Does promoting English youth count?
Ibe, flanno, sterling to a certain degree, wisdom etc?
I use to think prem proven was a big advantage to be fair....
Then we signed Lovren.
he only had one good season tbf
I think a mix of buying from abroad and promoting your own works best.
Look at our best players in recent years, most we signed from abroad or promoted.
We haven't signed many players from other English clubs as adults that have become our best players.
I am happy with free and low compo deals but we have to avoid the £20m plus outlays in England as not many seem to work out. Mascherano probably the most recent exception for us?
Hendo has been a success overall too.

Im being good atm
Not really sure who you should sign though seems to be a tough job Rodgers has right now
Considerably more than they'd have to pay once his contract expires.........
For somebody who's contract runs out next week . Can only be the 'sky sources' that work for Sky Bet.
Bascombe Pearce and Barrett all seem to think Milner/Ings to us are done so inclined to believe them more.
If Ings contract runs out I thought he'd end up around 8mil in settlement (not 100% sure though)
If someone had him in their plans the extra 4-5mil wouldn't be a big deal.
Echo are still saying Ings is expected to be 3-5m.
That will do for me.
Think it will be £4m. Fortunately Hodgson called up Austin instead of Ings for England, otherwise that might have upped his compensation value.

OK I got the number wrong
Barring Ings contract running outs what's the floor on the price of a prem striker who scores fairly regularly?
I reckon £15mil for an OK/decent one.
We got offered £14mil for Borini + a bit of inflation
Yeah we could theoretically buy Ings for £4m and then sell him the next day for probably £10m.
That's what Fletcher went for isn't it after he scored about 10 one year.
Borini as you say similar.
£10-15m is the going rate for a 10 goal PL striker.
The club have done fairly well negotiating sales it's just been hard to get players to leave.
£14m for Borini and £7m for Ass last summer didn't go through but they didn't go. In the end we got £5.5 for
Ass despite him never playing.
Hope we can negotiate good prices again for Borini, Lambert, Balotelli.
Leave! ....No I'm staying
Stay!....No I'm leaving
