Just depends on injuries really, if Matip and Gomez ever take knocks then the position becomes a little bit stretched. But I'd be surprised if it's true unless it meant somebody was on the way out and given Konate was signed in the summer as well.

No chance we are signing another centre back ffs..

VVD
Matip
Konate
Gomez
Phillips
Williams
Fabinho
Reserves

We’d need 3 injuries to those before we get into some difficulty

I'd be surprised if Barca could even afford Origi with the mess they are in at the moment. I wouldn't even want to sell Origi based on his performances in the last couple of games he's featured in, seems like he might be quite useful thus far.

Ox being linked back to Arsenal was amusing. Please let it be true.

He’s out of contract in June, what would he cost in the January window?

Just had a quick scan and I can't see anything beyond 2022 although I did think it was 2024 as well myself.

In that case, probably not much but even still, given their situation they may end up waiting until his contract is out in the summer potentially.

Even that doesn't state 2024, the BBC article doesn't state 2024 and his transfermarkt page says June 2022 as well...

Nah, 2024 I think.

Not according to transfermarkt, they say June 2022!

Some sources say 2024, some say 2022, some even saying 2022 but we have the option to extend it.

When he signed it was only described as long term rather than an actual length so can't say for certain, although 2024 seems more likely.

I don’t think we’d sell him in Jan if he’s on a free in the summer.

I do think it is 2024, I just can't see anything that's "confirmed" that has it at that date.

Either way, despite some improved performances when he's played this season, I can't say he'd be a massive loss as it is right now. He'd just be another squad player to end up replacing with somebody better hopefully.

Why would losing a squad player be good for us?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we can buy a better one who might even challenge for a starting spot

Origi is shiite. A couple of reasonable cameos doesn’t change that.

Not that easy though. Buying quality squad players seems to be the achilles heel of the club for a number of seasons, especially in attacking areas anyway, I just don't think it's as easy as "go and buy a better one".

Good job then a couple of kids have upstaged him

Yes but Ox also has his benefits over both Elliot and Jones though. Definitely a more seasoned professional than both with more versatility to his game, can play in a number of positions and, when fit, can be a dangerous player from midfield. He's scored some important goals down the years since he's been signed and as frustrating as his injury issues have been, he isn't a bad player to have around the squad.
