He's overrated if anything.
Great player but every time City play well him and Kompany get overstated compared to other players on the day.
Haven't seen the whole quotes but he's pretty deluded and arrogant, to be honest if he thinks he can consider himself in the same bracket as Messi and Ronaldo.
Yaya should have other things on his mind, his trophy haul is nothing like Messis or Ronaldos
Hes getting more than enough recognition, all that should concern him is winning trophies for City
Toure, who has played in Belgium, Russia, Greece, France, Spain and now England, says he will be disappointed if he is not named player of the year by the Professional Footballers' Association.

I think you can give that one up mate
I have always rated him quite highly, but I don't think there are many players at the level of Ronaldo and Messi.

Ronaldo has won 12 major trophies, Yaya has won 10....12 if you include his trophies in Greece, He's not on their level I agree but please get your facts right, Ronaldo has underachieved if anything
The man is a deluded fool, not a bad player, but get real joker .
Depends how the rest of the world rate him. Hes highly rated here in the UK?
Two seasons ago, when City won the PL, Yaya Toure, for me, was one of the best, if not the best player in the PL. last season, with injuries, he faded. This season, he just isn't as good as he was. Still a great player, but the spark has gone.

Yaya Toure is probably the most well rounded out of the lot though.
Plus I would say is that mentally and physically he is stronger than Messi and Ronaldo. They probably have more pace than him though.
He is feels victimised when actually he is probably not in reality. But given Africa's history you can see where this mentality has probably come from unfortunately.
I think he's a quality player and should be in with a shout for the PFA award - which he effectively is by being nominated, although obviously Suarez will win it. But he's not quite in the same league as Ronaldo and Messi (and Bale...).
Do some people still regard Africans as 'animals not human beings'? Probably sadly there are people like that.
Does that mean he is undervalued as a player overall? No, because most people aren't racist, I don't think. Most people will happily celebrate him if he excels above Messi and Ronaldo.
He's also completely wrong to use the fact that 'Messi is recognised in Africa, therefore Yaya should be recognised in Europe'. That has absolutely nothing to do with the argument. Man City are not in Barca's league; Ivory Coast are not in Argentina's league. Messi is more widely recognised because he's an exceptional talent (more so than Yaya, for sure), he plays for perhaps the most widely known club in the world at the moment and internationally Argentina have a big history at World Cups too, compared to the less celebrated Ivory Coast.
Final point, there is some media spin here too. He will be disappointed if he doesn't win? If you read what he actually said, it sounds like he'll be sad because he always aims to win, not "disappointed" in the sense that he deserves to win but for racism...
And at the top of the article it says he "feels countryman Didier Drogba and Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o are also undervalued because they are African" but if you read what he actually said at the bottom, he said that he knew that THEY felt under-appreciated. It's a subtle but important difference. Makes him seem more whiny than he is. In his own words:
"I am very proud to be African, I want to defend African people and I want to show to the world that African players can be as good as the Europeans and South Americans."
I think we can all agree with that.
Given that he is alleged to have said this in the context of being one of the final six contenders for PFA FOTY, I don't think it will have done his chances much, if any, good when the voting begins.

Actually the point is that Yaya won trophies with Barca and Ronaldo with United. Spain until this season has been a 2 team league, would Messi have won as many trophies had he played in the prem? Not so sure about that but it would obviously depend on the team he played for and there's the rub. Yaya has consistently won trophies over a number of countries and continents. Messi and Ronaldo have only played for the top teams in the leagues they have played in.
Would Barca and R. Madrid still win without Messi and Ronaldo? Yes they would but City without Yaya would be weaker as has just been proven and thin in a stronger league.
He is feels victimised when actually he is probably not in reality. But given Africa's history you can see where this mentality has probably come from unfortunately.

Football is a team game, so to mainly use trophies won as a way to compare individual players is wrong.
Very overrated from opposition fans in general

i think personally he's let away with a lot at city, he was the worker at barca and they got shut. well more accurately he jumped at the massive wage.... he's good but when he went off city improved v us.
however simply put.... he's not that good and neither are city so until he inspires a league win and a cl run at city.... who should take notice?
At this moment in time he's won more League and CL medals than Liverpool in the last 7 years
He still the best midfielder in the PL followed by Silva thats all that matters to me.
Completely ignorant comment to make. That's paranoia more than anything. The reason why Messi is more known is because he is one of the greatest of all time. It isn't compatible. Yaya is on the level of Schweinstieger. City aren't as well known as Barcelona. Poor comments at a poor time. He has a title to worry about
