A conspiracy I believe is that Saudi clubs are bidding for our players to purposely destabilise us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To what end? Try and help Newcastle/Chelsea?

Occam's razor - Alisson is top 3 keepers in the world, Salah top 5/10 players (depending on views), stands to reason very rich people would target them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not a developed conspiracy granted but the links between PL clubs and the Saudi PIF are clear to see.

It feels to me like they are targeting our key players, while most of the other big signings feel like fringe players or those on their way out anyway (Mane, Ronaldo, Benzema...). If they're really now going for Alisson/Salah, feels intentional going for them so late in the window.

Signing our captain and the only other player we play at 6 has clearly surprised the club, still think we'll get someone in but it's clearly knocked us back a little

We have good players that are in an under performing team, it makes sense the Saudi clubs are targeting them.

The only reason they went for Henderson is because Gerrard wanted him.

Ibrahima Sangare we've been linked to which prob means its bs. Anyone seen much of him? watched a few vids and he has that long leg reach fabinho kind of feel. His passing and shooting seem quite facking good too from the reels a threat in the air too. 36m quoted? could do worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
According to Boca who is Dutch based is that he is not very good on the ball. I've never seen him play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really, i know its only reels but some even the personal highlights in individual matches says otherwise. Looks quite handy on the ball.

i'll let Boca reply because I watched the YouTubes last summer and he looked good but he shot it down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have watched him yesterday against Sturm Graz for the CL qualifier and he didn't play bad, but I'm still not convinced with him. I said the same thing about Gakpo and he has proved me wrong.

I want a more complete dm. A player who can win the ball back but is also involved in the build up.

I have the same doubts about him as I do Ndidi, although think he's a better player.

Sangare looks just as capable as Fab from the eye and is better in a fair few aspects too comparing the stats they seem similar too.

I'd have no issue with that signing. What Boca seems to want is a different profile to a Fabinho, cause if Sangares not good enough on the ball i assume you felt Fabinho wasnt? Sangare makes a lot more forward passes and is more accurate with them and his long passes too etc. The accuracy is a few % off if that but hes taking more risk and in a lesser team then its understandable.

But as i said usually prob a bs link but i do have a gander at players we're linked to.

posted on 16/8/23

I still don't believe we'll sign anyone we'll make do as we often have. But we could do worse than 36/7m for Sangare in this market. Even though clearly not our first choice IF we do sign someone i expect us to be fully sold on them and done our homework and if thats the case and they're happy then im happy.

This looks the option to me in terms of profile, age, being home grown, having Prem experience.

If we could get him for £60m then I'd do it and even that seems insane to me.

Rather than a complete DM, won't it better to have someone who can do the defensive work. Win ball and recycle and leave it to our technical ballers like Trent (inverting), Mac, Szob and Thiago to make the play?

Miguel Delaney saying Doucoure is being looked at, price apparently under £50mn which feels... to good to be true.

Unclear if that's a made-up figure or if there is a clause in his contract

Yesterdays price, is not todays price

Palace know we have some dough

posted on 16/8/23

I’d take Doucoure for under £50 million definitely. £70 to £80 million not so much.

Delaney pushing hard on this but without a release clause what will Schmadtke do?

I think at this point we need to bite the bullet on the price of whoever we sign.

Even before everyone knew we had £110m to spend, you're talking £60/70m for any decent player with potential these days.

Looks bang average whenever I've seen him. Underwhelming signing.

Fabinho is much better on the ball than Sangare.
These stats are from games in the Dutch league were most opposition teams play defensively against PSV, this allows him time and space on the ball.

Feels comparable to Lavia, no? Young standout in an under-performing team

posted on 16/8/23

If you look at Dacoure stats in France before he joined Palace he was more progressive so he can play. At Palace he was used as a sole DM under negative managers.

Had an exceptional game against us last season.

But yes underwhelming at £60m+ after the Caicedo ordeal

posted on 16/8/23

Think we should start putting job advertisements up, then we can see who actually wants to play for us. Save a lot of blushes…..
