Brendan managed to get Liverpool in a position that the title was in there hands with 3 games to go and when under pressure for the first time all season he failed.
Tactically naive and unwilling to adapt his team and tactics to the situation that faced him, only needing to draw against a weakened Chelsea side.He played right into Chelsea and Mourinho's hands.
How can he be manager of the year when he failed miserably under the first bit of pressure he faced all season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You show a distinct lack of knoweldge on brendan if you think he is tactically naieve, you basically base it all on the chelsea game where a slip changed the entire game.
Brendan changes tactics, formations and systems mid game all the time, he adapts if he sees its required to counter the opposition teams strengths etc.
At least be accurate and knoweldgeable of the details before you make a point
Your point re pressure is valid enough, but tactically naieve
And it was his fellow managers who voted for him, men who know how difficult it is to do what he did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So following the tactical masterpiece at Chelsea he was then 3 - 0 up against Palace was it another tactical
masterclass to try and score a shed load more to chase the goal difference thereby leaving the back door wide open with your leaky defence which conceded 3?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 games over a 38 game season? You focus on 2 game swhere he made a mistake but neglect to look at all the wins, some against big sides by big margins???
Like I said do some research so next time tyou don't look so unknoweldgeable about the point you try to make
Also the palace result meant nothing in the end, in fact our only hope after Chelsea was goal difference, so if we'd shut up shop at 3-0 v Palace you'd criticise Brendan for not having a go at Palace, you're all over the shop here

Just cause you keep saying it doesn't make it ture

Brendan will be expected to make Liverpool title challengers next season.Brendan will be spending a fairly sizeable transfer pot of money,I think he will be under a great deal more pressure than the last campaign.
Don't forget as well,no excuses from either Brendan or all your supporters regarding tiredness due to games in Europe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course we can say players may be tired after a cl game, we all just don't think it gives terminal jet lag and find rival excuses as "you're only chalenging cause of no europe" laughable.
1. It's never happened before
2. the benifits of being in the cl far outweigh negatives
3. You'll find any excuse to try justify why LFC did so well

It is not an unreasonable decision to give it to Rodgers. 7th to 2nd these days is a big achievement. Exciting risk taking football as well, which cost them at Crystal Palace, but is the reason they got so close as well.
What City did this season only seems to surprise City fans. What Liverpool did, no one really expected.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so going 7th to 2nd trumps winning the PL Crown, winning the League Cup and an FA Cup Quarter Final? Is that what you are saying?
Liverpool supporters should know that it's not just a matter of playing at least 6 extra gamesn in the CL, it's the media pressure and expectation from the fans that goes with it.

We all know it has an impact therefore we need to assemble a squad to deal with it, if we do fall down the league beacuse of CL then it's down to the board and manager not getting a strong enough squad together to deal with both comps.
I fully expect LFC to drop points after the odd cl game, just like I expected it when Rafa had us in the cl, this happens.

So finishing with an 11? game winning run had nothing at all to do with the fact that you played around 15 games less than your nearest title challengers? I'm not saying it was as a direct result but you cannot say it had nothing at all to do with it.
The game is also a lot faster now than when Liverpool last played in the CL so it stands to reason that players are going to suffer from playing an increased number of games or conversely as in Liverpool's case, benefit from not playing as many cup or any CL games.

The game has dramatically sped up in the past 5 years now has it
Jesus you're clutching at straws. The modern game is faster I'l lgrant you that but it is not suddenly gone into hyper drive in the past 5 years.
Of course more games will take their toll and yes it helped this season but howmany times do people need to be told that we knew coming into the season we had no European football, thus our squad size is a reflection of that. We sent several players on loan who may not have gone had we had a Europa League campagin to play also, players like Suso, Wisdom, Borini would have stayed at the club to play their part.
You show a distinct lack of knoweldge on brendan if you think he is tactically naieve, you basically base it all on the chelsea game where a slip changed the entire game
-------------
Brendan is tactically naive. Changing tactics doesn't change that. Anyone can change tactics - that is easy. It's changing tactics that result in changing the game (and thus winning a game that would have otherwise been lost).
City have scored more goals than Liverpool. And conceded fewer. Suggesting that the balance in the team was right. That wasn't the case for Liverpool. Attack - they are awesome, but defensively they remained suspect. That was never addressed by Brendan. Why not?
Liverpool's defence cost more to assemble than City's defence did. Much more. Glen Johnson cost, what - £17m, £18m? One player = £17m / £18m. Kompany cost £6m, Zabaletta cost £6m. Hart £600k. Those three players costing City less than one of Liverpool's defenders.
Ok, that's a little biased. But total up the amount it has cost Liverpool to have the defence they have, and compare that to how much it has cost City to have the defence they've got. That pretty much says it all. Liverpool, had they been much better defensively, would have won the league. City, who attacking wise were more potent than Liverpool, also had a much better defence.
Ripleys I get what you are saying but how can you call him tactically naieve when he was able to adjust his tactics mid game, or use a different tactic to counter certain opponents?
Sorry but to call a man naieve when he's come second in the league, and been widley praised for his ability to switch it during games is simply wrong.
He's made mistakes and will make more in the future but naieve! Come off it he's tactically very sound.
Ripleys I get what you are saying but how can you call him tactically naieve when he was able to adjust his tactics mid game
-----------------
examples.
Making mistakes is part and parcel of the game. It's learning from those mistakes that set apart the best from the rest. Being naive comes in many forms. The Crystal Palace game encapsulates that the best. Arguably the most crucial game for Liverpool, at the most crucial time of the season. BR got it completely wrong. His pre-match press conference was all about trying to reduce the goal difference. The game itself should have been about simply securing the 3 points. Just look at his substitutions - not only at 3-0, but also at 3-1/3-2. Brendan wanted more goals. Wrong approach AT THAT TIME. He'll learn from that. I have no doubt that he will become more tactically astute, because he is a very good manager all said and done. But he did make mistakes. And it's no insult to suggest that a manager who found himself in a position that he had never been in before (i.e. a title challenge) was naive. This season was a learning curve for him.
Sorry Ripley's I just don't agree with using the term naieve, yes he made a mistake but to say he is naieve is wrong when he got it right far far more often then when he got it wrong.
This season is a big learning curve and Brendan's a young manager, just won't agree with callign him naieve.
