Going to a season review type thread thingy at lunch I reckon. Been nice to finish with a couple of wins and 82 points plus a trophy is decent.
What a bonus Quansah has been though! Elliot too, he’s had an increasingly influential season.
Yeah I think Diaz should probably be questioned just as much as Nunez this season to be honest.
I know he's a winger and brings other things to the table but averaging a goal every 330 minutes is pretty poor, and I believe his conversation rate was actually below Nunez's.

Diaz really isn’t playing very well atm.
Side note, I didn’t realise what a good spring Gakpo has. His leap for the Quansah goal was huge.
Personally I’d be open to selling Diaz at the right price, stick Nunez or Gakpo out there and look at a new number to compete with Jota

Less assists as well.
I just like amines there too, adds a nice long shot option from that angle.
Would absolutely furrrrking love Isak. CL clubs will be all over him this summer I reckon.
Not sure what'll happen up top depends on who leaves, think we'll defo buy a DM and a LB (possibly in the cb mould)
Diaz's numbers aren't good enough but he is critical to the way we play and is a very good ball carrier, considerably better than anyone else in the team. I don't think people would realise how important that is the team until we sold him.
Also nice to have a winger who is pretty good with the offside trap, Nunez on the wing would drive me bananas in that regard.

Something in the transfer tumours yesterday about Antonio Silva from Benfica. I know nothing about him.
Another rumour today about AMA and him having a £60m release clause. I don’t like it at all. Give him a new deal with no clause please!

My one question mark around Isak would be injuries, apparently since joining Newcastle he's missed 26 games. He's played 52 so he's missed 1/3 of their matches.
With lingering question marks over Jota's ability to stay fit, do we need someone a bit more robust?
That and he'd cost a fortune.
Doubt we'd put a release clause in Mac's contract, or anyone's for that matter as it's not what we do anymore.
For CB we keep being linked with Pacho from Frankfurt.
we dont do release clauses and if we did it would be 60 facking mil

We're not gonna be paying what Newcastle would want and they wouldn't let us have him anyway. Toney a more realistically option IMO, but he would cost a bomb too.

Do agree with the ball carrier bit, in particular in early 2024 when we had midfield injuries meaning Diaz stepped-up. Now though, we have Mac further up, Trent, Szob/Gravenberch. All adept at advancing up the field with the ball.
If PSG or Barca come-in with a big bid for Diaz, I wouldn't be averse. I have a sneaking feeling we're about to see a summer of a South American's entourage agitating for a dream move to Spain
Talk of Toney being available for £40m as in the last year of his contract.
Got a London club written all over him though.
Re: Isak, I suspect he’ll want CL footy. We’ll see but it’d be no surprise to see him go this summer, although probably not to us.
Yeah there's absolutely no way we would be dumb enough to put a release clause in Macs contract, let alone one that small. Not even the Glazers would be that stupid.

South american players are obsessed with Barcelona and Madrid so I could believe the rumours he wants to go, plus his dad endlessly banging on about it too.
Any move will be on our terms too and Barca will be wary that Edwards has already royally screwed them over once before.
There's a video of Nunez dancing with Klopp now
Barca still have significant financial problems to overcome:
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5482052/2024/05/16/barcelona-financial-problems-la-liga/
Reading the above, I'm not sure they have the means to offer the type of figure we'd accept for Diaz. And with Mbappe arriving, RM don't need him.
PSG to replace Mbappe is probably the best shout if he wants a big payday.
That's another reason we snapped him up. We'll make a very tidy profit and boost our FFP limits if he goes to Spain.

Sometimes the players agent can demand a clause is inserted as part of the deal.
Won't even need to be a particularly big payday for Diaz, fairly sure he's earning about 1/3 what Nunez is currently
Antonio Silva is Maguire 2. The guy is just too slow.
I'd rather have Pacho who is quick and can defend the wide areas better.
