Why does Barton's opinion suddenly matter?

IMO while Rooney on occasion looks like a world class player, he does not do it regularly enough to be considered “world class”

That said same can be said of a certain Swede who “dared” not to turn up last night.

Just cottoned-on that Joey?

Whats up with the little mo ng now? Not getting enough attention?

I agree with what he has said, but I dont want Joey Barton taking up any license fee payer time or money. He was even given 2 minutes at half time during the six nations FFS!

Yeah, he does have a Point.
Don't see CR& or Messi with a Cig in their mouths...
not that i think Rooney's a 60 a day man or anything, obviously not... but Discipline and Sacrifice are usually the keys to Greatness.
for me, Rooney is just on the cusp of greatness, definately one of the best british players to come along in a long time

...............

It is very hard to argue with this opinion.

The thing is the same can be said for Zlatan. But it wonm'y becaise he isn't English.

There are times he often looks very ordinary, and then he will score three outrageous goals in one game.

That time has gone now. He looks, in my opinion, to be in physical decline. I cant remember him dominating a game for a long long time.

Is he going to be the next rent a gob to be picked up by the BBC? What a great trio him, Savage and Crooks will make.

Firstly, Joey barton is an idiot.

But he is right, Rooney is a very good player, not world class. It definitely seemed like he could go onto be when he was younger but he's never fulfilled that potential IMO. You just have to look at Suarez this season to see a player who is performing at a world class level and it is a level I have never seen Rooney come close to.

Well, it is your opinion.

He hasn't looked in physical decline to us. Well at least not the rational ones among us.

It was reported by Vidic at the start of the season that Wazza was in better shape than he had been for quite some time.

fffs nobody is comparing him to Messi and Ronaldo.
But he has consistently performed for Man United now for 10 seasons, will end up highest scorer in United history no doubt. Never has a player had so much expectation permanently on his shoulders since Gazza in this country. He is a tremendous selfless footballer, a natural. Yes he may not have that precocious pace and explosiveness he had as a teenager but his all round game is invaluable.
It's the reason why Mourinho wanted him. He is now playing in a very average United team too but is still the top assist man in the CL and has a decent return in the PL of goals and assists. A very very good player and so what if he is not described as great by a nobody like Barton.

He's looked fitter than ever this season and still regularly covers more ground that every player on the pitch.

Hate to agree with such a bel/end but he's right.

Rooney isn't world class, never has been and never will be. He's always been a fair way off but he has produced rare moments of genuine brilliance.

rooney is world class

Won't disagree with his opinion. Rooney is capable of world class moments, probably not enough to be considered 'World Class'. But how do you define it and where do you draw the line?

If Ronaldo and Messi are the benchmark, and everyone else is quite some way behind them, can anyone else really be considered 'World Class'?

He's adapted his game over the years, he has definitely lost that acceleration he has when he was younger but he doesn't really need it right now although I do think his body will struggle to keep at the top level of fitness over the next 5 or so years.

A tedious cliche

He's fitter than he's been in a while and runs himself into the ground every game

Odds on to break both Sir Bobby's club and national goal scoring records

People think he isn;t world class just because his feet don;t dribble like Ronaldo or Messi

His contribution to United's successes have been massive and some of the memories he has given us over the years are so easily forgotten, the latest of which was only a couple of weeks ago

Why is Barton considered an expert in football?

If we wanted advice on thuggery, we would go to him.

That may be but he looks like he has lost a yard of pace, certainly in the first five yards. I wasnt implying that he was going to be needing a remote control wheelchair to get around the pitch anytime soon but from what I've seen (no doubt less than you have) he looks a little less pacey.

Could've been, fergie took away much that was great about his game.
