Plymouth in the FA cup it is. That's a hell of a journey home for their fans to make on a Sunday afternoon.

Hart and Draxler linked today. Both unlikely.

Has anyone seen much of Draxler? The few times I've seen him play he hasn't justified the hype.

Don't know, could be another young player that might flourish under German manager Klopp.

Liverpool are considering rivalling Paris Saint-Germain for Julian Draxler, the Germany international.

Jürgen Klopp has identified Draxler, who is set to leave Wolfsburg, as a potential January target as he looks to boost his attacking options.

The issue will be the fee, with Wolfsburg having paid Schalke £30 million for him in August 2015 as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne when he joined Manchester City.

PSG appear in pole position for the 23-year-old midfielder, who had a transfer request rejected in the summer, but Liverpool look likely to test the water, with Klopp having the deciding say on moving for Draxler, a World Cup winner with Germany.

Klopp had also looked at Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, but his former club refuse to sell the young American.

Really not sure if it's likely but if we do sign him and he turns out decent the Gooners will be suicidal. They've been linked to him for years.

If PSG are in pole position then forget it.

Not necessarily Kash. They're having a bad season (3rd in the league) by their standards and Klopp may be a big enough draw to tempt a German player to join us over them.

There's a lot of competition in that PSG midfield too in Di Maria, Lucas, Ben Arfa, Rabiot and Pastore plus more holding-type midfielders in Matuidi, Veratti and Krychowiak (sp?).

He is a talented player but he would cost around £36m and that is a lot of money for an unproven player.

Klopp would be the best man to get the best out of him.

Watching the gooner melt down if we signed him would be hilarious though

Is he that good anyway? Ok stats in his first season at Wolfsburg, not much better than that.

Wolfsburg currently languishing 13th in the bundesliga, not averse to getting rid by the sounds of things either.

Just the 23 appearances in the league last year, and just 44 appearances in his final three seasons at Schalke. That's Sturridge-level injury proneness.

Klopp could easily turn him into the top player many thought he could be. Then again he easily could not.
A compelling argument as any to not sign him as to sign him imo.

Only rumours anyway I guess

What do we need in Jan?

Someone who can come in and provide what Mane does = Promes.

What else?

Unproven in the Prem maybe. You certainly couldn't call him unproven though.

I meant the premier league.

Klopp doesn't spend big unless it is proven i.e. Mane. He likes to buy players to develop from what I have seen and our owners got him for that reason as they don't want to spend big on players like Utd - Chelsea - City

Let's face it, Klopp will buy some unknown 18 year old striker from the Polish second division and in 5 years time he'll be our first choice left back.

And what's wrong with that

If he turns out to be a good LB then it will have been an astute signing

I'd rather sign Lucas Moura if we could although Draxler has mad skillz innit.

Consistency seems to be something Klopp can get from his players though although I can see it's a risk as he would cost a fair but but....

Can dribble, pass, good technically, great technique and can play left or right.

We also have a good few of his countrymen here.

I doubt it could be done in January but I do think he'd fit well.

Another issue with Draxler for me would be he is left sided primarily or central. He's hardly played on the right in his career (doesn't mean he couldn't).

It's really the right side of the attack where we need more depth as we have Coutinho, Lallana and Wijnaldum who all have lots of experience from the left of the attack, and I think Ojo prefers that side also.

Draxler has a high ceiling and I wouldn't be put off by a big price if it were true we were interested, just not sure exactly he's the best fit for what we need.

Promes, Moura, Zaha, Pulisic all seem positionally more suitable.

Pearce suggests we are interested in Draxler but PSG expected to get him.
