If Vermaelen stays, we don't need a CB.

Uh we do, I don't think this Aurier kid can play CB.

Yes

How many times did Sagna play CB for us last season?

posted on 5/6/14

we do imo Lex, at times last season Mert AND Kos needed a rest and we could only afford to rest one. we were lucky neither of them really had any injury problems

He's got 90 strength and 90 odd jumping on his tots card on fifa looks like a beast. Im on about Aurier.

Has anyone seen Aurier btw? Seems athletic and decent in the air.

I don't think this link to Aurier is as strong as the player would like it to be.

A luxury we can afford. You have been saying since the day he left you wanted him back, you've always said Wenger would bring him back at the first opportunity. Now that papa Arsene has let him go to Mourinho, we never really needed him anyway. So fking pathetic.
------
I do want him back but if he goes to Chelsea it's just the reality, it's not like it's impossible for us to be successful without Cesc Fabregas. He doesn't fit at Barca and maybe he doesn't fit with us right now. I said a while ago I don't see how Ozil and Cesc fit in the same team.

Thing is, if you want to properly compete for the top prizes, you've got to try to match the top clubs.

Cesc, Ramsey, Wilshere and Özil might not work in the same starting XI, but they'd be amazing in the same squad.

"My mantra on this one: hard to foresee a scenario where we'd regret signing Cesc. Easy to imagine that we regret letting him go elsewhere."

Couldn't agree more with this.

Well it was his decision to stay on at Barca for one more year last summer, Wenger implied he would bid for him if he wanted to come back.

But we bought Ozil and he shouldn't have expected Arsene to "rescue" him, this summer (which I do believe is what he wanted).

Guys I'm a bit late on this, just saw the pique press conference but did not see any mention of Chelsea, why is everyone saying he's signing for them? Or am I missing something here

Ox getting injured really ruined my mood too, Hodgson seems to give him more of a free role, was looking forward to seeing him at the WC.

I still find it hard to believe Wenger would reject Cesc, maybe we are waiting for a club to agree a fee so we can match it... that's how a first refusal clause works I think. could be wishful thinking. The thing is if we wanted to spend £30m on another playmaker everyone would say we don't need to but with Cesc it's just an emotional decision to want him back at Arsenal. Wenger's been criticised in the past for not buying the players we need and not changing his philosophy and if he doesn't sign Cesc he'll get criticised for the opposite.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with you that Cesc is also an emotional decision.

We all agree the guy is a class act and would improve Chelsea dramatically.

If Wenger let him go there or elsewhere I am done. We are crying for doing that bit extra, taking into account that injuries spoilt our seasons before.

It's time for doing that bit extra and Wenger wont miss that opportunity to take him back.

I am done with Wenger if he let him go.

Surprised Arsenal were not in for Costa - is he not exactly the type of player you need?

posted on 5/6/14

Yeah if Wenger doesn't sign Cesc he should be shot !!!
Get a grip we, have an embarrasment of riches in midfield and our MF is the envy of pretty much every club in Europe never mind the PL. Why should AW buy Cesc when we desperately need a top quality striker (or two), probably a CB, a RB, and a Defensive MF (which Cesc definitely is NOT !!!!). Forget sentimnet spend the money in areas where it is needed

Cesc is now (or will be shortly) a Chelsea player. Can we all move on now please...

Sorry what embarrasment of riches are you on about?

Ramsey - Class this season
Ozil - World Class
Jack - Not doing too good (forever injured)
Santi - Very Good Player
Diaby - Dont make me laugh

Out of that list 3 are world class/very good.

If you want to win things you faking need more than 3 class MF players.

Also envy of of every club in europe lol lol lol lol

While it would have been advantageous to have Cesc back at the club he is not a player the club are in need of at present. It is essential we strengthen in other areas, and feel it is best to reserve judgement until our summer business has been concluded.

IMO the squad is crying out for pace and while noting Cesc’s exceptional talent he is far from quick.

He will do a good job for Chelsea and good luck to him, however it would be beneficial if certain AFC fans can now move on now!

-----------
Players like Cesc dont become available and when they do you take the chance and get him back.

End of the day he is still better than anything we have at the club and we would be stronger with him in the team than without.

Yes a Striker and DM are a priority however yo get Cesc Fabregas is he becomes available and for only £27Million.

Exactly - United didn't need RVP in 2012, in fact they'd already bought Kagawa to play in behind Rooney that summer. However when he became available at £22m, it was, understandably, to good a deal for Fergie to turn down and he practically won them the title.

Cesc would instantly be our best player were we to bring him back, and for that reason alone I cannot comprehend the logic in not doing it, completely ignoring his connection to the club.

You make a few good points, which I happen to agree with but for whatever reason the club have other targets in mind.

Given the benefits Cesc could have offered, logic suggests that the club have appropriate justification in not signing him.
