club. rather spurs win a penalty than England win the world cup.

fack this is a tough one, WC is more important than winning the league though

Difficult, as we have experienced CL and PL success recently though I would say that, for a few years of not winning either, I would like to see England win the WC. However, if it was one of 10 years with no PL or CL title or 3 years without CL at all, I would go with club.

club football is so much more important.

if I go into work on a Monday and spurs have won and arsenal have lost then I am going to stick it to the goooner caaaant.

if I go into work and England have won and I go , oh we won this weekend, and he goes yeah so did we, then where is the fun in that.

club football is tribal and passionate.

international football is boring and a total waste of everyones time

not to mention how many spurs players get injured on international duty.

Eriksen last season was the latest one....

furthermore, why anyone would want to support a team that absolute cretins like jack wilshere play for, and in the past john terry, is anyones guess.

International Football only matters as much to people in the summer. It's something people always moan about when it is running parallel to the football season.

In honesty, I care about my club 365 days a year- whereas I love my country but I only get up for it probably a few days either side of them playing.

think you may want to have a re read of my comment

I think it does slightly depend on how successful your club team is, saying that club football as Chronic says is far more important in everyone's day to day lives. That is where your weekends, your money, your heart goes.

To say you would abstain from a club trophy for a decade seems way too far for me

yeah that's just it.

club football is day to day. once you have your club you have your club.

international football is different. I cried when England got knocked out of euro 96 when I was a little kid, but in this world cup I want brazil and Belgium to do well and so will be following them

Irish. What has it got to do with the nationality?

English people are just as obsessed with club loyalties as I am.

Football must be one of the only sports played around the globe (so excluding a lot of the American sports, not to knock them or anything) that club is bigger than international.

That said, as a choice between Liverpool winning the CL next season and England winning the World Cup, I would choose England.

There's nothing more special than going to a pub where basically everyone is cheering on the same team. I think a World Cup win would also change people's perceptions on international football. I think many fans who are English (as opposed to England fans) don't take much of an interest in England because they don't think they can win it.

don't think this matters.

spurs have no chance winning the top prize in club football, but it doesn't stop the support.

the way I see it, spurs and England (or any international team) is a conflict of interest. it is simply not possible in my opinon, to support both properly.

only my personal opinion though.

course you can.

I usually like the hosts to do well, plus a dark horse to perform and upset the big boys. like how south korea did back in 2002.

I would like to see Belgium go far.

I'm shocked at some of these responses because I always grew up thinking the biggest tournament you could win was the World Cup.

Club trophies are won and lost every single year. Hardly anyone remembers who won a specific league or cup 10-15 years ago, yet France in 98 and Brazil in 02 are still clear in my memory.

While losing to Barca in those two CL finals recently hurt, I still found myself getting over them much easier than the losses to Portugal or Germany, albeit there was controversy in both. The way people still talk about 66, I couldn't even imagine the joy of seeing England win one nowadays
