Like i said few weeks ago. With us not being in europe has levelled the playing feild against the massive squads of city chelsea and man u ited and arsenal to some extent

You cannot say that for certain. Where Liverpool have improved is they have taken care of the bread and butter games which they consistently dropped points in the last few years.

I am not saying they would not have won it, but this season their players have concentrated completely on their game and have been better at beating the mid-table teams. It is not so simple when you are in Europe. Places like the Britannia and Carrow Road can cause you problems if your players' minds are on that mid-week game against Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

Manchester City for example lost to Wigan shortly before a crucial game against Barcelona, it is not the point about tiredness but for me mentality.

Although players claim they treat every game the same, a lot of them don't.

Liverpool deserve to be where they are, their players have been brilliant and their manager has also been excellent.

,,,"why are we so desperate as fans to be in the CL? "

Football is a million business. Simple. Its all aobut money in football. Have absolute nothing to do with attracting players. If you pay you can buy all players in the world. Not depending on CL League football.

Goofy One

No can't buy that one mate others may have stronger squads but squad players aren't as strong as the main ones hence their roles. Playing your best XI weekly is a mass advantage to having to tinker with a larger squad

Again it will be hats off if you win it but you have had an advantage you have to accept that truth

I keep hearing Wenger does not try to win the Champions League, for me that's ridiculous. I just do not think he has been capable of winning such a competition because he consistently makes mistakes throughout the tournament: the worst of them being in the Group Stages where he should be doing better in trying to top his group given that he is the pot one side.

I understand why it's important to the club and the brand (to a certain extent) to be playing CL football, it's what the Arsenal fans who think Liverpool are benefiting this entirely from no CL football get out of the experience I was questioning. Why do they care so much about getting into a competition we have no chance of winning when not being in it would, according to their theory, would help us massively in a competition we actually could win?

Is winning the FA Cup better for Europa League qualification than finishing 5th?

Agree with Henrik, its not as simple as saying 6 extra games a season.

As our most recent example, people complained when tottenham outplayed us, but nobody noticed we had to stick with the same gameplan as against Bayern a few days earlier.

Because there wasnt much time to practice a new set up, different tactics.

I still give credit to Liverpool, arsenal would not be in the position they are in if the situations were reversed.

I agree with Herbie's points !

Arsenal played 2 CL games this season and it hasn't affected their league form in a positive way.

The season runs from August 2013 to May 2014...
The effects of 8 extra games in the first half of the season have their effect later on in the season.

Liverpool's path to success is quite simple. Speed kills.

A lesson to any mangers who have strayed from the path that have got them success in the past.

Did anybody give atletico a prayer of the la liga title and champions league after selling falcao?
How have they managed to cope with all these extra games despite having such a small, inexpensive squad?
Seems to me that the calls about European football hampering league form are what people would "like" to think will happen as opposed to reality

La Liga is a very different league.
Plus in La Liga you wouldn't have to play Sunday afternoon, Wednesday evening away to Napoli and then Saturday early kick off away to Manchester City!! Their league actually help their European participants with fixture congestion.

What a weak excuse.....much like the whole non European football excuse for Liverpool.

How is it either weak or an excuse. It is fact.

Didn't Chelsea play in Europe on Wednesday night and then smacked Arsenal 6-0 at early kick off on Saturday.

posted on 13/4/14

It's not a fact.
You have generalised the whole of la liga as being easier and more accommodating, thus making it more able for teams to compete at home and abroad.
An extra 6-10 games makes no difference if:
A) you escape lots of injuries

And

B) you add to the squad with the extra money you get

The whole "mental" Carp that people are coming out with is just tagging on to the tired mind games of Maureen

It's only a problem if they lose!!

Where did I say it was easier? I said different. Two concepts that are not descriptive of the other.

Ok, different in what way?

They play a similar amount of games per season and I bet atletico have played a few more domestic cup games than us as we'll this year.
In fact, atletico are the PERFECT example as to why CL football will not cause us to suddenly tumble down the table.
The added draw it will bring will strengthen us and anyone who thinks otherwise, looks extremely bitter grasping those straws

Spot on OP

The levels of bitterness/jealousy among many Arsenal fans is an embarrassment. Liverpool are playing the best football in the League and doing it on far less of a budget than their title rivals. Showing what Arsenal COULD do if they weren't so rudderless.
