Vc,
I'd have it closer personally. Rio has been a class act for you lot.
I do think Pallister was your all-round best defender of the Fergie era personally Stam aside.
That was some defence around the time you won the double though. Your best.

I think Steve Finnan deserves an honourable mention. He's very similar to Branaslav Ivanovic, in that he was solid in every aspect without being outstanding. Rarely put a foot wrong in a Liverpool or Fulham shirt.

Yeah it was a pity to see that team get broken up and go back down so quickly. I think they got relegated the very next season

top 3 underrated:
Parlour
Makelele
Keown
top 3 overrated:
Bergkamp
Scholes
Giggs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How on earth is Makelele underrated? People even now still call the defensive midfield slot 'the makelele position'. If anything, I think he was overrated.
I always loved watching Digger for us when he moved into a more central position under Evans especially.
I'm not for a minute saying Barnes was underrated but its sometimes forgot how seamlessly he slotted into that position. He could play with his slippers on at times. Lovely passing range & was always calm in possession, taught the younger lads a lot.
In that sense as a central midfielder rather than the flying winger his ability goes slightly under the radar.
From Utd I'd say Ronny Johnsen, didn't get the plaudits that Stam did but was a fantastic defender and only cost £1.2 million.
Other honorable mentions Irwin, Berg and Kanchelskis.
Irwin?
Generally regarded by Utd fans I imagine as one of Fergie's greatest ever signings.
Everyone acknowledged the guys class. Heck we saw it at Anfield once or twice.
First 11 of the 1992-2000 era for me:-
Tim Flowers
Paul Parker-Gary Pallister-Colin Hendrey-Rob Jones
Robbie Earle-Jamie Rednapp-Paul Ince-Steve Mac
Robbie Fowler-Ian Wright
What do Chelsea fans think about Alex? Without injuries I reckon he'd still be with us, and when he became a regular for us was an excellent defender.

he was the lynch pin of a side full of Galacticos at Real Madrid and was sorely missed after he left.
Then he was the lynch pin of the most dominant premiership side in history.
I'd say he is underrated despite having a position named after him. There are a fair few people who don't think the position is even needed.
I still think Juninho was one of the best players in the premiership, but he's never mentioned!
Also when they Ravenelli as well... what a striker her was. Shame it was at the end of his career.
I also think Hleb was underrated.
Finally, I would love to have seen how Anderton's career would have gone had he not been permanently injured.
Has anyone said Danny Murphy?

Juninho how could I forget him !!!!!!!
Also, there were some class players throughout the league back then, Noela Whealan and darren Huckerby for Coventry spring to mind and lets not forget Benito Carbone.
