It's official - Pakistan have a 4th rate bowling attack now, with the news that mohammad Irfan has been ruled out due to injury. They are dropping like flies! Replacement to be announced soon.
4th rate? It's gone down to 5th rate now
That's a massive blow for us. The only bowlers Aussies would have feared and he's out.
Pcb knew this was a possibility, why not get a replacement ready? They should play Yasir instead of edil.
Umpire communications to be aired during Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final... What's all that about??
I thought Ajmal was now ok to play.
Would have been a perfect replacement to bring in, and really give Aus something to think about.
Mohammad Amir can't play yet, can he?
It will be interesting to see if SA can win a knockout match.in an ICC Event:
Champions Trophy 1998 - Won the knockout tournament
Champions Trophy 2000 - Won the QF but lost in the SF to India
Champions Trophy 2002 - Lost to India in the SF
Champions Trophy 2004 - Lost in the Group Stage
Champions Trophy 2006 - Lost to WI in the SF
Champions Trophy 2009 - Lost in the Group Stage
Champions Trophy 2013 - Lost in the SF vs England
SA in T20 World Cup
2007 – Group Stages loss
2009 – Lost in the SF to Pakistan
2010 – Lost in Group Stages
2012 – Lost in Group Stages
2014 – Lost in SF to India
SA in 50 over World Cup
1992 - Lost in SF to England
1996 - Lost in QF to WI
1999 - Drew in SF vs Aus but not knocked out as lost in Super Six
2003 - Lost in Group stages
2007 - Lost in SF to Aus
2011 - Lost in QF to NZ
Champions Trophy knockout matches: Won 4, Lost 4
T20 Knockout Matches: Won 0, Lost 2
World Cup Won 0, Drawn 1 (knocked out), Lost 4
No wins in T20 or World Cup knockout matches and 0 knockout wins overall since the year 2000. Very poor record.
Can they now finally win a knockout match?
I always feel that teams that talk too much before the match lack confidence in their own abilities. SA have just done that, and they always do that.
AB has been talking alot of things like their team is the best and they are not going to choke this time and etc.
I feel SL will win tomorrow. They have been in this situation so many times and have always done pretty well. On the other hand SA have generall failed when pressure is up.
Will be a good contest but I think SL have an edge.
Pakistan didnt have a horrible schedule before this WC, how on earth have they had so many injuries? I would think teams like NZ, Aus and India should be the ones struggling with injuries with the amount of cricket they have played in the lead up to the world cup.
Viru,
I think only irfan has picked up an injury during world cup, the rest were injured before that. Pakistan had a busy period leading upto the WC playing Aussies and NZ in uae ....
Will irfan get a world cup winning medal?
Terrible end to the innings.
Goodbye Sri Lanka
They've bottled it.... The ICC have announced that South Africa's choke has been rescheduled to occur in the semi
Another 1992 omen with SA making it to semis
It's a, 5th rate team though.... Until Pak are wining.
It's called making excuses for a loss before you play. Basically, yellow belly fans.
Kash - You have been one of the few fans getting behind Pakistan and supporting them.
SA - now that hoodoo has been banished, they must up up there alongside Australia and New Zealand as favorites.
Lefty,
You have been on this site for many years and know full well the injuries/ suspensions Pakistan have had over the years. Not sure how you can justify calling a third rate team a third rate team as an excuse. It is what it is. Our best players (ESP bowlers) are currently sat in Pakistan, not Austraila. Nothing will change that reality and that being considered, the current bunch have exceeded expectations
Well done to SA for winning their first knockout match at the World Cup
Sad to see Sangakarra and Jayawardena's final match end so poorly for them, but happy that they got to win the T20 World Cup last year after losing so many finals.
Sangga froze today. Was on 15 from 51 at one stage, very unlike him to get stuck at the crease. Also, 7 wickets to South african spinners- what a joke that is.
