Mirren
4-0 Motherwell
4-1 Partick
5-2 Killie
4-1 Hearts
4-1 Killie
5-0 Inverness

Plus a few 4-2's and 3-1's....

We also got a man sent off after 20 minutes against St Johnstone.

when you spend an embarassing amount of money its easy to go unbeaten against a bunch of part timers

Smid, 13 out of 29 - 8 draws, 8 defeats.

I should also point out that in our cup game against Dumbarton we did a bit of experimenting with a 3-5-2 formation (that didn't work) and played a number of different players, some of which are no longer at the club.

But you're right in principle - sometimes shocks happen and lower league teams can get the drop on the top flight side.

However, there is absolutely no chance of our team underestimating yours and I can assure you we'll be just as fired up as you guys are. These boys want to kiss silver in May.

i think on there day any of the SPL teams apart from Hearts would give Rangers a game

the 1 thing i'd say about all the SPL teams they all like to play football, that would hurt Rangers as there more 1 dimensional and are used to the same in there league (maybe Dunfermline aside)

im being serious

I think when Rangers move back up to the top league they'll find it difficult, it'll be hard to adjust to playing teams who have players who focus 100% on there football and dont have to wash cars n that during the day

Smid,

Do you not think that perhaps there will be a nervousness about Rangers in this game.

As you say, this game will pretty much define your season. There will be an expectancy and pressure on the players that very few of them have really experienced before.

I'm not convinced that they'll have it in them to cope.

I think that the match being played at ibrox in front of mostly rangers fans will have an effect tbh.

I also think rangers have players capable of stepping up.

cups are funny, united may be favourites here but that means nothing in cup games.
