What is everybody’s thoughts about Nunez after the performances against Chelsea and City?
Unfortunately for me he just doesn’t look remotely like a top striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's got all the qualities you'd look for. He's big, strong, quick, good in the air but he struggles with reading the game to get in to those positions to score the goals. not to mention 90% of women understand the offside rule better than him.
I don't think he's going to be that 20 goal a season striker for us, which is a real shame as i like him.

He actually played quite well
I guess the good thing is, we'll always be having this discussion thanks to Jota

I thought he was good against Arsenal and showed his all round game is improving when he didn't try to shot but instead laid it on a plate for Salah with a good assist.
His game against Chelsea was also a good one, as he put himself about and pressed well. His chances were few and far between in both games as we didn't create much for him.
He hasn't started the season in the first team and not had many opportunities until Jota's injury but has recently come alive when he's got the opportunity.
So far for Liverpool he's underperformed his xgs but this season whilst we don't have many minutes to work with he's outperforming it.
Way too early to tell this season as he's had limited opportunities but I'm not sure how you can judge him negatively.
Personally I think he can be a 30 goals a season striker but not only that, he does a lot more than just goals for his team. It has to happen this season for him, as being new to the league and being a rough diamond can't be used as an excuse anymore.
I've no doubt he'd have more goals had he started the season against the weaker teams but judging him against the two best teams we've faced when he had extremely limited chances is unfair, especially considering he did everything else expected of him in those games apart from score.
Team for Brighton thoughts?

We can't risk Trent cos he's apparently playing with a slight knock. Bradley might not be back so whoever is in the youth team needs to come in.

Agree with all this, I feared for him beginning of this season but he's taken his minutes well since and is doing a great job for the team.
It is notable how little we're creating for him though, quite strange that. Diaz and Gakpo will cut-in and shoot all the time and the chances Salah are creating just aren't falling to Nunez for whatever reason.
Minor thing but I'm glad he didn't react when Badiashile pushed him over in the Chelsea game - he fell over smiling which was mature of him I thought, not like he red against Fulham years ago
Maybe that'll change when Elliot is back creating in the middle
Also we were potentially one Endo ball away from Nunez having a chance on goal and potentially winning against Arsenal

Van Dijk, Salah and Trent should start.
Jota not back till after the international break now ffs. He’s really getting on my t*ts now how injury prone he is.
On Chiesa: "It's difficult to say [when he'll return] because he goes a bit up and down, sometimes trains with us and then goes out with an injury again."

Rince and repeat loop with Jota. Starts well, gets injured, takes a few games to find fitness, finds fitness, gets injured.
Him and Alisson always get injured for long periods at crucial parts of the season. Just waiting for Konate now to complete the set.

hes made of weetabix, thats twice now someones landed on him and broke him for months. i mean should you be playing sport if you get injured so easily? hes like samuel L facking jackson in breakable.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot on possible squad rotation for the match: "I don't think it's possible to do the same as we did against West Ham for the simple reason that we've got some injuries so we don't have enough players to change them all, if I wanted that.
"I think if you look at our schedule and the amount of times we have less days to recover apart from our opponent, it might be a moment for us to see some other players but I first have to see how fit everybody is."
Yep get used to it Slot, maybe ask for more backing from the owners?
The shortest turnaround in world football for years now, they'll never change it so we have to prepare for it. Get a bigger squad, simple.

A fully fit Jota is argubaly are best striker, however he's fast becoming another Sturridge!
Depending oh what type of season both Jota and Nunez have, I think we may need to sign a new striker next summer
He also needs a lot of games to get match fit after an injury too.
People saying he misses a month of the season every year to play fifa lol. Wouldn’t surprise me.
Feels like we have a lot of players in the squad who you can guarantee will be out for at least a couple of months every season.
Alisson, Jota, Konate, Trent, Jones, Chiesa, Gomez all fall into that category.
Nunez and Robertson are regularly picking up niggles. Macca similar with the amount of games and travelling he has to do for both club and country.
Elliott seems to have bad luck with impact injuries.
All adds up when we already have a small squad- we're always going to have an injury problem.

We actually have 2 very good 11s but because Slot loaned out pretty much all of the kids, we’ve not got very much depth when we do start to get injuries.
And as you said and everyone knows, we have very injury prone players unfortunately, even with the intensity not as much with Klopp gone.
At least Bradley is back so we can rest Trent.
At some point you do have to question the Chiesa signing considering Jota is injury prone. Not a good start from Hughes.
We've only registered a 23 man squad so theres room there to add 2 more anyway? But also maybe think of replacing some of these injury prone for less injury prone players. Maybe stop taking gambles on players like Chiesa too even if they are dirt cheap, its usually for good reason.
