Perhaps we have a case with the intent angle. Let's be honest Mane gets lots of goals and even pens from such situations. The difference between a horror show and a spectacular piece of attacking play is just a few centimetres. The game today is played at breakneck speed with a quick ball and players as fast as ever.

It was a red but should the punishment be so severe if it was a pure accident?

Any straight red is 3 games.

Two yellows is 1 game.

We have only appealed the length of the ban, not the card itself.

Obviously we feel there is no point appealing the card, but feel there is a chance of getting a game knocked off the ban due to the incident not being totally clear cut.

I just read the laws and they are very open to interpretation, as proved by the different interpretations of fans/pundits etc

Appeal will probably fail as they usually do, but don't see the harm in trying. I don't think it will be one where we get the ban increased.

Pretty sure a straight red card for a professional foul (preventing a goalscoring opportunity) is only a one game ban, dangerous tackles are always three though.

I highly doubt Mane's will be overturned unfortunately, they rarely overturn bans and the fact Ederson has got a bad scar from it will count against him on review, even though it probably shouldn't.

We are not asking for it to be overturned.
