TAA was badly exposed defensively in this match too, I like him a lot and he'll learn from this but Gomez should have started. He's defensively more mature than TAA and would have handled Mendy better.

I'm not sure it's Klopps fault that Salah couldn't score a one v one or make a simple pass across the box.
Nor that Mane kicked their keeper in the head.
Both of those happened before Klavan had played Aguero two yards onside for their opening goal though.
didnt klopp say both gomez and lovren werent fully fit?

The pass across the box was at 0-0.
Klavan was marking two when De Bruyne played a great first time ball through.
It's too simplistic to blame the first goal on Klavan.
Sometimes the opposition play good football.

Doesn't mean that Klopp didn't get it wrong though. We were in the match before the 11v11 but TAA was getting burned and was getting targeted before that, and klavan and Matip were lacking any cohesion before the red as well.
Klopp isn't infallible. Gomez is a better defender and should have started and Klavan and Matip had no understanding, red card or not.
And I'm not blaming Klavan either, I thought Matip was worse than Klavan was and if I see him get caught up the field only to jog back instead of sprinting I'm going to have an aneurysm. Matip needs a kick up the ass imo.

Matip looked lazy in the warm up, just saying
It wasn't Klavan's fault we lost but I would question why Klopp changed the back 5 twice for 2 huge games for reasons I can't understand?

Of course he's not infallible, but teams lose football matches without managerial decisions being the reason for the loss.
It's too easy IMO to say Gomez plus Lovren means we don't lose the game.
Man City are quite good at football.
It's too easy IMO to say Gomez plus Lovren means we don't lose the game.
-------
It's not even too easy, it's a joke.
I'm sure Gomez would have been able to mark two players all game and Lovren another two which would have given us an extra man's advantage even with 10 men
The fact of the matter is every player dropped their head when Mane was sent off; and the reaction was shocking.
We can look at each incident in isolation ad infinitum but the players just lost their head once we were down to 10. Shocking reaction.
