Still can't accept that Liverpool are a selling club with no power as they don't win anything?

Asking for the fee upfront is completely unrealistic. And Suarez is gone, we're not going to hold on to him for a few more million straight away.

Do you think we paid all of Lallana's fee straight up?

Is it?

Barca have sold Fabregas and will have sold Sanchez. All they need to do is ask for those monies up front.

Barca are also a bank, they'll have to offer a new savings fund to get some cash in. They'll manage it some way, it's not our job to make it easy for them.

But they're even saying part of the fee is to be made up of performance related bonuses. Which is unacceptable to us really.

If Suarez wants to go that much he can find part of the transfer if he wants.

"What are they smoking over there at the Emirates"?

No power? Stupid boy!

Itll be over 200 years knowing Barca ask Arsenal

"the fee is payable upfront"

No chance this will happen, no matter what.

posted on 8/7/14

Why are you so desperate to get the fee up front?

It makes little difference.

The vast majority of transfers are done by instalments. It's how football works.

As long as the club know they will be receiving the money in the future, they can start spending it the same way.

Getting it in the bank account today really has no relevance to anything.

yes but how can they say they have met the rrlase clsuse when they then alledgedly want to pay aome of ot performance related? i think payment over the year is more than enough. i will def not want it performance related as he could be banned again!

Oh but if does R1, it does. Game theory just think.. Barca are doing business with Arsenal. Arsenal are competing for league positions with us.

If we can influence Arsenal paying Barcelona full whack, they have less money to put as a "deposit" on other players in this transfer window.

Conversely we have more money to put as a "deposit" on players. It's all related.

Arsenal have already agreed a fee by all accounts.

Sorry, it's a non argument.

posted on 8/7/14

Why are people arguing with the op? He may just be right and its a case of barca going for a player they cant afford....be funny if suarez has to stay because they cant afford him

You can not say that Barca have met the release clause if they are trying to structure the payments on related performance. We aren't going to get more than the release clause if does superbly well so why should we get less if he doesn't?

Plus you only have to look at Ronaldo to Madrid, Utd demanded the money up front and got it.

These release clauses are very complex as we saw last season with the botched arsenal bid. To say Liverpool have no power is obviously wrong because it was reported that a fee had been agreed days ago but nothing's happened!

To be honest lads this deal will be a whole lot more complex then any of us can imagine.

I heard a good interview at the end of the season, before the world cup, with a Liverpool based agent and when he was explaining how deals are done it's insane the amount of stuff they haggle over.

Gilliam bállbàg has just been on SSN saying Liverpool will get the fee we want and the we want a payment of £40m upfront and that Barca are waiting for sales to go through!

posted on 8/7/14

If Barca are saying that they will take him and pay us over the next 5 years on a performance basis. Then why don't we tell them that they can take his left foot now and then over the next 5 years we'll just send them bits of him?

I doubt there is much room for Barca to mess us around. They are in enough trouble transfer wise as it is. Now is a good time to get rid of Suarez. He's let is down too many times.

posted on 8/7/14

How is if a non argument? They might have agreed a fee, like Barcelona have agreed to meet the release clause.

As long as the player hasn't been released for a medical it's all up in the air still pending a discussion.

I think Barca simply do not have that liquidity around, I'd rather have that money in the coffers now otherwise there is an opportunity cost that we will bear from not having it in the coffers.

I don't care if that's how transfers have been done previously, you need to change things up to gain an advantage.

So super club Barca don't have £40m even after selling Fabregas?

Chancers!

As ARE says there isn't much room for Barca to manoeuvre.

They are only signing players because their transfer ban is suspended pending an appeal. Might be their last transfer window for a year.

What s you think Chelsea paid up front for Fabregas?

Do you think you paid up front for all your purchases so far this summer and in the past?

Spreading the payments is a way of getting round the FFP rules, I don't see the problem. Barca spread the payments to you and you spread the payments for the players you buy and so on.

Why are you so adamant you need the £75m up front? it appears a more emotional response than a business one.

I've given up on Henry this time. It seems he doesn't want to play hardball and wants our best player gone as soon as physically possible. The bite must have really p ssed Henry off. I'm disappointed in him, it's clear the moment after the bite he was desperate to sell our best player.
------------------------------------
Are you for real?

Barca came to us and if Guillem Balague is to be beleived then they have met the release clause in his deal and the club has to listen. We had to deal, we are just trying to get the best deal for our club.

How anyone can blame anyone at the club and be disappointed is quite frankly stupid!

White Wall

Spread fees have no bearing on FFP as are recorded in the club accounts (outstanding liabilities) - Barca still owe Arsenal 14m for Song and Cesc!!
