Nunez has been here 2 and a half years now. If you haven’t formed a consistent opinion on him by now then you are probably mentally deficient. I don’t think anyone is judging him on a game by basis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you suggesting that fans aren’t prone to regularly changing their opinions on players? We’ve all seen it done within one game FFS. Last week some were saying he’d had his best game for us against Madrid, this week he’s had his worst.

Clearly quite a few mentally deficient people on here….
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In fairness what’s wrong with saying he’s had his worst game and his best game for us? Both can equally be true.

Just checked out FF Draft, closer than I would have liked but I handed out Pranks his weekly slap.

Nothing as long as that doesn't led to extreme views about overall performances and future potential which happens all the time based on one game.

Take Gomez for example, this past season and a half he's been in and out of the team covering multiple positions. Didn't have his best game against Newcastle and now he's not good enough. Quansah good season last season, couple of poor games this season with one out of position and hes now not good enough also. The opinions on Nunez have flip-flopped throughout his time also. Saw people claiming Kelleher not good enough after one error also. Bradley got it a few games back and then suddenly he was excellent again after his performance against Madrid.

Nobody is going to go the whole season not having a bad game, especially young players and players in and out of the team who haven't been able to build up a level of form.

Neo was saying you were mentally deficient if you hadn’t formed a consistent opinion. I’m saying that loads change their mind about him even on a game by game basis.

I'm falling into the category right now but I'm aware of it at least. The witchhunt after a subpar result is seductive

I'm not particularly fussed about the missed chances from Nunez against Newcastle, but his poor moments stood out - he had one cartoonish touch, two counters wasted in the first half, and two rubbish passes in the second half when we were on the counter.

He's going to play again tomorrow irrespective so let's hope he has a good game

Kind of hope the emotion of it being the last Goodison derby gets the better of Everton.

With someone like Núñez, I think most fans are looking at the bigger picture. Sure, he’s had good games (Newcastle away last season being a standout), but over two and a half years, his biggest issues—finishing in key moments and decision-making—haven’t improved. It’s not unfair to say that he’s just not the kind of number 9 that’s going to win us titles. The good performances don’t come often enough, and when they do, they rarely feel game-changing. That’s why so many want him moved on.

With Kelleher, it’s not about him “not being good enough.” He’s a solid keeper, but Alisson is just on another level. Look at the Gordon goal the other night—Ali saves that. Then there’s the third goal… mistakes like those are the difference at the top level.

As for Quansah, he’s shown promise, but let’s be honest, his recent form doesn’t scream “ready to start” right now. These aren’t extreme views; it’s just assessing players for where they currently are, rather than where they might be in the future.

Everyone has bad games, and context matters, but we’ve also got to be honest about who’s capable of stepping up consistently in the next few fixtures. Quansah has everything about him to be a future star, but that doesn't impact the game at Goodison on Saturday.

I don't disagree with anything here I'm just saying people go from one extreme to the other after one game.

I saw people blasting out a lot of confirmation bias when talking about the poor summer window and the January window determining what is achieved this season. The team has lost one game and drew two, every other game has been a win. It's quite possible even without signings to win things. It doesn't have to switch from one extreme to the other after one game.

Fair enough, but don’t you think people are just really excited to see Núñez actually work out? When he does well, it’s natural for fans to get hyped—it feels like what we’ve been waiting for since he signed. Everyone wants him to succeed, so when he performs, the excitement probably overshadows the bigger picture for a bit.

Yes, however I was more making an overall point, rather than just focusing on Nunez. Nunez has been Nunez for two and a half seasons now and the signs that he's going develop that killer instinct in the box aren't good. It would be a terrible shame considering the rest of his game. The fans in the stadium love him for everything else that he does but this will slowly change if he doesn't during the remainder of the season.

The fans should love him, he leaves everything on the pitch after every game, we loved Kuyt for the same reason.

Kuyt was never winning you a title as a number 9 though, which is why we signed Torres and pushed Kuyt out wide.

Chat the game might be called off tomorrow as winds could get as high as 70mph. All games in Wales have been called off.

If it does go ahead we're probably playing the worst team possible for the conditions.

think people go ott with alisson, hes made bigger howlers than kelleher and worse attempts at saves than the gordon one. Every keeper does, but obviously forgotten when winning and over time etc.

to be "on another level" to what kellehers been doing for us lately you'd have to be damn near faultless and Alisson is not, he has a shaky moment in possession most games too.

He prob is the best keeper in the world hes one of if not but sitll, calm down lol especially when trying to use it against Kelleher.

posted on 6/12/24

I would say when Alisson makes a mistake it is almost comically bad but 99% of the time he's the best keeper in the world.

Kelleher's mistakes on their own might not be as bad, but he makes more of them, and his overall keeping obviously isn't as good. He made the exact same mistake for the 3rd Newcastle goal in the win over Villa but it wasn't punished.
