Giroud's not a world-class player by any means, but when he has runners in-and-around him, he usually does well.
He was excellent at the start of the season when he had the movement of Walcott in-behind and the runs from deep of Ramsey, but when injuries mounted up, the lack of pace in our frontline really began to stifle the likes of Ozil, Giroud, and the team in general.
In an ideal world, we'd bring in a top-class striker, RB, DM, wing-forward, and a good young CB. Unfortunately, it seems we might have to compromise a little bit, and if that's the case, I don't mind us persevering with Giroud, providing he has runners like Walcott, Chamberlain, and Sanchez around him.
And whilst I wouldn't want us to be relying too heavily on Campbell in his first season in the Premiership, he certainly looks like a useful option to have to try and stretch teams - which was one of our main problem last season, IMO.
CBs don't like playing against him because he is a nuisance and is physically imposing but he is lacking so many attributes of a top striker that at his age you just know he will never develop into top quality. I mean he is 22 years old and people are still calling him 'raw', if you said that about a 16 year old you would still be skeptical if they had what it took.
So we've gone from everyone saying that 'Wenger's gonna get that big striker' to 'We don't need them it's gonna be okay what we have is fine'.
Amazing. Carbon copy of last summer
Chelsea have signed Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, us signing Sanchez and 'Signing' Campbell' means they're ahead of us.
------
simple way of thinking, bet you thought Spurs would be ahead of us last season Costa is garbage.
Penguin
Not to mention the "we definitely need a quality DM" we have had for about 8 seasons now
Sanogo was 20 years old in his first season and only played a handful of games. seriously don't get why nobody rates him, he was having good impact on games and afterward everyone would say he played sh !t.

To be fair, I, and plenty of others I'm sure, have always maintained that Giroud is a good striker with runners around him, and to be honest, I've always considered the CF position behind that of DM, RB, and wing-forward in our list of priorities.
Our forward line needed sorting and the lack of pace has needed rectifying, but if we get Sanchez in and bring Campbell back, we have ample options to use to stretch teams.
I think it's just because of exactly how he's played, 8bit.
He had a really positive impact, imo, and I honestly don't think we would have won the FA Cup without him, but his ability on the ball just looks so lacking.
To me, he is a superb athlete but at times looks like he's never kicked a football in his life.

He's a quality athlete. Probably the strongest player at the club, and pretty quick too.
Strongest player at the club? Lolz Plus he ain't that quick.
Anyway being a good athlete requires a bit more than just speed and power. Coordination, balance, a bit of explosiveness, etc.
Not that simple.
Who is stronger?
For his size, he's quick. Can't think of many 6ft3 players quicker?
People's views on Sanogo are just distorted by the fact he is far more mobile and strong than Giroud. Giroud was in brutal form when Sanogo came into the team against Liverpool and even I was excited about it but since then reality has sunk in that he really just isn't that good.

"People's views on Sanogo are just distorted by the fact he is far more mobile and strong than Giroud."
Probably true, too. I remember when he ran in behind vs Liverpool, was so shocked, forgot strikers were allowed to do that.
He's got a lot of raw ability and potential he just needs proper coaching, hopefully he can push on next season. Once he gets his first goal it should help him a lot.
"Raw ability." What a joker. I think I'll be able to tolerate your joking ways more if we manage to sign Sanchez.
This is what I am talking about, he is 22 years old, you can't use the 'raw ability' tag, he should already be showing us his qualities. I've asked 100 times what raw ability he actually has and I swear I have never got an answer. We all know he is strong, mobile and relatively quick, and that he will work hard but none of those are traits of a footballer, they are traits of an athlete. Sometimes I watch him and he makes Gervinho look like Redondo.
He never ever looks like a threat. This lad won't score for a few years.
He plays the centre forward position well and he has more of a strikers instinct than Giroud. He's tall, strong, can hold up the ball, decent shot. it sounds silly because he didn't score but he came close a few times, you could tell he was desperate to get his first goal. He was playing in Ligue 2 before, it's big step up so it's normal he'll take time to adapt.
Sanogo has no talent whatsoever mate. Embarrassing seeing you trying to make him out to be a promising young talent. The guy's not a kid.
plus Sanogo has a better career goals to game record than Diego Costa

Serge is nowhere near ready to be considered a first team squad regular.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither is Campbell.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolute BS. The man has two years, successful years, in top flight football, CL and WC experience and you think he is not ready to be part of the squad.
Absolutely awful from Bats... as normal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never said that. I said he is not ready to be a first team regular. Can you not read your own comments?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As CEG pointed out... There is a big difference between a first team regular and a first team SQUAD regular.
Nobody is suggesting JC should be starting 38 PL games and 10 CL ties. But over a season we need a bit of depth. Unless we do something no other club in the world can, and have 25 world class players, then JC is more than good enough to be part of our squad.
The only reasons I could understand selling JC are if it is part of a deal to get in someone top class (as was being thrown about with Balotelli), or if we broke with tradition and filled the squad 25 man quota.
We don't need the £10-£12m being thrown about as a price tag for him, and I would much rather see him get the chance to fight for a place. Even if in a year Mr Wenger decides he hasn't done enough and sells him for a lot less.
As for Sanogo, what happened to him was a bit unfair on him. He spent the first half of the season injured, then got thrown in at the deep end in some of our biggest games. He offered something different to Giroud, in that he hustled and bullied defenders. Against Bayern in the first 20 he showed enough quality to suggest he has something about him to go with that. As an U-21 he is exempt from squad quota rules, so no issue there. Think he should be given pre-season to determine if he stays or goes on loan. Definitely could do with that bit of experience.

These clowns will eat their words in a couple of seasons time. Even next season if he doesn't have any more injuries. He was chucked in at the deep end straight away and did quite well considering he nearly became a postman the year before.
Campbell shouldnt be loaned out anymore. Time for him to show on the big stage what he can do. I am absolute convinced that he has a good career ahead of him.
