Looking at India's 1983 world winning side it contains Kris Srikkanth who averages below 30.

Were the batsman the top scorers in the final and the bowlers the top wickets takers in the final?

Wow, didn't think you'd get it so quick Kash.

Yes, they wither made the most runs or took the most wickets in the final of the World Cup and each Cup should have been represented

1975 - Gilmour
1979 - Garner
1983 - Srikanth
1987 - Boon
1992 - Imran
1996 - Aravinda
1999- Warne
2003 - Ponting
2007 - Gilchrist
2011 - Khan (alright, he was joint winner as he took 2 wickets and so did a few others)

How did SriKunt manage to play as many matches with such a poor record?

posted on 23/3/15

That was a fluke guess. My WC memory only starts from 1992.

Srikkanth was a very entertaining batsman in an era where many batsman would be happy to bat all day, he was one that really took it to the opposition. I think he should've played more.

Does I Sharma hold any records?

posted on 23/3/15

There was some member in the crowd in SA that took the record for most catches in the World Cup Final in 2003.

Among pace bowlers (not all-rounders) who have played at least 50 test matches, there is only one bowler who has a worse bowling average (37.87) than I Sharma (37.3). Who is that?

First I was thinking Mohammed Sami but the answer is Fidel Edwards.

By the way, test bowling averages of Boucher and Kirmani are 6 and 13, respectively!! Dhoni bowled more balls though.

Sami did not play as many matches as I Sharma, but when I set the qualification to at least 1000 overs, Sami distanced himself from the next by a wide margin.
