Game plan: our plan today is to go at City from the off, we're experimenting with a new team and system and will be looking to express ourselves in this game. We will look to press high up the pitch, Successful pressing is dependant on group understanding, collective perception of ball, opponent and team mate, and a massive amount of hunger and desire to have the ball. It isn’t possible to press for 90 minutes. We will have to pick our times wisely in order to do it successfully. If our players are tracking back or not close enough to the ball it isn't sensible to press the ball, we will look to capitalise on poor passes by the opposition or when a player is facing his own goal or has his head down when receiving the ball, at these times to opposition player does not have a full view of the pitch and cannot pick a forward pass.

In possession we will have many lines of players in order to create easy triangles for the players on the ball, the player on the ball should always have at least 2 passing options, the full backs will also go forward creating an almost 3-4-3(2-3-2-3)formation when in possession, this reverts to a 5-4-1 formation when we lose possession.

Forster: fantastic goalkeeper, excellent shot stopper and very confident coming off his line, will look to release the ball quickly in order to start attacks, when he gets the ball the full backs will push forward and the centre backs will spread out offering themselves for the pass, will only go long if there is no other option.

Defence: as has been spoken about in the game plan section, the full backs will look to push up the field when we are in possession creating the multiple lines across the pitch which is the basis of our possession philosophy. The central defenders will look to stay close to one another when out of possession, the full backs will also tuck in leaving little room in the centre of the pitch, while the midfield and attack will cover the defence of the wide areas, this is not the specific job of one player as we are playing in a fluid system, it will be whoever is available to do the job at that point in time. Benatia and Miranda are to talk to each other constantly and be wary of the movement of the City CF, but they will not be sucked out of position, Witsel and Marchisio will be providing cover in front of the back 4, so if the CF wants to drop off, the CB's are to hold their position and communicate to Witsel and Marchisio that they have an extra man to watch.

Midfield and Attack: Witsel will by and large stay in position in the holding role in the midfield. He will look to snuff out space for the opposition attacking players, and always be available for a pass when we are in possession. The 4 players in front of Axel will play very fluidly, and as has already been stated they will look to press the opposition when the time is right, all 4 possess good pace and stamina and are able to get up and down the pitch.

Marchisio will get up and down the pitch throughout, has terrific energy and is very creative and can carry the ball, will look to move the ball quickly, as will the whole team, we will play with a high tempo throughout the game not giving City any breathing space.

James Rodriguez will look to find space in possession, whether that means moving wide or into the gaps between the lines, he has the ability to run at the opposition and take the opportunity to shoot and link with Rodrigo, Walcott and Lucas Moura who will bomb forward and provide an outlet in the wide areas. We will look to get James on the ball as much as possible as he is our most creative players. He will have a lot of freedom to roam and find space throughout the match.

Rodrigo Moreno will play as the centre forward for us today, his pace, movement and energy suits the change in the way we are going to play, he will look to roam across the pitch, dragging defenders out of position which will leave space for the other attackers and our midfield to benefit from, as stated previously in the tactics he is part of the fluid front 4 we are playing with today so will pop in different areas of the pitch on occasion, we are not just going to throw the ball into the box at every opportunity so his running of the channels and his technical ability are crucial in the way we want to play.

Subs: Giuseppe Rossi for Rodrigo on 70 minutes, straight swap, very similar players.

if winning after 75 minutes, Ogenyi Onazi for Marchisio, Onazi to act as an out and out anchorman in midfield, no risks, just sit and protect the back 4, also the fullbacks to be less attacking and take less risks.

Southampton

------------------------Ospina------------------------

----------Veltman--Vertonghen--Caceres----------

Bacuna--------Sissoko------Matuidi-------Monreal

------------------------Pereyra------------------------

---------------Babacar--------Llorente---------------

Rajkovic, Jones, Hughes, Sneijder, Thorgan, Johnson, Huntelaar

Ospina is a good shotstopper, out early for the ball and always look to release it early for quick counters. Punch clear what he cant catch.

We line up with a different but still strong back 3, Veltman and Caceres will do the marking job on the CF, depending which side he goes to if he is more left Veltman and right it will be Caceres, straight through the middle will depend on which fullback as come up from the oppositon, If the LB is attacking Caceres will pick up the CF as Veltman moves out and vice versa. Vertonghen will take a step back and be mindful of any player coming through and help out his fellow defenders. Stick as a three, we have plenty options going forward. Vertonghen however will go up for set plays.. Now the wingbacks are youthful, and fuill of energy, so up and down the pitch is nop problem for them, Will watch there wingers and close them down early, if the fullback comes up as well, allow the winger to be marked by Veltman/Caceres so the full back doesnt become a threat, we dont think both fullbacks will attack at the same time so we shouldnt be too stretched. Attacking they will look to Sissoko/Matuidi etc to pass and move up to receive the return ball drive at them and look to fire in some wicked crosses, Would like one fullback to attack whilst the other stays a bit deeper just in case.

Sissoko and Matuidi in the heart of our team, I am now lookng to next season for these two to become a powerful partnership Matuidi will look to take care of the AM and stop him dictating the passage of play, aided by Sissoko when the oppositon attack they are exubarant characters and feisty so will be hard to get passed. stay up dont dive in, do this it will be harder for them to get passed. Once we have won the ball Matuidi stays on or near the half way line allowing Sissoko to drive forward and do what he does best by getting into dangerous positions and become a massive goal threat, look to link well with the three ahead of him.

Pereyra plays ahead of him and he links everything from the back to the front, will spray the ball about to thw wide men and look to feed the front two, also be mindful of Sissoko's forward runs so he can play a defence splitting pass for Sissoko to run on too. Will watch there DM coming forward and be onto him to stop him dicvtating where the ball goes for them.

Babacar and Llorente up top, when we defend I always want one to drift out wide depending on where there attacks start from, more likely to be Babacar as he has the legs to do so push them out wide to force them into silly mistakes, Babacar is full of energy like most of our players so he will also drop deepish to pick up the ball to look to take on players, will help out the wingers and make himself available for the ball at all times. Llorente is a good strong boy, will have plenty runners around him so he must get himself into positions where he will become dangerous to there goal, if he cant go for goal look for the runners around him so he can link up play and move elsewhere, either to get the ball back or at very least drag a defender away for someone to move into that space.

This is a young fit team, well mostly, so plenty running, passing and movement from them, talk to each other and always make themselves available as best they can, when they have houind them down, get into position early...

Chelsea

------------------T.Krul-------------------
Debuchy---Varane---Bonucci---Ricardo
------------Pogba-------Vidal-------------
Sanchez--------Neymar--------Memphis
-----------------Benzema-----------------

Karius, Laporte, Blind, Rabiot, Berardi, Barkley, Wellbeck

In goal Krul, a fantastic shot stopper and a keeper that instills confidence in the back four, leads by example from the back, shouting instructions to hos defenders. Out quickly to shut down strikers and close there shooting angles down. Punches clear what he cant catch from high balls and likes to release early to set up quick counters.

Bonucci and Varane are a solid pairing at CB, on this occassion Varane will man mark the CF quick and skillfull for a CB, with great marking abilities, will keep the CF away from goal and be on to him quickly as he comes forward so he can intercept any though he has of going for goal. When in possession he will carry the ball out and start attacks from the back. Bonucci alongside will mark any big men that come up for corners etc strong in the air and strong ion the tackle and make sure he is strong enough to get the ball away from danger, will help out Varane if needed.
Ricardo and Debuchy at fullback, when we attack one goes at a time the other sits back. When they attack I want them bombing down the wing over lapping the winger to allow them to cut inside, quick passing between the two to get them passed the opposition fullback, which will see the fullback drive towards the bye line to get a quick cross in. If its not a cross then look for the winger inside to play a quick pass back to them so they can drive into the box. Defending both will have to be vigilant and always mindful of the tricks the opposite winger can do. Be onto them quickly not allowing them the time to get going, push them out wide and stop them becoming a threat.

We go with Vidal and Pogba in the centre of midfield, two absolute workhorses, Vidal will be the one taht will sit in and help defend the lines as he picks up the AM possibly, a hard job but am sure he can handle it, be feisty, dont give him the time or space to dctate the play. Must always keep his eye on him as they attack as he can turn nothing into somthing fairly quickly, close him down early..Pogba alongside will help defend when they attack and his Tigerish attitude and never say die approach will stop them, he and Vidal will be a huge wall for there AMs to come through and hopefully our two CBs will be fairly untroubled as of this, When we are breaking forward Pogba will get forward to support the forwards, he has a wicked shot on him and isnt afraid to try, will look to get into space once the ball is away.

We have gone for Sanchez and Memphis Depay out wide, for there sheer graft and workmanlike attitudes, both are a big threat coming forward but they also get back and defend, which helps us if our fullbacks get caught up field. Both very quick so push on down the flank look, with Debuchy to really have a go at there fullback, once one is away the other can cut inside looking to threaten there goal, Depay on the other hand with Ricardo sprinting passed will more than likely drift inside looking for the ball as he looks to take on a shot or get the ball to Neymar or Benzema. Both Depay and Sanchez are massive goal threats when they come inside

Neymar in a free rol allowing him to drift and switch with the wingers t any time the three will rotate and cause confusion in there defence, he wont stand still for a moment and with support from the wingers they will be a huge threat. He favours pushing to the left so go outside Depay allowing him into the central role, pass and move all the time klooking for opportunities to go for goal or indeed supply Benzema with easy chances. Very skillful is Neymar and does like to take his men on and more often than not leave them behind as he drives forward.

Benzema will get plenty chances, he must put away this Swansea side who will be stuffy. Get into positions that he can go for goalor at very least drag players away for other players to drive into the space. Good in the air and two good feet, can score from various angles/ranges..All of our front four will be a threat today we must go for it and keep pace with the league leaders.

4-2-3-1. Direct going forward, playing with width, and seeking to attack down the flanks. Rigid in defence. The attacking four, and fbs will be fluid positionally going forward.

Defending in a rigid unit we aim to frustrate Brum. Getting everyone behind the ball quickly, and pressing as a team. We will defend narrow to the side of the play, moving and pressing as a unit, ensuring there are no gaps in our formation. Casillas and RVP offer the leadership at either end of the field in what is a young side full of pace.

Strength and power in the centre of midfield, both strong in possession, will be able to spread the play, and provide protection to the defence allowing both fbs to bomb forward. Song’s partnership with RVP also adds a further threat.

Attacking movement in the final third is key. One of the fb or wg running inside, the other going down the line. This ensures we have at least one dummy run, creating space and pulling Brum defenders out of position.

In the final third, the key features of our play will be direct passing and fast combination layoffs between Eriksen, RVP and the wide players as we look to attack down the flanks. Movement creates space for Eriksen to play the killer ball.

------------- Casillas
Danilo – Reid – Manolas – Moreno
-------- A.Song – Camacho
Sterling ---- Eriksen --- Draxler
------------ van Persie

Defence

Importantly we have a side that will form a strong defensive unit. Defending in numbers in a rigid 4-5-1 formation we want to win the ball back as quickly as possible. Pressing as a team as soon as their midfield pick up the ball.

When there dm’s come deep to get the ball, RVP and one of WGs/AM shut out the space in front of them, force them back to their defenders as our fb’s pick up their wingers, Song the further forward cm and winger on the opposite side of play pick up their am. This leaves two ams and RVP to press. Camacho ensuring there is no gaps in between our defence and midfield.

The defence will ensure that as Brum advance further up the park, the team drops deeper so there is no space in behind. As Brum advance into higher areas of the park and into our half, our shape will resemble a 4-1-4-1.

Camacho drops in between defence and midfield, reading the play and sweeping up danger in between the lines. Song and Eriksen in cm. This shape ensures there is no space for Brum to work in. Push them in to areas where they can’t hurt us. When they get to areas where they can hurt us, crowd them out.

Our fb’s up against their wide forwards are to drop off more and narrow the play so they can bide their time, waiting for the right time to make the tackle and not diving in. If he does manage to get past you, there’s a chance to stop the cross.

The second cm, holds a central position in front of the back, with the third attacking mid coming narrow and deep next to him providing a further wall in between those pressing and the back four. Narrowing the play to the side Brum are attacking, crowding them out and pushing them backwards and wide away from danger. When they switch play, we switch over.

High up the pitch only giving their defence time on the ball. As soon as they go to their midfield, press, force them backwards.

Attack

Win the ball, break forward quickly. Direct passing into space where possible. Quick interchangeable passing moves. Pass and move.

Both fbs will attack, Camacho and Song offering the protection to defence. Camacho always stays deep in front of the midfield, keeping passing simple. Song has more freedom to get forward and pick passes, looking for RVP in particular.

Eriksen will look for space in between the opposition defence and midfield, exploiting any space and feeding our wingers and RVP.

Attacking movement in the final third is key. One of the fb or wg running inside, the other going down the line. This ensures we have at least one dummy run, creating space and pulling defenders out of position.

van Persie has freedom to play his natural game, find space to get the ball, the attacking trio will be racing forward to join. The linkup play of Song and RVP will also add a further threat.

Subs. Butland, Carrick, Besic, Herrera, El Sha, Jese, Giroud

If winning or drawing after 68 mins bring on Herrera for Song. Bringing fresh energy to the side, allowing us to keep the high tempo, and adding more quality going forward.

If winning or drawing after 70 mins bring on Jese for Draxler. Fresh pace.

If losing after 65 mins bring on Herrera for Camacho. More energy and pace, in defence and attack.

If losing after 75 mins bring on Giroud and Jese for RVP and Draxler. Eriksen goes left, front two up top in attacking 4-4-2.

-----------------Valdes-----------------
Darmian Smalling Jagielka L.Baines
Shaqiri Wanyama McCarthy Lallana
-----------------Kagawa----------------
-------------------Bony------------------

Kiko, Van Dijk, Rodwell, Januzaj, Austin, Naismith, Defoe

Valdes back in between the sticks, experienced goalkeeper, great shot stopper, great to have him in goal behind the back four. Will look to dominate his patch of grass and get the ball moving quickly.

Leighton Bainesand Darmian at fullback. We must keep concentration at all times, Mark the attacking players ie Baines and Darmian must stop their wingers getting to the bye line any way they can and stop them cutting inside. Smalling will pick up their centre forward and mark him very tightly. Jagielka is the Captain and he is there to lead by example, keep the back four in a line when we defend making it impossible for them to break us down. Jagielka will mark the second striker if they play one or anyone else moving forward like a centre back etc. A strong back four who must stay vigilant at all times even if we are attacking. Smalling is fantastic on the ball so when in no danger he can roam forward, but this is done sporadically, he is a big goal threat from set pieces.

Wanyama again in the DM role, a hard man to break done and very effective in the tackle his experience gets him into the correct positions when he needs to be to stop there attacking midfielder, do not allow him time or space to support the CF or indeed shorten the time he has to pass the ball around him. along with McCarthy they will look to dominate the game, McCarthy can move up the field to assist Kagawa and Bony but he must be careful, we cannot be exposed against a decent side, In Kagawa, Shaqiri and Lallana we have two very quick wingers and a great AM who can interchange, when we attack I want it to be done very quickly. Down the right I want Darmian and Shaqiri to work in tandom, thus using each other to get the space required to get to the bye line, give and go. Shaqiri is very quick andskillful so will be a handful for there Left back. When the right hand attacks Baines stays back, Lallana moves into the box to support Bony and the same on the other side when the left hand side attacks, Shaqiri gets into the box, Darmian stays back, so when we are going forward we always have at least two ready to pounce on the cross balls, McCarthy on the edge and depending what side two players down the wing looking to get these cross balls in. Kagawa will always be looking to get his foot onto the ball so he can set players free, his passing at times is magnificent and can break there defence quickly for Bony to get himself a shot in on target.

Defending this must be a stringent 441 with both wingers tracking back,a system that will stop them coming through, they must work hard as they have some fantastic players who must not be allowed to play.

Bony is strong, a bit of pace and most of all he can score goals, can hold of the CB marking him and drive into the area. Or indeed, he can hold the ball up looking for the support coming his way in Kagawa, Lallana, McCarthy and Shaqiri, Always on the last man ready to get into dangers areas.

Captain - Jagielka
Pens - Bony
Free Kicks - Baines
Corners - Kagawa (Smalling comes up)

Substitues
If we are losing on 70 Minutes Austin will come on for Kagawa and we will go 4-4-2, on 75 Minutes Januzaj for Lallana, and 80 Minutes Darmian will go to CB, Baines to LM and Januzaj will go to RM and Shaqiri into a free role behind the strikers 3412, then 85 Minutes, Defoe for Shaqiri 343

If we are winning Rodwell on for Kagawa on 80 Minutes with Wanyama dropping deep into the 4141 formation, Austin will come on for Bony at the same time, Naismith for Lallana on 85 Minutes

Drawing at 70 Minutes Austin and Januzaj will come on for Bony and Kagawa, with Lallana moving into a central role and Januzaj going LW

Southampton v MANCHESTER UNITED

Injuries: Antonio Valencia, Dani Alves, Steve Mandanda, Rafael Da Silva

-----------------Buffon
Manquillo - Subotic - Howedes - Gaya
-----------Khedira - Perez
----Schurrle - Fabregas - Hazard
-----------------Rooney

Subs: Sokratis, Davies, Gonalons, Pirlo, Hamsik, Gaitan, Lukaku

-------------

Tough but winnable game away at Southampton, they have some very good players in their side, however we have the players to hurt them and cause them real problems. Our front four with assistance from the fullbacks should create plenty of chances, and in Perez and Khedira we have two very good box to box players who can hold the fort while also being creative and joining in the attack on occasion.

Buffon - Distribute from the back to the fullbacks/CM's, stay in communication with your defence throughout, be wary of long range efforts and ensure you stay big for any one on ones. On occasion go long for Rooney.

Subotic/Howedes - Subotic to mark their striker, force him high up the pitch thus limiting his impact close to goal, and Howedes to be the spare man, be first to the second ball and their second striker/AM making runs from midfield. When in possession bring the ball out of defence and use the midfielders ahead of you to help us play out from the back. Both of you go forward for setpieces.

Manquillo/Gaya - Both of you to force the Southampton wingers out wide, do not allow them to come inside as this will cause more problems for our midfield. They will want to cut inside so force them outside and block their crosses at source. They will try to create problems infield so its vital you only show them down the wing. If they play a diamond with no wingers you will need to form a narrow back four with the CB's and leave no spaces in behind. When we have possession, push forward and support Schurrle/Hazard as they will try to run inside the fullback and you will provide the overlap to either create space or supply crosses into the area for Rooney and link with Fabregas. You will need to track back very quickly to ensure we don't get caught on the break.

Khedira/Perez - Khedira the defensive midfielder, assist the CB's in dealing with the Southampton attack, if they play an AM stay on him, but don't follow if he drifts wide. If they have a second striker who drops off ensure you're on top of him too. Be first to any loose balls and in possession look for the attackers and pass rather than bring the ball out. Perez is the box to box CM, also able to assist at DM but with more creativity, link the play between defence and attack. Remain composed throughout.

Fabregas - Playing the AM role, with the ball I want you to drift left and right, drag their DM out of position as they will be assigned to track your runs, swap with Schurrle and Hazard on occasion to create confusion and leave space for your teammates to run into. Link with Hazard, Schurrle, Rooney and Perez, look for Rooney on the last defender for a through ball and also shoot if you get the opportunity. Get yourself between their DM and the ball, make them go through you and foul you to stop you, thus creating setpiece chances for us.

Schurrle/Hazard - Both playing out wide and both have the pace and trickery to beat the Southampton fullbacks and get crosses in, but both of you will also have our fullback overlapping giving you the chance to cut inside and get shots in. Look to supply Rooney with chances and also provide yourselves with chances. Link up with Fabregas, and capitalise on the space Rooney's presence will create for you. Without the ball I expect you two to track back and assist your fullback.

Rooney - you will be expected to occupy the Southampton centrebacks, hold up possession and look to turn the defender and shoot. Be strong in the air and look for your teammates trying to pick you out from deep. Shoot on sight. Stay on the last defender's shoulder for any passes in behind.

Subs 70 mins:
If winning: Fabregas off, Pirlo on. Switch to 4-5-1 with Pirlo in-between Khedira and Perez. Absorb pressure and hit on the break.
If drawing: Perez off, Lukaku on. Fabregas into CM, Rooney to AM/SS and Lukaku upfront. Same formation but more attacking threat, push for the winner without overcommitting.
If losing: Perez and Khedira off, Lukaku and Pirlo on. Switch to 4-1-3-2, fullbacks push on to wingbacks, Pirlo the quarterback, Rooney and Lukaku upfront. Push for goals.

Tactics

Overview
We have set up with a 3-5-2 formation today, with the aim to getting extra attacking presences further up the pitch without losing strength in midfield or attack. We are going to play an attacking style of football, being aggressive in the way we defend by pressing really aggressively and high up the pitch.

Goalkeeper
Come for set pieces, punch rather than try the catch, when passing the ball look to play the percentage pass to the wing backs/outside centre backs and keep possession.

Centre Backs
Godin will sit at the base of the 3 organising the back line and is tasked with stopping any attacks coming through the centre of the pitch, and have him go against the striker when balls are played into him.

The other 2 centre backs will play wider, having more freedom to move around and help the wing backs with wide threats or stopping runs from attacking midfielders and press higher up the pitch, they are also both good on the ball so when in possession if there is space to run into, they are given the freedom to move into it and advance the play.

Wing Backs
Both guys have the energy levels to get up and down the pitch all match long, they will be tasked with keeping the width across the pitch forcing the opposition to keep their full backs from constricting the centre of the pitch. They won't put many crosses in, preferring to play shorter passes to players who have come out from the middle of the pitch.

Defensively, they have the wider centre backs to help them if they are outnumbered, but we want them to stop the wide men from cutting inside, forcing them to cross, which gives us a better chance of getting the ball back quickly and launching an attack.

Centre Mids

Henderson and Strootman will be utilising their high energy, all action styles to get themselves around the pitch, being key figures in the pressing game and always making themselves available for a pass when we are in the final third to shift their defensive players that little bit more which could be the difference in getting a player behind them. When defending, both players are looking to press in the middle third of the pitch, pressing the opposition CMs as they are on the ball to rush their decisions and win the ball back.

Attacking Midfielder

Pjanic should be looking to make himself available for a pass as much as possible, having a free role to drift around between their defence and midfield, when we have the ball in the middle of the pitch, he should be looking to drift around the space between the DM and full backs and make them have to make decisions on who goes to him. He should also look to be moving out wider to get the ball and run at defenders or make a key pass when the wing backs have the ball out wide.
Defensively, he should be looking to occupy the playmaking centre mid, stop him dictating the play and being an out ball for the opposition.

Strikers

When attacking, Suarez will look to play a high energy game by being a willing runner down the channels and constantly drift around the defenders looking to get himself a bit of space enough for him to face the defenders and take them on. He should also use his knack of anticipating what the defenders are going to try and get the ball to fend them off and gain that crucial advantage to create a chance for himself or others. Higuain will be more looking to stay more central, so if 1 centre back drifts out of position to try and go to Pjanic/Suarez, he will be left with 1 defender between him and the goal. When defending, they will be the first line of defence, letting the CBs have the ball as much as they want, focusing instead of cutting off the passing lines to the full backs, working with Pjanic, the aim is to get their CB's/Keeper to kick it long with us having a better chance to win the ball back there.

Subs

If Winning

68 mins - Clyne for Candreva - More defensive wingback, gets more stuck in with defensive work.

75 mins - Clichy for Siquera - Fresh defensive legs, Wing backs tuck back in more.

86 mins - Allen for Pjanic, frresh legs and running down the clock.

If Losing

65 mins - Callejon + Mata for Siquera + Strootman - Wing backs act more as wingers, and we go all out to win the tie.

78 mins - Nasri for Henderson - a more attacking presence in the middle of the pitch.

Red Card Directives

Go to 5-3-1 formation, with Higuain going off for the relevant replacement, focus on keeping defensive shape and hitting the opposition on the counter.

If the opposition go down to 10 men, play a more patient game, keeping hold of the ball and making them work to get it back, keep the pitch as wide as possible, try to create holes in their defensive line.

.......Pato..Sakho..Chicharito........

Subs: Schmeichel,Vidic,Powell,Ings,Bernard

Derby day today and we need to get at Merseyside red from the offset,
We have a solid spine as we look to control the centre of the pitch, and thus the game.

Kivrak - Decent keeper and a good shot stopper, will look to come early and claim crosses...3 up top and wing backs will always give him an easy outball

The defence
All 3 centre backs are solid individuals who can deal with Liverpools pacey attack as well as being comfortable with any aerial balls...Zonal marking not man to man...the wider of the centre backs will shuffle over to double up with our wing backs whilst Nastasic will cover the central striker

Richards/Criscito
Both are given free licence to attack at will and add width to our narrow set-up..defensively will show the man the line and force the cross as we're set up well to deal with it

Inler/Toulalan
Both are solid defensive midfielders but are operating box to box duties today as we look to overload Liverpool in attacking areas, and pick up a much needed win

The Trident
3 central strikers attacking the space between the centre halves, as we look to over run liverpools defence...Sakho is fantastic in the air whilst Pato and Chicharito are great finishers, added to decent pace and good movement, we look to pull their centre backs out of position and create space for each other

Game Plan:
Our plan for this game is to utilise our pace to great effect. We want to hit Wolves hard and fast so that they don't have time to form their formation. We want to be at them from the off and don't let off until the game is won. We will move the ball forward as quickly as we can and we will attack in numbers, looking to overrun the Wolves defence.

In defence, we will look to close down as quickly as is humanly possible. We don't want to give them the chance to string two passes together in this game. We will press hard and we will press in numbers with the intention of lessening the potential playing space. Eventually, Wolves will have to attempt a long ball game, where Pepe and Hummels will excel.

Individual Plan:

Lloris: Lloris is a superb shot stopper but he is also quick and strong. We want him to play as a sweeper, rushing out to collect loose balls and making sure our defence is never caught short. He will challenge for all crosses that come close to the 6 yard box.

Carvajal and Marcelo: Both will be looking to bomb forward whenever possible. They will alternate between overlapping on the outside and inside of our wingers so that our attack never becomes stale. In defence, they will look to push closer to midfield in order to narrow the space that Wolves can pass in to.

De Rossi: De Rossi will be looking to play deep today, just in front of the centre backs, where he can intercept balls intent for the front line. In attack, he will sit back but look to play balls to the front line as quickly as possible. In defence, he practically becomes a third centre back.

Modric: Modric will be given a roaming role in attack. He will move around the pitch – in order to dictate the tempo of the game and to pull players out of position, ruining the integrity of Wolves' formation – and he will be looking to feed through balls in to the forwards.
In defence, Modric will shift back in to the midfield slot and look to harass the Wolves midfield players.

Cavani, Gotze and Lavezzi: Cavani and Lavezzi will be, essentially, playing as wide forwards in this game. They will be constantly probing the Wolves defence and switching positions between themselves and Lewandowski and they will look to run at the Wolves defence and cause havoc. In defence, they will track their full backs, we don't want to be overrun on the counter.

Gotze will be looking to play in the hole. Our hope here is that Gotze will be able to create space for himself in the final third where his skill can open up the Wolves defence and either get him a goal or an assist. In defence, he will join Modric and look to block off the midfield path.

Lewnadowski: Lewa will be looking to play as a link up guy as much as a striker. There are plenty of attacking options around him and he will be looking to feed them in as much as he is playing off the shoulder of the last man. Short, quick passes and darting runs between our front 4 should have no problem dissecting the Wolves line.

In defence, he will be expected to drop deep and do his fair share of pressing.

Substitutions:

70 minutes: Nainggolan for De Rossi – Radja's industrious nature should suit this game to the ground. He will play as a box to box midfielder and look to get stuck in from the off.

75 minutes: Felipe Anderson for Lavezzi – This will provide us with fresh legs and a change in formation. With Anderson coming on, we will shift in to a solid 4-4-2 with Gotze and Anderson on the wings and Cavani and Lewandowski up front. We will look to play more as an organised unit that hits on the break with pace.

80 minutes: Kovacic for Modric – Kovacic will perform the same role as Modric but will do so with more energy. He and Radja should combine well as box to box players.

This is a key derby game for us today and we will look to go out and take control from the off, keeping hold of the ball and moving it into space, using central overloads, where this Everton side are a lot slower than us, to our advantage. We will work extremely hard on and off the ball to maintain a control of this game, pressing high to stop them being able to play out and then sitting deeper when we have a comfortable foothold, forcing them to be proactive and opening them up as they leave space behind.

We will begin our defending high in their half, using Costa and Griezmann to press the CBs/CMs, not giving them time and space to pick their passes and making them rush the ball into midfield where we make it compact, and be first to everything, using the other four midfielders, wide men pushed in, to step in and surround Evertons CMs and stop them being creative beginning a 6 man pressing stage as soon as the ball is lost, or we force them long with Terry, Matic, Garay mopping up. Press them quickly, closing off all the spaces, hunting in packs and winning the ball quickly. We will leave Griezmann further forward alongside Costa ready to attack quickly, unless we aren't coping, in which case he drops in. If the ball is moved into wider areas then our midfield push across looking to keep things compact and surround Birmingham on the flank, with the FB also pushing up to shut off space. If we can't win the ball we look to slow the down and regain our defensive shape in a 4-4-1-1 with flat banks of four and Griezmann the spare man defending where he's required.

If they get a foothold in the game or we're comfortably leading the game we will defend deep and counter, force them to take the game to us. We defend in the 4-4-1-1, Costa and Griezmann pressing. Matic and Verratti will shield the defence, looking to use all their power/energy against this Birmingham side, putting in plenty of hard tackles on derby day. They won’t leave their position, no stepping out and leaving a gap, they will always be in front of the defence, we want to stop them getting behind us, and let them play in front of us, with Cuadrado and Lamela following the wide players wherever they go. The back 4 will be compact, CB and FB joined together so that A) there is never any space between them and b) if a defender is beaten they have someone there covering. Stand up up to them and don’t dive in, look to overpower their forwards with Terry man marking the rest covering space, of they drop deep, don't follow, leave to our midfield. When Everton go wide Matic goes out to cover that space with the rest of the team also moving across so that a massive gap isn’t left, with Griezmann able to drop into the DM zone. We will be extremely organised and tough to break down, giving them no space centrally, always leaving them 2-3 players to get through and 2 banks of four and two spare men if they try to pass through us.

On the ball we want to have a command of possession, setting the tempo, mostly at a high pace to take advantage of the extra pace and movement we have in central areas, but slowing things down when there's no spaces, keeping the ball and waiting for one player to step out where he shouldn't so we can move the ball forward. When we attack we do so with the aim of getting around the sides of the CBs. Griezmann starts central and looks to use his pace to get away from challenges in the midfield and then work the ball between his team mates, before confusing forward and looking to run off Costa and between CBs. Lamela will look to come infield and take control of the attacks, using his excellent vision to pick out the runs that the three other forwards will be making, with Cuadrado holding more width ready to stretch the game and linking with a Luis to get around the side of the defence. Once we get into these positions between the defenders and in the channels, we have Costa and Griezmann who's movement in the box is going to be too much for the slower CBs, he will look to peel off and be a a target, whilst the two from the front three who do not have the ball, will also look to attack the box and provide an option, particularly Lamela and Griezzman when we use our left side to build. They key to the attacks is the movement, the three behind Costa are all interchangeable allowing us to switch things up and send the ball in different directions, whilst with Luis the obvious attacker from FB, Azpi can be ready to make runs down the right into open space as we switch from left to right quickly. Further back Verratti and Matic are there to keep the control in our play, Verratti looking to pull the strings and dictate the tempo, gliding about the pitch and finding the spaces to direct our play, whilst Matic can also step forward and allow us to overwhelm Everton. When the ball is won Costa/Griezmann/Cuadrado must be ready to move because with the likes of Matic and Lamela in the side we also have the option of a ball over the top/down the side of the defence, we have the pace advantage. When we are deeper we play on the counter and this is when we look to use extra width, attacking the space Everton leaves outwide and stretching the remaining defenders, once away our attack won't be caught so it leaves us offensive overload situations.

Subs:

If Winning: Asamoah for Lamela 70', Asamoah plays alongside Matic and Verratti, Griezmann left, Cuadrado right. This gives us the legs in midfield to break quickly but also make sure they can't create any chances. N'Koulou for Luis 75', 5-4-1, Asamoah LWB. Tielemans for Verratti 80', like for like and another chance to impress for the youngster.

If Drawing: N'Koulou and Asamoah for Azpilicueta and Luis 70', 3-4-2-1. Cuadrado and Asamoah can use their pace and get round the sides of the defence, with the two behind Costa then able to provide the overloads. Thauvin for Lamela 75', comes on and looks to be a creative spark.

If Losing: N'Koulou and Asamoah for our FBs, 60' onwards(whenever we fall behind), If drawing formation changes. Garcia for Verratti 70', with three CBs we feel we can do the majority of the defending in the opponents half so Garcia will push and make a nuisance of himself alongside Costa, dropping to Cm when we are defending deeper. Also means we have them boxed in if they try to break, making it quicker to win possession or force them longer:

When attacking -

---------------Courtois
------N'Koulou-Terry-Garay
-----------------Matic
Cuadrado-Lamela-Griezmann-Asamoah
--------------Garcia--Costa

We use the pace and work off the two big targets upfront.

When defending deep -

--------------Courtois
------Nkoulou-Terry-Garay
Cuadrado-Matic-Garcia-Asamoah
----------Lamela-Griezmann
----------------Costa

Pastore > Cazorla - 60th minute - As the game opens up in the latter stages we'll give Pastore the freedom to play a free role in the centre and look to use his vision to get the strikers/wingers in real space.

Kane > Tevez - 70th minute - Kane look to play a similar role to Tevez looking to hold up the play and getting others involved whilst making late runs into the box.

80th min+ (if winning) Wilshere > Fernando - A fresh face in midfield to ensure we can dictate the tempo of the game to our needs.
----------------------
The outline:
We look to play more possession based football today looking to out number our opposition in midfield and taking a firm grip on the proceedings, wingers have the freedom to play their game and cut inside whilst Tevez makes runs in behind and occupies their defence.

We must from the outset look to present a physical and aggressive approach. I want us to prevent them from playing with any rhythm or flow so we must work as a cohesive unit working tirelessely to defend whilst going forward we can exploit them with the pace we possess.

In defence we look to defend deep as we feel this suits our CB’s best in looking to cut off any supply to their striker. We’ll look to dominate physically looking to bully off the ball showing who’s boss. Ramos and Marquinhos must dominate from the outset and their quality should come to the fore. In midfield S.Busquets and Fernando must maintain the pressure and look to disrupt the play.
-----------------
Individual tactics:

De Gea has strong competition so must be on his toes, I want him to command his area, very vocal, quick off his feet and distribution swift and on point.

FB’s both very solid defensively and must look to keep it simple today, we need to present from the outset that it will take an almost striking effort to get past these two, I want us to get as physical as possible looking to muscle them off the ball and generally looking to use a bullying demeanour. Our wingers need to assist them as much as possible doubling up on the opposition’s and not giving an inch so we can prevent them cutting inside and imposing themselves.
Ramos and Marquinhos add additional layers to our defensive solidarity, Ramos is as committed as they come and should look to lead the line. He’s responsible for marking their main striker today and should firmly look to get stuck in going toe to toe with every challenge and pushing him back as much as possible, I want us to suck as much confidence out of their striker as possible due to his limited involvement so he makes fewer runs and worth ethic is questioned. Marquinhos partners Ramos and is entirely in his comfort zone. He should look to keep an eye on second runners and look to keep everything in check generally staying alert to any danger.

S.Busquets and Fernando add force and bite to our midfield, Busquets should look to flex his muscles and get snapping at heels. He must work tirelessly for the full 90 setting the perfect example to others as we work collectively to keep them out. Fernando partners and I want him to run his socks off. I want him getting stuck in so we can retrieve the ball back as quickly as possible and start our own attacks.

Rakitic will act as the focal point, we generally want everything to pass through him. I want him pulling the strings and dictating the play, v direct looking to use his vision to get others in on goal and making late runs into the box to get on the end of deliveries. Cazorla has the freedom to play his game, I want him coming inside and playing short snappy passes linking with others to slice open their defence , Ribery very direct looking to take on players and cutting inside to good measure looking to make things happen.

C.Tevez is the perfect foil for us up top today, v well experienced at playing such a role and will defiantly get the better of defenders as he is strong, powerful and can hold his own. A very willing runner and likes to get involved as much as possible whilst not the type to get bogged down. He’ll look to link-up with others as much as possible and rile their defenders both on and off the ball.

Subs – martinez, Chambers, Kolarov, Ramsey, Hererra,, Campbell, carvahlo

75 – Herrera with Ox – swap positions with Silva

Game Plan – I want my team to play counter attacking football. We need to be in their faces by continuously pressing them and keeping all men behind the ball (when we are off the ball). When on the ball we need to be direct and composed. We need to use our wingers as much as possible because that is where I believe we can take advantage of them. Their full backs will be attacking a lot and leaving plenty of gaps behind them. We need to dominate the midfield battle and control the game how we want it to be controlled. We need to control possession and work the ball into spaces. Try and keep it tight for the opposition so when we get the ball we can exploit any spaces left.

Our full backs and wingers shall press as well. Our team will be aiming to obtain the ball as soon as possible and then punish the opposition with swift attacks. We want to play a deep defensive line and keep things tight on the pitch. Therefore we shall aim to keep our defence behind the centre circle off the ball bar our full backs who will be invited to move forward. We want to reduce the amount of freedom the opposition has on the ball. Our players will keep close to the opposition’s men and push them back. We want to force errors out of them and push off the ball. Our two centre backs will stick together, whether that is when we are off the ball or when we are up for set pieces. The full backs shall cover the goal area during these set pieces. Our full backs shall be keeping our defensive line tight when we are off the ball, sticking in a line with our centre backs. However on the ball I want them moving forward and helping form the attacks. Our two defensive midfielders will be looking to slow down play, hold the ball and create opportunities by moving the ball forward as quick as possible. Defensively this will force the game to be tight and cancel out the opposition. On the ball it should free up space for our attackers and move forward as quickly as possible.

Our attacking play will be fast and neat. Our two defensive midfielders will be breaking up play, holding on to the ball and then setting our wingers free. This means we want to play with plenty of pace. Out of our 2 wingers Ox is our fastest and we are likely to get some space in this area. Silva is playing central today so he should be able to make plenty of runs. Our wingers and number 10 shall be integrating with each other’s play and therefore we will have plenty of options during our attacks.

Positional Tactics:

Lahm should play as a wing back. I want him to move forward during our attacks. He should stay out wide to create a crossing option. I want him to create space for our wingers. While defending Lahm should try and push the player back. If he can’t do that he should push him out wide to a position where he has to kick the ball off. Gibbs should play the same way.

Kompany should use his height and strength to keep the striker(s) out of the game. I want him to keep with that attacker at all times or keep him offside. He should try and header every ball out of the box or kick it away preferably to the wingers. He should only go up for corners/free kicks. Chiellini should play the same way as Kompany.

Bender will be the DM. He should look to disrupt their attacking play and reduce the space around their playmaker. He should hold his position and not get caught up field. I want him to control the style of the game we play. While acting as cover for our defence he should also separate the midfield from the defence by keeping hold of the ball and form attacks.

Yaya will be our box-box midfielder. I want him to identify spaces up the pitch. He should take hold of the ball and supply it to any of the front 3 ahead and try to exploit any space. When we’re attacking I want him to move up and stay in space. When off the ball he should be a ball winning player.

I want Ox to use his skill and pace and make runs into the box. He must use his pace to outrun the full back but also his quality control of the ball to dribble round him. When we’re off the ball I want him help Bellerin cover their full back. I would like Ronaldo to do the same.

Silva should use his pace and strength to make runs into the box and opening up space for Aguero. He will look to supply the ball to the wingers as well. Try and force their defensive midfielder to move out of position and allow our wingers to use that space by running into the centre. Off the ball he should drop back and play deeper therefore he will be able to use more of his trickery to open up games during a counter attack.

I would like Silva, Ox and Ronaldo to intersect and change positions.

Aguero must use his pace and skill to open up spaces for the wingers and central players to run into. I want him to stay inside the box so that he remains an option in the middle. However he should drop deeper to bring the defenders forward and open up space behind them. He should look to overpower their defenders with his pace and strength and height. He should constantly look to move into space to create himself as an option for the defence. When we’re defending he should mark the player at the edge of the box.

General:
Aston Villa’s set-up will be reminiscent to the Dutch team in the 2014 World Cup. A back three, two central midfielders, 2 wing backs, a 10 and two centre forwards. Aston Villa’s back three can situationally morph into a back five with the wing backs dropping into the defensive line. Aston Villa’s 3-2 defensive block will allow easy circulation of the ball in the defensive area due to the natural positioning of the players in this system. This team will be one that presses in defensive phase, one which moves the ball quickly in transition phase and one which circulates the ball to open spaces. The 3 up front will look to take up good positions and cover space, reducing possible passes for the opposition team. The ball will be moved quickly when Aston Villa regain possession to take advantage of opened up space with the opposition not in their normal defensive structure. Both forwards need to make sure they run into wide areas where the full backs are probably missing and get a 1v1 with the centre halves where one could put the ball in and while the other gets into the box, link up with full backs when they come forward as well. The centre midfielder and the number 10 will get up to support the attack. Defending the 18 yard line is the main aim and will limit the opposition to long shots. All players stick to positions and won’t be dragged out of position. If the opposition want to play fancy passing and have 90% possession, let them, but our team will be compact not allowing anything to get into the 18 yard box.

Navas:
Claim crosses if possible. Always clear lines, and hoof up the pitch towards the strikers whenever possible. The ball must stay clear of the 18 yard box at all times. Communication is key with centre halves to avoid confusion when deciding who claims a loose ball / cross.

Can and Koscielny:
Deals with opposition attackers. Koscielny keeps an eye on their attacking midfielder when he gets close to the 18 yard line. Koscielny will also mark their striker closely not allowing him space to turn. Koscielny or Koke will deal with knock-downs to their supporting player depending on who is closer. Can will try and win headers when long balls are played towards the back line. Can will not be as aggressive but step up to attack players that come down his side. Koscielny will be the centre half who steps up and clears up balls before it reaches their attackers, but must only go if he’s 100% sure he’ll get it. Both will protect the central centre half to the best of their abilities. Go up for corners.

Toprak:
Sits in line with the other two centre halves, he is not a sweeper. Will try and win headers when long balls are played towards the back line. Will also clean up any balls / players who manage to get through the other two centre halves. Go up for corners.

Zabaleta and Shaw:
Will both go forwards and support the attack. Will also act as extra bodies in midfield to help with holding onto the ball. Can drop into a back 5 if necessary. Main aim is to provide width and thump in crosses at every opportunity. Shoot if there is a clear sight of goal. Stays back for corners. Must not commit to tackles otherwise wingers will skip past them, just stay close, limit their space and show them onto their weaker foot.

Koke and Kroos:
Sits deep, breaks up play and snap at their heels then break with the ball. Koke is an engine that can cover a lot of ground when defending. Kroos will buzz around and dictate play, bursting forwards at times to provide an extra body in attack. Kroos will be a bit ahead of Koke to be more involved in exchanging passes with full backs / De Bruyne, even going level with De Bruyne at times to use his incredible vision to find teammates. Koke stays close to the centre halves. Both sprays balls wide to wing backs and directly to the front 3. Koke stays back for corners. Will not allow the opposition any time on the ball in front of centre halves. Koke sticks to position when wing backs fly forwards, providing cover if needed. Koke will stand outside the box during set pieces to smack in rebounds if not taking a set piece.

De Bruyne:
Will constantly hit balls towards both strikers and if not possible, to the wing backs flying forwards. The number 10 will press the opposition along with the the other midfielders when without the ball. Will stand outside the box if not taking a set piece to hit a rebound.

Sturridge and Dost:
Holds up play for the support midfielders and spray the ball wide to wing backs when they come forward, if not then they will pull wide to exploit attacking space. Get into the box at every opportunity when their partner pulls out to wide areas. Both should be able to play quick one-twos with each other if they happen to be close to each other. Both will play on the shoulder of the opposition defence and will attempt at times to get in the space between centre halves and full backs, if there isn’t a lot of space. Their pace will allow long balls to be launched occasionally to them.

SUBS:
Winning/Drawing:
75 mins: De Bruyne OFF Fernandinho ON
Fernandinho replaces De Bruyne and will slot into centre midfield to shore up the midfield and to help keep the ball better in order to close the game out. Proper 3 in midfield.

Losing:
75 mins: De Bruyne OFF Pelle ON
Essentially going 3-4-3 where Pelle will join Sturridge and Dsot up front. Offers the option for the others to hoof the ball up to the front line.

Game plan: our plan today is to go at Newcastle from the off, we're experimenting with a new team and system and will be looking to express ourselves in this game.

Benatia and Miranda are to talk to each other constantly and be wary of the movement of the Newcadtle CF, but they will not be sucked out of position, Witsel and Marchisio will be providing cover in front of the back 4, so if the CF wants to drop off, the CB's are to hold their position and communicate to Witsel and Marchisio that they have an extra man to watch.

Marchisio will get up and down the pitch throughout, has terrific energy and is very creative and can carry the ball, will look to move the ball quickly, as will the whole team, we will play with a high tempo throughout the game not giving Newcastle any breathing space.

--------------------Muslera--------------------
Caceres----Tomkins----Vertong----Kolarov
-------------Carvalho----Ramires------------
--------------------Sneijder-------------------
---Mirallas--------------------------Shaqiri---
--------------------Jackson--------------------

Ospina, Bacuna, Hernanes, Sissoko, Sinclair, Thorgan, Huntelaar

Strong back 4 led by Vertonghen, he sits as the spare defender as Tomkins looks to pick up the CF, he will keep very close to him and be on him very quickly when they come forward, look to hold him back be strong but nothing stupid, Vertong will take a step back and be wary of the forward getting through or indeed any other player that breaks free, both clear the lines, nothing fancy. Caceres and Kolarov are quite different, Kolarov likes to attack so will be given a free go at it today as Caceres is told to stay back and keep a back 3 at all times, Kolarov will support Shaqiri and the left hand side of our attack will be very dangerous as he over laps Shaqiri looking to get beyond the fullback and whip in dangerous crosses, Caceres in possession will look to pass it forward and move to the halfway line nop further, but make himself available for the ball back to start afresh. Defend the lines and keep wingers to the outside.

Carvalho comes in as our midfield enforcer, he stops there AM dictating play forcing him back and into silly misplaced passes, very difficult man to get passed and they will be intimidated by his power, size and sheer strength, will be partnered by Ramires, he will get up and down the pitch defending and supporting our attack, another feisty player so the two eill be very difficult opposition today for them. Sneijder in front will pass the ball about with ease, look to get the front three away and watch for the drive of Ramires going passed him, always head up looking for the right pass to play. Stop there DM making passes and coming forward.

Mirallas and Shaqiri will be a huge threat today, both quick and skillful with a good eye for goal, support Jackson and the three will get goals, Kolarov supporting Shaqiri out wide allows the winger to cut inside and drive into the box, or look for a cut back from the left back and go for goal from just outside the box, Mirallas will look to cut inside using Sneijder for one twos, quick passing to allow him to try and break into the opposition box, defend the lines and support fullbacks aas best they can.

Jackson comes in, a natural goal scorer, can score with either foot and is very good in the air, so always be looking to get into dangerous positions to allow Sneijder to play him in or look for the crosses coming in from outwide. Always on the last man, running the line looking for gaps to appear so he can get in on goal.

----------------------Neuer----------------------
D.Alves-----Mangala-----Bonucci-----Laporte
-----------------------Blind-----------------------
---------------Guarin------Pogba----------------
Sanchez---------------------------------Neymar
---------------------Benzema--------------------

Varane(GK), Vidal, Sterling, Rabiot, Depay, Cavani, Vietto

We line up with Neuer in goal, proved he is the best there is atm, a fantastic shot stopper and a keeper that screams at his defence to keep them in position, Will come for high balls and punch clear what he cant catch, comes off his line eatrly to close down strikers to reduce their shooting angles, will release the ball early to set up quick counters.

The defence has been pretty solid this season but on this occassion Mangala will mark the CF, stick close at all times watching his movement and do not give him space or time to turn in on goal, even when we attack always be mindful of where he is. They tend to play a big striker so this is why Mangala is in to stop the aeriel threat, Bonucci beside him is spare and will help out other defenders if in need, takes a step back to give him just that extra little bit of time in case any one loses there marker, he will be there to close them down. Both cbs are comfortable on the ball so if they have time and in no danger start attacks from deep by carrying the ball out. Alves and laporte at FB will have to stay focussed, sit as a four to stop them coming through, look to push the wingers out wide and stop them from getting balls into the CF. When we attack it will be D.Alves who does it the most, he is very quick and has a great eye for goal so with Sanchez the two will be a real danger to there rightback, look to drive passed Sanchez allowing him to cut inside and look for the return ball to whip in a dangerous cross. Laporte will sit in most times and will get up and support Neymar but not one to sprint passed him so he will just makes himself available to start attacks again if need be.

Blind sits in and takes care of there AM, he will have to be on top of his game against the AM who is very talented, but Blind has the game in him to shut him out, again always watch his movement and never stray too far away from him as to not allow him the time to turn or dictate play, when he wins the ball nice simple balls to those around him.
Pogba and Guarin ahead of him have the freedom to attack with Blind sitting in, however, when they attack I want them sitting as a three to shut them off. When we go forward both are a big threat in front of goal, they both have loads of stamina and will never give in, pass and move get the wide players into the game, all four (Sanchez, Neymar) are an attacking force who will support Benzema and be a huge threat o there defence. One touch, one/twos to get round there back 4 and into Benzema, always making themselves available for the return ball. A massive driving force in this team and will look to force Birmingham back and stop there attacking threat.

Sanchez and Neymar, are both deadly, quick and skillful, love taking on and beating players, Sanchez has all the tricks in hos locker, so will frustrate their LB into fouls in dangerous areas, he loves to cut inside so will use Pogba and Guarin to pass and move into a central position where he is deadly in front of goal, with Alves bombing up the wing he can also use him as an option to free himself up and drive inside. Neymar always has his head up looking to get in on goal, his tricks and flicks are tremendous and will look to get the ball in between their players and again drive on looking for the return ball so he can either cross in or drive at goal. With Benzema as the focul point both will look to him to knock it down or lay it off if he hiomself cant go for goal, his movement is key today, dont allow himself to be picked up by the CB too closly, as we drive at Hull we must look to drag the defenders away,a t times we will have 6 players going at them so the more we spread the play and move into new positions the more scrambled there defence will become. Allowing us more room to go for goal. Benzema can shoot with eiother foot and if he leaps early enough should win his fair share of headers.

We defend as a team so both wingers must track back, Neymar just stop there RB moving forward and Sanchez the LB. Defend from the front and do not allow them any time on the ball.

Arsenal vs United

--------------------Cech
Lahm---Jones----Chiellini---Monreal
-------------------Bender
-----------Silva---------Yaya
Ox--------------------------------Di Maria
------------------Ronaldo

Subs – Foster, Chambers, Kolarov, Ramsey, El Sharaawy, Giroud, carvahlo

70 – Ramsey For Bender– Swap positions with Yaya
75 – Giroud for Ox – swap positions with Ronaldo
83 – Carvalho for Silva – Move next to Yaya in a 4-2-3-1 with Ramsey ahead and Ronaldo and Di Maria on wings.

Ramsey – Comes on to control possession and create a few more goalscoring opportunities
Giroud – Become the target man and poach some goals
Carvalho – Create a defensive wall to prevent the opposition from breaking us down in the last few mins and also take advantage of their lack of energy.

--------------------------------------------------------

Game Plan – For todays game we’re going to try and take the game to United. We want to crowd out the midfield and slow the game out due to the pace that their side behold. Hazard has been on terrific form this season so In order to keep him and their other top players out of the game we shall keep the game edgy and cancel them out.

Our most important players today are our central midfielders. All three will be looking to stick to their positions and reduce the amount of space through the middle. This will push the play out wide where I believe we can win the battle. If by some miracle United get an attack and cross it in, I am 99.9999999999% sure that my centre backs and other defensive minded players can deal with it. We shall keep the defence quite deep today. During an attack they shall not go any further than half way their half, the central 3 players shall stay around the centre circle with only one of schwein or eriksen allowed to attack at any one time. The other three players have the license to roam around the pitch.

On the attack we shall be looking to plant the ball to the wingers who will be looking to use their skill and pace to get the ball to Ronaldo. One of Silva or Yaya shall go up to help but will only hang around just outside the box when the ball is in their end. Ronaldo will always be looking for space in the box so he will always be a target for someone.

On the defensive side all three central players shall stay together in their positions and the two wingers will act as wing backs to reduce the space the United players behold..

Overall I want my team to play the majority of the game keeping the game slow, physical and breaking up play as much as possible. We want to show them no respect on the pitch and allow for time wasting. We shall keep the game edgy and push their team back.

Jones should use his height and strength to keep the striker(s) out of the game. I want him to keep with that attacker at all times or keep him offside. He should try and header every ball out of the box or kick it away preferably to the wingers. He should only go up for corners/free kicks. Chiellini should play the same way as Jones.

When we’re off the ball I want him help Lahm cover their full back. I would like Di Maria to do the same.

Silva should use his pace and strength to make runs into the box and opening up space for Ronaldo. He will look to supply the ball to the wingers as well. Try and force their defensive midfielder to move out of position and allow our wingers to use that space by running into the centre. Off the ball he should drop back and play deeper therefore he will be able to use more of his trickery to open up games during a counter attack.

I would like Silva, Ox and Di Maria to intersect and change positions.

Ronaldo must use his pace and skill to open up spaces for the wingers and central players to run into.

3-4-2-1. Inherently an attacking formation that aims to take the game to our opponents and defend high up the pitch. Wing backs stretching the play as wide as possible when in possession, creating space for our fluid front three, who are granted creative freedom when attacking.

Fast flowing possession based football, playing out from the back. We seek to start attacks at the back, Carrick setting the tempo and spreading the play. The back three allows our side to press high up the pitch, and allows our central midfielders the freedom to attack. The two attacking midfielders will find space between the opposition defence and midfield. We play direct to these pockets of space where possible, allowing us to attack quickly and immediately put the opposition on the back foot.

A team full of energy, we seek to play with a high tempo from the off.

----------------- Casillas
------- W.Reid - Carrick - Manolas
der Wiel – B.Matuidi – Ander - Moreno
-------- C.Eriksen ----- J.Draxler
--------------- van Persie

Subs. Butland, Jenko, A.Song, H.Herrera, Jese, A.Ljajic, Llorente

Carrick playing out from the back and dictating the tempo of our play. In front of them we have a solid team, capable of defending in numbers, but importantly being able to put the opposition under pressure high up the pitch. The formation also allows us to overload the opposition in attack, the wing backs stretching the play, allowing a fluid front three that will work together to create space and opportunities for the side.

Press high, and keep the opposition where they can’t hurt us.

The midfield pairing will look to quickly feed the attackers, and then to support and one will seek to get beyond. Dragging players out of position and creating openings. Win the ball, break forward quickly. Direct passing into space where possible. Quick interchangeable passing moves. Exploiting the space in between their defence and midfield.

van Persie up front is tasked with finding space to receive the ball in dangerous areas. Draxler will seek to support as quickly as possible, while Eriksen is the playmaker, always seeking to create.

In possession, a back three with one of the two central midfieldres in front gives us great defensive security in open play when we seek to attack. Importantly, the wing backs are both strong defenders.

Defence

We will look to defend high up the pitch, playing a high pressing game. If the opposition have possession in their own half, our formation will resemble a 3-6-1. Looking to get all bodies in the opposition half bar our 3 cbs. Put high pressure on the opposition. Don’t let them play.

In the middle third, when the opposition attack the back 3 narrow to the side of the park the opposition are attacking. Reid/Manolas pick up their more adavanced wide forward and striker. Carrick is spare.

The wb on that side to pick up their fb getting forward or doubling up on the winger. On the other side the wb drops deep, picking up their winger. If they switch to the opposite fullback, they will be in a deep position where we simply move across quickly as a unit to setup in the same manner on the other side.

Essentially, we seek to negate the problem of space behind an attacking wb, by our wide cb being in a position to instinctively cover. Our high defence will consist of our forward, wbs, two ams and one cm pushing forward to mark and close down the opposition. One cm remains in a deeper position to cover in front of the back three, negating the space between the cbs on the side of the play.

We only retreat into a back five as part of a deep block after the initial high defence had been bypassed and the opposition are moving forward into our half.

As the opposition progress up the pitch, we will drop deeper. With 3 cbs the gaps between them are generally smaller, and with the additional cover of der Wiel and Moreno it will be difficult for the opposition forwards to find space.

In these positions, the two attacking midfielders drop to the midfield, one to the wing the opposition are attacking down, the other central.

Attack

We will be patient moving the ball out from defence, the midfield however will look to be direct in the opposition half. Quick passing football, keeping the ball on the deck. Pass and move simple. We want the midfield to be quick on the ball, not taking too many touches, find our forwards quickly, then look to get forward and ahead of them.

We will generally look to start attacks playing out from the back, with Carrick setting our tempo, keeping things simple when we need to. Our midfielders will look to come deep, to orchestrate the play, and entice the opposition out of position. Create gaps in their formation.

The midfield should never be flat. Create as many lines as possible to increase the options we have in possession, and to create gaps in the opposition. In the middle of the park we look to keep the ball on the deck passing in triangles, triangles that are directed out wide, as we look to shift the ball wider as we advance into the opposition half.

Wbs look to get at the opposition fbs, with RVP, two ams and 1 cm bombing forward, we should overload the opposition defence making it extremely difficult to pick up our players in and around their box. One of the cms will stay slightly deeper, offering the option to go backwards, and allow him to orchestrate our play and pick a pass.

Our setup gives our attackers great freedom when we are attacking, they are able to find the space to get the ball in dangerous areas.

Subs.

If winning after 69 mins bring on Jese for RVP. Pace to expose the opposition as they push for a goal.
If winning after 75 mins bring on Jenkinson for der Wiel. Fresh legs out wide. Keep the tempo up.
If winning after 80 mins bring on Song for Ander Herrera. Strength to see out the game.

If drawing after 65 mins bring on Hector Herrera for Ander Herrera. Fresh energy and ideas.
If drawing after 78 mins bring on Llorente for Draxler. 3-4-1-2. Route one.
If drawing after 84 mins bring on for Jese for der Wiel. More attacking option as we push for win.

If losing after 62 mins bring on Llorente for Draxler. 3-4-1-2. Route one.
If losing after 72 mins bring on Jese for der Wiel.
If losing after 77 mins bring on Ljajic for Moreno.
