I assume most people not named TOOR expect him to leave at this point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m 50-50 tbh. I still think if we offer him a mega-contract, Salah’esk, then he stays.

Probably hasn’t hurt that he’s recently seen his best mate booed by the RM crowd for an indifferent start to the season. Nice demonstration of what their fans are actually like.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think like most contract negotiations with top players and their clubs when a compromise is met, he signs. There are two sides, both want the best for themselves, if he wants to stay he compromises, if the club want him to stay, they compromise. If he wants to leave he doesn't, if the club don't want him to stay(which of course is ridiculous) they don't.

Obviously the club need to make more of a compromise as either they left it too late or they've spent ages trying to compromise and it hasn't worked which puts the player in the strongest position. A common tactic I use is to draw it out until a contract is nearly finished, tell the people I actually want us to sign with that there are offers from others better than what I'm being offered then get as close to that as possible and sign. I'm sure this is also the same tactic players and/or their agents use as its a tried and tested method.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Agreed. One thing I would say is that if we’re trying to get him cheap(‘ish) then I think he’ll leave. If we’re competing with RM for his signature, which seems to be the thinking, then we need to be paying him as such. I just don’t think going lower and trying to trade on his love for the club will work. He’s not Zubi.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is also a huge signing on fee worth millions which probably won't be offered in a contract extension

So how we all feeling about the game tomorrow?

Will be very tough injuries or not. I’d take your hand off for a draw so I’m gonna go with a1-1 prediction.

Obviously a win would be a prelude to shex wee
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we have a few more gears to move through and we’ll see a bit more with better opposition. Win for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope so. Personally i think theyll use the everyone against us thing and injuries to prove a point and be well up for it like a cup final. I dont think we will match it over 90mins.

Big test for us will see how ready and up for it/hungry this season we really are today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hate saying it before a game but the referee worries me. He's always been poor for us, which being from Machester isn't a surprise but for some reason he's refereed Liverpool more than any other club and we have a paltry 55% win record with him in charge.

I always feel with him it's the things he doesn't give rather than what he does give, under the pretense of a high bar for the big games.

hes quite even tbf arsenal have 60 % under him utd 58 % and city 56 %, idk how a team as bad as utd have been has a higher win % than city and Arsenal bt this particular prem clown of a ref usually takes the big ties? so maybe utd games are lesser opposition?

hes reffed us 10 times more than the next closest Chelsea. prem only ours is 55 % Arsenals 54.55% in 16 games less.

Well that makes me feel a bit better i suppose.

hes reffed us 16 times more but hes sent 3 players off for us, 2 second yellows both vs Arsenal away Can and Konate we lost 4-1 and 3-1 and a red away at blackburn for Doni 0-2 up a last min andy carroll winner rescued a 2-3 win if anyone remembers?

Arsenal have had 6, 3 double yellows. 16 pens for us 7 for them.

Crazy that those used to be red. The opposition get almost a guaranteed goal and the other team down to ten.

We must have one of the best records of not losing when going down to 10 men. I remember 2 games against Everton which we won. Newcastle last year. That Blackburn game example.
