Vela or Podolski

Vela has more to his game then Podolski but poldi is a very likeable player and doesn't mind being a rotation option

"With Carlos' recent 'come and get me plea'"

What? Not sure that happened, did it?

Yeah I've seen him mention the clause but he's also stated he's committed to Sociedad if I remember correctly.

Search 'Vela' and 'Arsenal' and take your pick.

Podolski's recent unrest about lack of involvement in the duration of a game suggests he might have a problem with rotation

He respects them and no guarantee Wenger will want him back so of course will state that but he didn't bring up the clause and claims of maturing for no reason.

Anyway without turning this into a rumour debate what's your opinion on Poldi Vs Vela?

"I’ve good things there and here too. I’m in a place where I’m happy and at the moment, don’t have any intentions of moving on, but if the time comes to leave, I think I’m prepared to try other things."

He's said, because he's been asked a lot, if he would move on or come back, and he said both are options. That's hardly a plea to leave, it's saying your not completely against anything.

Not seen enough of Vela recently to comment really. The question is could he break into the side regurlarly now where he couldn't before? If he can then why not. Even if he can't then it's just sound business to go and buy him for 5mil and sell him the following year comfortably for 10.

posted on 13/5/14

Yeah well he can interchange. Theo has been trying his luck off the left recently anyway (Man C away). Think he'll be alright in our system left or right.

Personally I would just said to Sociedad sell us Grizemann for 5-8 Million and we wont activate the buy back clauses on Vela.

They keep Vela we get what we need and if they do want to sell Vela they could get.15-20 Mil for him.

Definitely Vela. Always liked him, he's one of the best finishers I've seen recently.

He actually runs in behind and has pace, we need more of that in our squad.

He can do everything Podolski can plus more, and he's younger, on lower wages etc

Vela is better than Grizemann.

Have any of you people seen Grizemann play or do you want us to sign him because he's got a big price tag and being linked with lots of clubs?

London Dave
cutting corners ey?

'Arsenal can come back for me at €4million (£3.3m) at any time, which is €1million more than Real Sociedad paid. I look at things differently these days and I won’t close the door on Arsenal, or any team in England. I think I’m better prepared to play in another country now.'

'I’ve matured, I’ve changed my way of thinking and I’ve not closed my mind to anything.'

Maybe 'come and get me plea' was the wrong line to use but lets just say that we COULD get him easily under £5m.
He's trying to show his club respect as well as sell himself.

Kamram

Can Vela really hack it in the PL though? Hes already flopped once here and could easily flop again. Imo he's found his place in Spain.

posted on 13/5/14

OMG Kamran I'm think I'm in danger of agreeing with everything you have just posted right now!

Thankyou for that I'm also against this £25m for Griezman BS too makes no sense when we can get a more ready made established player for significantly less

Better than Hernandez so I think he can. He hardly flopped as he was here as a kid that didn't get a look in. Don't forget at that time Ade, Eduardo, RVP, Theo, Arshavin, Nasri, Bedntner (when he had potential) were all here at the time occupying the positions he could play in. Was hard for him but his time has come now if you ask me

He didn't flop, he wasn't given a proper opportunity.

He always scored in cups and when he came on in PL games and scored people would say 'oh he only scores when we're 3-0 up'...well if he's only given a chance when we're 3-0 up, then of course that's when he's going to score...

Vela is a serious finisher. If we can't get Vela we should have a look at Rodrigo who's also a quality finisher who runs in behind. We need some pace and movement in our attack maaayne.

Vela was always a good player but struggled with the physicality of the PL. Not sure that would have changed much since he left. Personally I like Pod and think hes been carrying an injury a lot of the time hes been with us.

posted on 13/5/14

Btw let's not forget that only WE can get Vela for under 5m, he has a release clause of over 20m if other clubs want him...

If we were planning on buying him back for 20m I'm sure more people would be in favour of it

Exactly my point. He has discussed the clause in recent weeks, I've not read much more than that - except maybe in the Metro - but they're all nuts.

Vela is amazing but was unsettled @ arsenal.. i think he'd do much better now though as he's put down several years in Europe now

He's a different player now, can actually play from the flanks, could be a good player for us, him or joel campbell, easy decision

I would take Vela. For that price it is little risk.
His exile from the national squad is a massive bonus from his last spell, lost lots of opportunities due to travelling to Americas and back.
Would also keep JC. Having Ox, Theo, Carlito and JC as real pace options (with 3 also able to play up front) from wide areas would be a quality mix to add to Özil and SantiCaz.
We have the squad space to accommodate all 4 as well.

Vela is way better than Podolski, if he's up for it, we'd be stupid not to bring him back - especially at that price.
