there was that 8 game period where aquilani was good, won 4 motms
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i remember feeling when he played he was actually decent, he should have played more and that i quite liked him as a player. Clearly wasnt in favour though and the club decided against playing him probably stopping the addons or w.e. Then a few loans and he went for nothing?
Or rather Rafa? Rafa was always fighting the board wasnt he? probably had Aqualani signed for him and didnt want.
Hes into coaching now had spells as assistant for fiorentina and managed their u18s before moving to some u20 stuff.

Because some of us knew you couldn't rely on Keita and Thiago putting in the same number of minutes again

But I also have my own theory that the caffeine intake can only work for about 2/3 seasons max and then you need a break from it.
City should be on their break next season

Your own theory? It's was all over the internet last season
Really thought Aquilani was going to be our Xabi replacement when he finally got over his injuries. That 3 with Mascherano and Gerrard could have been really good with Torres upfront. Oh well.

Nunez add ons for example:
Two Portuguese outlets, Record and O Jogo, have claimed that the first £4.3m will come after Nunez makes just 10 appearances.
A further £8.5m will then follow after 60 games for Liverpool, with the final £8.5m to “depend on the individual and collective performance of the team throughout the contract.”
It falls in line with what the Times‘ Paul Joyce previously reported, with £12.8m expected to have been linked to appearances and £8.5m for performance, both individual and team.
With 60 appearances alone, Nunez would topple Liverpool’s existing club-record fee and you would expect that to come to fruition, meaning Benfica are expected to bank, at the very least, £76.8m.

Eye opener tbh

We were telling rival fans that he needs to win PL and CL for us to pay add ons

Opta:
Among players to play 1,000+ mins in the 2022-23 Premier League, Alexis Mac Allister was the only player to average 2+ shots (2.68), 2+ tackles (2.18) and 50+ passes (56.2) per 90 minutes.

Plus the insane mileage put on the team last year and mental fatigue going so close to the quadruple.
Plus Henderson and Milner being another year older. Signs all pointed to issues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We had Jones, Elliot, Carvalho signed, the kind of player Brighton would sign, no?
No-one talks about all the gloss Brighton sign.
This reminds of the craze about Sputhampton. We bought the only good signings they made and they got relegated.

For every Mitoma and Caicedo there's a Locadia and Jahanbakhsh. Admittedly, Brighton's signings have got better in recent years than when they were first promoted. Could just be luck.
