Well that was a bit of a nightmare.
Played reasonably well until the red card. Goal against was against the run of play and only Salah being wasteful stopped us being in front/level.
Our reaction after the red card was very poor though.
We completely lost it until half time and the 2nd goal ended the game as a contest.
I'm not too bothered about the 2nd half. City are the absolute worst team to be down a man against in this country. Klopp tried to react but we were done really and were always likely to be well beaten.
The disappointment for me was how we reacted initially to the red card. We lost all shape and allowed them to get an easy 2-0 lead into HT.
I don't agree with the red card despite what others may think but these things happen. We were going to lose one of these games sooner or later. We went 19 months without being beaten by a top 7 team so it was inevitable somewhere along the line (Leicester apart who were at the time).
The good thing is we have loads of games so an opportunity to bounce back quickly and forget this result.
Inevitably most on here will wildly overreact to us being well beaten but it didn't prove anything other than it's not easy to play against top teams with a man disadvantage.
It's not easy to play with 10 men but our reaction was shocking. Good teams close up shop, regroup and pick there moments. We thought even with 10 men we could go toe to toe with City.
I don't think we thought that.
We just panicked. It was a long stoppage and it was like the players didn't know what to do.
Shock moments can do that, but we should have reacted better.
For me the priority is a top cb next year. We have some average defenders. Only Matip can defend. I have to say Moreno has improved in the last few games.
Horrendous set of results
On City against ten men....
I watched them against Everton and I've not seen many sides use an extra man as well. They're well coached.
Yes they were excellent with 10 against Everton.
A lot easier to do it against the bitters though.
Everton are a shambles. If they had 10 men against our 11 we would have trashed them.
I hope he get only a one game ban.
End of the day it is just 3 points. Not buying a CB has haunted us today as Klavan was all over the place. He always struggles against small nibble players and he even got out muscled by Kyle Walker of all people.
Same as always, about how we bounce back now.
Big game mid week and big league games coming up too.
Burnley never easy side to put away, then Leicester away twice in 5 days.
Got to put in perspective this game and get back to what we do well.
bad day at the office lads, lets leave it at that
under Klopp it don't happen too often.
Tbf we were due a loss from one of the big sides away from home. Can't remember the last time we did lose one like that though. It's good it's happened early on in the season and just shows all this talk of us being a top top team is very premature without a better defence. We completely lost our heads - don't agree with the red at all but we move on to Sevilla now. Coutinho to come back as well. Bad day at the office sums it up.
Mane ban for 3 domestic games or PL games? He will be back for Newcastle if it's domestic but not until Man Utd if it's league games.

Domestic games.
Hoffenheim beat Bayern at home. That CL away result looks even better now. Try and take some positive from today. Utd the real losers of the day, drawing at Stoke.
3pts off top and played two top 6 teams and not had much luck from officials so far either.

Yeah bit of a sh1tshow after the red card. Not bothered about debating the red now seeing as it's happened, would've been annoyed if Mane had ducked out of that challenge though.
As r1 says, we're within touching distance of where we want to be having had some tough fixtures. On to Sevilla now. On the plus side, seeing Brighton win at the Amex was a laugh.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but anyone else think otamendi was lucky to stay on just before Mane was sent off?
You look at the games we've played.
Watford away - should have won.
Palace home - banana skin in past seasons
Arsenal home - great win.
City away - we were ok till the sending off even though we'd conceded one.
Lads need to bounce back and prove something Wednesday night.

Yeah think it was Fernandinho. Otamendi already booked and left the ground foot up into Manes leg, looked like a yellow minimum
Tough match thread today's
Disappointing but it's only 1 match, good chance to bounce back Wednesday. Probably the worst team to go down to 10 men against in the league
