So 60m for this kid and 35 for Mac. Takes our spending to 95m with no real sales.

FSG can't even get sell to buy right. FSG out.

And what does this mean for our 35m budget? FFP gonna get us at this rate.

60.5 mill seems very steep though, no doubt Leipzig will replace him and Gvardiol for peanuts and then sell them in 2 years for even more.

Paying 60m here raises a lot of questions. If we were really after Kone and Thuram then why did we not complete the deals? Both would have cost less than 50m max each so it can't be a money issue. Szobo rumours have been around and quickly the transfer is confirmed (apparently) within a matter of days. Are we really after some of these players? We are often strongly linked with players who in hindsight we might have had no interest in, like Werner.

Jota without an injury record, I'm 100% with you. But in his 3 years with us he's missed 23 games, 4 games, 23 games. He just needs to be available more (how many players do we say that about...)

In the same period Mount has missed 0 games, 4 games and 13 games. Less in 3 years than Jota this season. It's one of the reasons why his value is as high as it is - he's rarely unavailable.

If we sold Jota we’d need to replace him, with the Europa League I expect a hell of a lot of games next year so we need the depth.

I’d just keep him and focus on other areas of the pitch that need more work done. Again though if somebody throws £70/80m at us for him (like if Saudi threw £150m at us for Salah) then I’d let him go.

Accountants at work again. Why not buy and not worry about balancing the books. Have a rare window where the net spend is above 100m.

Why repeatedly get proved wrong? Different strokes and all that.
