Interesting stat. In the 3 league games we've played without Matip we've conceded 9 goals (Arsenal, Burnley, Bournemouth). This is the same number of goals that we've conceded in the 11 games he has played.

Klopp confirms he has 'no idea' when Sturridge will be back.

He suggests it won't be before Everton.

My patience is really running out. Brilliant on his day, probably the best finisher in the squad, but the fact remains hes one of our top paid players and hasn't actually contributed anything this season. The money could be much better used elsewhere.

"The media have an influence but I don't know why because when he does play he scores goals. I think the problem for Daniel is the players playing ahead of him are playing tremendous and scoring lots of goals.

"Jurgen Klopp said last week that no players will be going so we'll take his word for it. But look, a fit and firing Daniel Sturridge is top quality and we want top quality players at this club and we want him to remain."

Robbie Fowler

"For me he's a major part for Liverpool football club. He's probably the most gifted finisher we have. He's a fantastic player, fantastic finisher and I'm sure when he's fit he'll make himself available. You've got Mane going away to the AFCON in January and I think Daniel Sturridge will play a major part in Liverpool's run in."

Ian Rush

So then again....what do I know

Rather predictable re Sturridge, called it the moment Klopp said he wasn't in training. We won't see him this side of new year.

He really should join Arsenal.

They love a 2 week injury that turns into 6 months out.

Who pays the extra pound?

I'll probably get slated for saying this but I'd swap Sturridge for Giroud if the opportunity arose.

Is Giroud a better player than Sturridge? Never in a million years. But Giroud has double figures in every season for Arsenal and if he'd be content with a squad role he would add something very different to Origi and Firmino if we needed a goal in the last fifteen minutes of a game.

posted on 9/12/16

Nah don't think Giroud would suit us at all to be honest.

Be like Zlatan at Barca. He wasn't bad but it didn't really work compared to how Zlatan has done at his other clubs.

We need movement in our forwards, perpetual motion almost. That's why we struggle relatively with Sturridge in games where he feels a bit injured and doesn't run about.

Carragher was here at Liverpool for a long time so maybe after the game he was a bit frustrated,’ said Karius. ‘He is probably still a supporter. I have to accept it.
‘What critics say right after the game, I don’t know what I think. If you asked them again would they say it now?
‘And I don’t care what Gary Neville said. He was a manager for a short bit and now he is back to being an expert again.
‘But he is always very critical. I think he does it to everyone. I just hope that when I do well he will comment on that. We will see in the future.’

Big game tomorrow.

Need a good performance and win to dust off the Bournemouth cobwebs.

Chance to put a gap between ourselves and City, who play Arsenal next weekend too which right now looks like an Arsenal win.

Hoping Spurs will draw at Utd as well tomorrow. Looks like a draw written all over it really.

Yeah a win tomorrow would put us back on track, fingers crossed.

A really important quickfire period with 9 points available within 7 days, how well you are able to cope with them often decides where you end up in May.

Cheer up Bill, we'll be fine. City/Utd/Spurs look just as bad as us at the moment and we were never going to win the league this season.
