signs were there with vvd well before that, he headed a simple ball out for a throw under no pressure what so ever.
Thats just what we've had this season and they all take it in turns to out-do eachother. All the senior players taking it in turns to sheit the bed.
Alisson and Elliott are the only 2 i feel sorry for really. Thiago maybe too when hes managed to get on the pitch. Though i saw on ff the other day hes played 350 minutes of prem football in 11 games 990 mins. So almost missed 2/3rds.
Talk about luxury players we're a squad full of them, its a luxury to have them available for any given match
The VVD chance for me perhaps showed a lack of the confidence the team has. Instead of powering the header in himself, he wanted to set up Bobby for an easy tap in.
Annoying thing is we probably win that comfortably 2/3-0 if he scored.

Nunez is probably next on the list and we badly miss Diaz.

Yep DDG syndrome
We're really not that bad. Losing by the odd goal in Prem away games just seems bad as we have been so good.
I'm more than confident we will get top four, the league is a shame but to be expected anyway, just as I was when we had our defensive crisis.
Yeah this poor run is still some way off that terrible run of what?...6 losses in a row or something
The difference is you could really pinpoint the problems in that run. We were ravaged by injuries and playing midfielders in defence disrupted the whole team.
This poor start though is because of a change of tactics and neglecting our engine room when everyone could see we needed something new there...but it genuinely feels like there's more than meets the eye
Pep has had a lot of influence in the new way of playing. There are even claims that an out and out number 9 was his wish even if it meant Salah, Diaz having to play really wide. Don't get me started on that book too.
Perhaps letting everyone know everything about us was a mistake

I still think he fvcked pre-season.
We're good, but we're not lose Diaz, Nunez, Jota, Thiago and win away from home regularly good. Especially if we're not fit and even more so if not too confident.
There's no magical secret to the way we play so while we can joke about the book, you can't really blame it.
It is hugely ironic though that we've lost all intensity in our play since it was released

You just blamed the book yourself
You never heard Steve McLaren, Carlos Quieroz, Pat Rice and whoever Pep's number 2 is write a book about how we play.
Today is our 5-0 at OT anniversary
The book won't have made any difference imo.
The book didn't make VVD head it across goal, it didn't make Gomez play like a pub player (twice) and I could go on and on and on.
There was no book written when Lovren was getting done by long balls pre long ball.
These are elite coaches, not a FM match engine guide.
I do wonder if we'd be in the same situation had we continued with the tactics from last season.
We were struggling performance wise in the last 10 or so prem games last year so I understand why they wanted a rethink, but doing it when we had a short pre-season and a condensed fixture list wasn't the smartest idea.

With hindsight.
If it had worked out we'd be hailing it as a stroke of genius and nous, to successfully change tactics within such a short period of time.
Also, with Mane leaving and Nunez coming in, it was perhaps the best time to implement changes.
Also, I don't necessarily buy this Salah playing out wide narrative. Remember Salah was already misfiring in the 2nd half of last season. This season he has just continued where he left off last season.
I don't think his loss of form is down to the changes in the team. He still gets chances but these days he can't beat defenders as regularly as he used to, his shots are off target or straight at the keeper, his is skewing shots, missing simple chances for his level of player, miscontrolling balls and has lost a dab of pace too.
Leads me to ask myself, if we had let Salah go, would we be any worse off than we are at the moment?

I kinda agree, he's been misfiring since Jan last year.
His movement just doesn't seem to be there atm, part from those 2 games.
He struggles very often to beat the first man, however its still there in his locker and right now I wouldnt swap him, but if he continues his low contributions, then I would defo have a think in the summer tbf.
