Moreno Overhyped?

ARE.

I'm not at all convinced by Suso. My hunch is that BR isn't either. Can't see him staying much longer.

I defended Flanno last year. I got the standard abusive responses.

i didnt defend flanno last season, and thought we should have got rid of him the first chance we got.

i still do, just not the first chance, but the second chance.
last year id have released him. this year id take 3-5 mil for him. its what we got for enrique, and he is better, and younger, so a 3 mil price tag is not out of this world.

i just think he was in great form, and that this years level is not his actual level.

sorry but can never see flanno being a cb, thi k he'll be backup for fullback longterm

Suso Tex and Alberto all have the same problem, the other two, and the fact they are all identical players, and are older than coutinho, another identical but more progressed version.

Really of the original three we need to identify the best of.the three and use the others as makeweights, for me Tex has the most promise..

I literally think alberto is to slow for us :/

Suso was voted the second best young player in Spain last season. I would like to see him given a chance where Gerrard plays.

I agree. Alberto is clearly on his way out, as is Suso. I haven't seen enough of Tex to judge him but I think this year he needs to start making inroads into the 1st team squad or he'll probably be off too.

as a defensive midfielder?

i wouldnt.

Fair enough if you defended flanno, i also think he's merely in form rather than a great player, but carra forged his career in the same circumstances, sometimes heart and passion for the club can substitute for the technical abilities, if john is smart and learns to organise a defence there is no reason he can't follow carryover moving centrally.

He's a solid yet unspectacular player, preferable for games where we need more.emphasis on defense but will never unlock the oppositions.

His finish vs spurs will be the best goal he ever scores and ensures he will get patience from the fans!

I hope I'm proved wrong about Suso but for me he's a mid table player.

Alberto lacks movement for me. I have no idea how he thought his best position was as a false-9

Tex we need to see more of in the first team.

Suso for me feels like a Silva-type player. Obviously not in terms of quality but they seem like luxury players. BR wants a 110% every game which you dont feel like you're going to get that from them...especially on the defensive side.
I think Suso will be a decent option to have against those teams that will park the bus.

Gerrard is not a defensive midfielder.

He's a quarterback, yes he provides an element of cover, but henderson makes more tackles I believe.

Gerrards role is not to provide the defence with support but to support the attack with switching play and playing balls from deep for sturridge to run on to.

A DMs primary role is to break up play, gerrards is to stretch the game and to provide attacking opportunities, if anyone in the team is more focused towards breaking up play it's coutinho/Allen/henderson on the sides of the diamond pressing constantly.

I've only seen Flanno play live once and that was Carra's testimonial when he was 18. He stood out for me on that day. I think there's plenty more to come from him. They don't sing "we all dream of a team of Flanagans" for nothing!

gerrard doesnt need to break up play because his defensive positioning through experience means the ball doesnt come towards the player in his 'area'.

that doesnt mean suso will have the same positioning, in which case he will need to break up play.

I liked Alberto when he played, oozes class, but the game Tex came on, he seemed to have a little more guile, the last few years suso has looked ready to kick on, andbif has affected games for us in the past, which always looked like a turning point,

The more it drags on though the more it resembles paycheck, potential is only good if the player can realise it!

Me and Shortlight both defended Flanagan.

Probably others did too.

We didn't predict his meteoric rise of the last 6 months, but the stick he was getting was unreal for a 19/20 year old.

If Moreno is over-hyped then what the hell is Shaw?

Can't disagree with that.

Moreno played 40 odd games in a team that won the Europa League, scoring 3 goals with a couple of assists. He also played first choice left back in Spain U21 Euro winning team in 2013.

Shaw is 3 years younger but hasn't played at the same high level as Moreno, for either club nor country.

Moreno for £18m is a bargain compared to Shaw at £30m.

You don't get anywhere near that Spain squad if you aren't a very good player!
