Sounds like it would be another opportunistic signing rather than us actively trying to get him. But someone must be making way, can't have seven forwards. Maybe Nunez.

He plays as a false 9 for Georgia and performs well, even when mostly isolated. His ability to keep the ball under pressure is outstanding, similar but better to Diaz in that respect. However he is far better on the left cutting inside.

Ornstein saying this usually means we've opened talks I'd say.

There were talks about him signing a new contract with Napoli recently. He has a contract until 2027 however. He needs the PL, it is perfectly suited to his style. Would be a huge fee i would imagine however.

Maybe we see him as an upgrade on Diaz, who after a good start to the season has reverted to his inconsistent self again.

I do like this ‘opportunistic’ approach to transfers, it can throw up plenty of surprises. However, it would be great if an opportunity arose to sign a player in a position we actually really need!

Fack sake, why is it every time we need a CDM or CB in Jan we buy another forward instead.

Reckon the Chiesa rumours are pure guesswork and unlikely imo. Would be a shame to sell Doak too, as he’s definitely got something about him. But there must have been some encouragement from us for two teams to bid for him.

Would happily move on Nunez for him tbf, just hope Diaz stays.
