Agree, love ODIS too.. Especially World Cup and tournement events.
The champions trophy was fantastic though I must say although England's position at the end of that final was absolutely hilarious. How they choked from that position is beyond me. That is what I mean about Dhoni - in limited overs every decision he seems to make turns into gold but at Test level he just gets frustrated and resorts to defensive and negative tactics. We've won countless games where Dhoni has come in and smashed the boundaries and judged the end perfectly. You cannot do that in Tests as it requires both technique and seamers who pick up 20 wickets. None of which are required in ODI's or T20's.
India are used to such magnitudes of defeats in other sports. Im afraid we get used to such thrashing in cricket as well. The country has never had any infrastructure of budding talents and its no different in cricket as well which is a big shame as India have so much money in cricket and they should really be bossing in this sport. unfortunately BCCI only care about money so that will carry on doing what they do.
All will be forgetton once WI come back in october and we win against them. And then back to champions league and all will be fine.
The only time a change will come IMO is when we get thrashed in the WC. BCCI has put a closed eye on this team, but if we cant beat NZ in a single ODI, how on earth will we beat the likes of Aus, Eng, Pak, and SA?
I love the one day tournaments, the champions trophy and World Cup of course, I'm not just not interested in all these random one day series. For example later this year we travel to Sri Lanka for a five match series.
The World Cup is coming early next year so I suppose it has slightly more importance this time round but still.
I think Eng lost 3-2 in the last ODI series.

This. ODI's aren't the best but these ridiculous series' India play just bore me and are of no use to bowlers of which ours are utterly inept and useless.
I agree the ODI series aren't that important, but I do think they're good fun.
Also, it's a good way of getting young players into international cricket. Buttler and Jordan are good examples of players making their name in ODI's then getting a test match chance.

Most of them are played on concrete road surfaces in the sub continent where the par score is 350. I suppose at least over here we try provide green pitches for Odi'swhich offer more of a contest between bat and ball
Ravi Shastri is making some good points on sky at the moment. India's defensive selection in Southampton changed the momentum.

Myself, every other Indian fan and their dog could see Ashwin had to start against all England's left handers and Dhoni should move up to 6. Instead Dhoni bottled it as usual and in the space of 10 days and 2 test matches the pendulum has swung. Quite remarkable is this game. Instead we lost the toss and were on the field for close to two days at Southampton with all our batsmen then mentally fatigued and playing some ridiculous shots in the first innings capitulation.
That's another good point, we only bowled about 80 overs in this test, spread out over three days. Bowlers should be fit and fresh for the next test.

Not sure if your watching sky sports, but Shastri also gave his support to Dhoni.. Said he led the way batting and said he's not a selector so you can't blame him for Ashwin being left out... I agree with him. Personally, I'm
Astounding at the abuse and unfounded accusations levelled at Dhobi everytime India mess up!
Dhoni does get a tough time tbf
Out of interest who would Indian fans become captain if Dhoni left?
I'm sorry but how anyone cannot level blame at Dhoni is beyond me. Shastri, Dravid, Ganguly and Gavaskar will all refuse to criticise Dhoni because of their close links with the BCCI. No organisation wants their poster boy or captain under pressure. Did you hear Downton come out and call for Cook's head after Lords? No because it's natural to back your captain. Listen I absolutely love MS Dhoni - the guy has revolutionised limited overs cricket in India and is one of the most humble and genuine captains we have ever had but in Test cricket I am sad to say he is the complete opposite.
Results do not lie. We have been utterly destroyed away from home for many years now. They say a captain is only as good as his team but Dhoni has been useless both with and without the legends at the helm of Indian cricket. The team and coaching staff has changed but results are the same and guess what the common denominator is - Dhoni. We need someone more aggressive who can stick it and tell these batsmen to grow some balls and bowlers to run in every ball with their heart on their sleeve because at the moment they aren't doing so.
Unfortunately that is the problem. There is no suitable candidate at the moment. Naturally it is Kohli as he is an aggressive player and is in the Ganguly mould. I wouldn't let his poor form this series cloud judgement but he is definitely the kind of personality India need in Test cricket. However from what I have seen he gets far too annoyed too quickly in IPL cricket so there is still a bit of work to be done there.
In limited overs there is no better captain in world cricket than Dhoni and I genuinely believe that but in Tests he has to go.
Yes at this point in time we dont have any captain. We had gambhir after the 4-0 in England but he lost it completely with his batting, so he was no where to be seen afterwards, and people said kohli could make a good captain, but after this series I doubt India will even think about that.
Dhoni does deserve all the criticism. Im not sure I really know what the coaches do in this team, or if they have a role at all. I think Dhoni has lots of powers in the team. the final decision on the team is generally dhonis. Duncan flecher, I dont think has much say. he is not even allowed to speak to the media. That says alot about where he sits.
I think an Indian coach is needed as he will get more powers in the team. Someone like a dravid or even a ganguly. atleast as a batting consultant if not a coach.
interview of flecher in Bcci website, http://www.bcci.tv/news/2014/features-and-interviews/8377/dhoni-is-honest-and-principled-fletcher
says not easy to change dhonis decisions once he has made his mind. Reason why ashwin wasnt in the team and jadeja is.
I think the criticism Dhoni is receiving is harsh. The team is letting him down. I also don't understand why India keep making bowling changes in every test so far. Okay I understand Sharma is injured but Shami is a decent bowler and should have played this test. The media also keep on saying how Jadeja is poor but last year in the Champions Trophy he was on fire. I'm not sure what his overall test career is like though.
I'm just wondering where all those people who were calling for Cook's head are saying now? clearly I was right in saying that they should wait until the end of the series to see whether he should stay on as captain.

So much wrong with this statement I'm afraid. The team has been letting Dhoni down for the best part of half a decade then. Also Shami has been very wayward with his line and lengths all summer. He looks very unlikely to get a wicket at any stage and doesn't look like a test bowler. Bhuvi has been absolutely run into the ground by Dhoni as he continuously bowls 13 over spells in a session and his speed is down at mid 70's - even with swing not very threatening.
Also the champions trophy final is not really comparable - Jadeja played brilliantly that day but with the bat in a counter attacking innings and on a turning pitch reduced to a 20 over a side game which could have been imported from Nagpur let alone an English wicket.
This Indian team is young and rebuilding itself. So, some of their struggles in England are understandable. But, their abject surrender is shocking.
Dhoni's reckless shot sums up their attitude. With a storm coming up the next day, their goal should have have been to play out the day at least.
Gambir is a shadow of the player he was. There is so much self-doubt. Dhawan and Jadeja aren't test class, at least outside India. Kohli needs to sort out a flaw in his technique and I reckon he will. Vijay, Puyara, and Rahana seem to know what to do, but luck and lapses in concentration have failed them.
Dhoni the captain appears to go through the motions without being proactive. There is a shelf life for every captain; his expired a few years ago.
