Glad I never saw that match today.

I can imagine just how much fun titty was on the live thread
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said on the thread, you could hear the blood dripping in to his panty liner with every post.

He was writing the wums posts for them while (pretty much) the rest of us were just laughing at our misfortune

Cringy as fack

Misfortune lmao, doomed to repeat that shiete if you think it's luck. Gomez directly gave them 4 goals. Weird how you think it's just one of those things. Getting beat 3-0 by a sheit team is one of those things, conceding 7 is something that hasn't been done in decades and we have had some sheit teams in those decades.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd say 3 goals taking heavy deflections and going in is relatively unlucky but yeah, Gomez was awful.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I felt sorry for us and was ruing our luck after the third deflected goal went in for 5-1.

Feel much less so after we decided it would be a good idea to keep pushing high and attacking giving Villa another half a dozen clear goalscoring opportunities in the process.

We got exactly what we deserved on the scoreline. I'm relieved it was only 7 to be honest.

Did they get the test results wrong?

Mane was actually the only who was negative? That’s about all I’ve got to explain that shallacking by Villa, that they were all sick.

I am still in shock

Well that was unexpected

1 freak result in about 3 years (in a game that mattered). I can live with that as long as we right our wrongs which we usually do.

We concede too goals from our left hand side and not many on our right with Robbo and Virgil there. We need a better backup goalkeeper and center back on the side of Trent who can cover better. Opposition teams always target our left side with playing diagonal balls in that area.

Our work off the ball in midfield was also lacking yesterday. Giving time and space to their midfield players to pick a pass was very poor from us.

The morning after...deary me.

Let the inquest begin.

We're trying a new system tbf. Either it will work or not. Just need time to let the players acclimatise.

Thiago's distribution from central positions now look fundamental for the system to work though.

When you wake up, blurry eyed, banging hangover and you roll over and see a some absolute horror show next to you that you've picked up in a kebab shop.

That's what this morning feels like after yesterday's result

Spurs are title challengers again this morning of course.

A better back up GK and a better CB is required, one who is reliable and will actually stay fit as well but I'm not sure if Klopp will want to sign one. I've never been that convinced by Gomez because between him and Matip it always seems to take them 4/5 games to get up to speed again, they'll have 4/5 good games and then get injured again.

No fans is having a big impact on football though this season with these scorelines as well. It is absolutely ridiculous.

We won't be signing anybody, centre back did seem a clear gap in our squad so surprising we didn't decide to address it.

I trust Klopp implicitly but conceding 7 goals certainly pushes that trust

So seriously how bad was Gomez last night? I've never hugely rated him as a first team choice. Think he only really looked good when VVD is next to him at his imperious best.

I mean Gomez was outstanding last week. Harsh to suddenly say he’s not good enough.

He’s not long turned 23, for a 23 year old centre back i think he’s excellent. Centre backs tend to mature much later than the attacking positions.

In all honesty, I'm not actually calling Gomez not good enough based on last night's performance alone, but last night paints a bigger picture of him at CB.

He always seems to have an error in him or he makes cheap mistakes that other CB's wouldn't normally do. Yes he's a good player when he plays well, but whenever he does play well he seems to be hit with injuries and he can never find that consistency, same goes with Matip as well to some degree.

I do think another CB is necessary in January.

Woken up after a few glasses of red and I’m not overly peeved off. I said during the Arsenal cup game that I’m glad I didn’t have fork out to watch that!
It may be down to having to watch all the games on the telly or it may be down to the boys having enough credit in the bank (similar to the Watford game) but it’s just 1 game. We played terribly, had a couple of Covid cases, keeper out for 6 weeks? Plus the captain is out. The group were disrupted, we played poor, Villa played fantastic. It was their perfect storm.

Whether it be a loss by 1 or 100, Villa still only picked up 3 points.

If this happens against the neighbours across the park and there isn’t a response then I’ll be concerned.

We’re PL champs enjoy

Gomez is still a decent CB but he does need time out. He should have been subbed at half time because he was gone 2nd half.

Matip apparently is fit now but a lot can happen in 2 weeks with him.

Yeah that's the thing. When you look at the table you have Villa and Everton above you. Had it been Man City I would be worried but not these 2.

This is the team I want to see for the derby.

Adrian
TAA Fabinho VVD Robertson
Henderson Thiago Wijnaldum
Salah Jota Mane

Massive race against time to get everyone ready for that one.

Don't see Firmino ever being dropped

Have you guys ever stopped to think that maybe our defence has been so great because of the protection from the midfield...and now that we've changed the system, they don't look so great anymore

Just a thought.

Good centre backs are good at reading danger. It is the reason why I rate Matip higher. He is good at closing down space behind Trent. He is better at stepping into midfield and passing the ball forward.

He couldn't cope with Watkins last night at all and I think Villa played on Gomez knowing that would be the case as well. I'm not sure how some Liverpool fans look at Gomez and rate him sometimes.
