Botman has good stats in winning duels but that is no different to Nat and Rhys. You would think Botman has some pace and can play with the ball at his feet because that is what we lack.

Tend not to read that much into that stuff but couple it with the fact we have the usual deathly silence from the club mouthpiece journalists, it feels like a case of no smoke without fire.

Looks like a player with all the attributes to become a top centre half so that’s exciting. The adjustment to a new league and how long that would take him is the main worry.

Yeah, I imagine he gets plenty of easy games in the french league, whereas he won’t get any over here. Obviously doesn’t mean he can’t adjust and the club rarely make signings they aren’t sure on these days.

We will have to trust the word of Fonte, who has played with the worlds premier centre backs already.

Yeah, only need to look what has happened with Saliba at Arsenal to see how difficult it can be.

I feel like he would be under more pressure to perform straight away than most new signings due to our dire injury situation but it is what it is. Looks like he may have the quality to handle it.

Just seen that Saliba didn’t even start a game for Arsenal and now they want to get rid. That’s a bit mad and you have to think there’s more to it....

Can’t believe how bad he must be in training not to ever make an appearance ahead of Mustafi and Holding. Very strange one.

Fofana is a good defender and he was the CB partner of Saliba at St etienne.

I’m guessing one thing Arteta picked up from Pep is his stubbornness. Fair play to the guy, if you don’t buy in he’ll ship you out.
