There's no magical secret to the way we play so while we can joke about the book, you can't really blame it.

It is hugely ironic though that we've lost all intensity in our play since it was released
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You just blamed the book yourself

You never heard Steve McLaren, Carlos Quieroz, Pat Rice and whoever Pep's number 2 is write a book about how we play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm just saying it's really ironic

We did like Klopp said we became predictable and not having a consistent forward line harmed us.

But Klopp has adjusted and its seemed to have done something.

Also Salah underperforming hasnt helped either.

Anyone know when Nunez will be back?

Also, I don't necessarily buy this Salah playing out wide narrative. Remember Salah was already misfiring in the 2nd half of last season. This season he has just continued where he left off last season.

I don't think his loss of form is down to the changes in the team. He still gets chances but these days he can't beat defenders as regularly as he used to, his shots are off target or straight at the keeper, his is skewing shots, missing simple chances for his level of player, miscontrolling balls and has lost a dab of pace too.

Leads me to ask myself, if we had let Salah go, would we be any worse off than we are at the moment?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I kinda agree, he's been misfiring since Jan last year.
His movement just doesn't seem to be there atm, part from those 2 games.

He struggles very often to beat the first man, however its still there in his locker and right now I wouldnt swap him, but if he continues his low contributions, then I would defo have a think in the summer tbf.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Another question I ask myself is whether we need to change to get the best out of Salah or whether Salah needs to change or augment his game to fit in with the club's vision.

If he suddenly starts scoring again will it be out down to a shift to tactics that favour his game, or will it be the vision coming together? A lot depends on whether he regains form.

Part of me wonders whether with the WC on the horizon a couple of our senior players are holding themselves back for that. Last WC realistically for Hendo, Virgil and Fabinho. Virg and Fabinho in particular seem to be half arsing tackles this season. It must surely be playing on their minds, particularly as so many other players are looking at missing out due to injury.

Doesn't explain Firmino, but I guess he's trying to play his way into the squad whereas Fab seems to be an automatic squad option for Brazil even if he doesn't start for them.

I hadn't even thought of that but... it's really quite possible isn't it.

Will either get to go to another? Fabinho most likely not and VVD quite possibly not.

Fab will be 32 at next WC so not implausible that he could still be playing but Brazil have so much talent that if he's not getting into the team at 28/29 I doubt he will be in his early 30s.

That's not a bad theory tbh

I'm sure KDB, Cancelo, Foden etc are also desperate to play in the world cup too

Thought that myself primarily about VVD given he's never played a major tournament for Netherlands before, and it will very likely be his only world cup.

One criticism that I agree with is that the club have failed to address the fitness situation for too long. To me, it's clear that on average we suffer more than other teams because of injuries and fitness issues. This season players are dropping like flies in training, not in the games etc. Reduce the training sessions for some players depending on their specific needs, or something like that FFS

They need to do something about it for sure, perhaps a new boss in that department because we cannot continue like this. We need people who will pay specific attention to the needs of each player with the aim of ensuring that the player is fit to play on each match day.

Perhaps the reason opponents seem to have more energy, react faster and outfight us.

There was an article in the Athletic a while back which talked about how Klopp has backed Kornmayer as head of fitness to the hilt, but Kornmayer often clashes with the medical department who believe he pushes them too hard.

So we sacked the club doctor in August and not replaced him yet? Then we get loads of injuries.

Cancelo and Foden have plenty of tournaments left in them but yeah, fair point about KDB.

I don't think a club doctor is responsible for conditioning and fitness...just injuries or injury recovery.
