Also french. Henderson provides that energy we are missing in terms of pressing opponents. When you watched Liverpool demolish the arsenal Tottenham and Everton he was normally the front runner who pinched the ball. Lucas used to be good but after his injury, he doesn't look as tenacious and was very very sloppy on the ball at times. In a 3 man midfield I'd say Henderson is better than cleverly. That is all

Several other factors that were responsible.

Sturridges 21 goals 7 assists
Gerrard 13 goals 13 assists
Sterling 9 goals 5 assists,

Last year we had a better win percentage without Suarez! Of course he is going to be a miss but I can remember a fair few of the bigger games were he didn't perform and we still managed to get a good result e.g. at old trafford.

RVP
Hazard-Mata-Schurrle
Matic-Fabregas
Luis-Terry-Cahill-Azpilicueta
Courtois

Since mata was able to play on the right for you guys well I'd then replace schurrle with Rooney perhaps? But fair Chelsea's midfield and defence embarrassingly trumps ours

I'm so happy you brought this up. Your better win percentage without him was in the first 6 games? When everyone is fresh but we all know the league gets tough around Christmas time and in the March-may period as arsenal know so that stat is quite irrelevant.
Secondly, sturridge and sterling were admittedly very good but as someone who always captained suarez on fantasy football so watched you guys like crazy, the majority of the time suarez contributed or directly created the goals for starring hence them calling it the SAS and likewise for sterling.
don't get me started on Gerrard. Lots of assists and like 2 goals from free kicks which suarez mostly won and penalties which suarez ALWAYS won

Our defence might not have been incredible last year but we are looking to improve here, whereas you've lost 3 of arguably your best defenders over the past 5 years, you've signed Luke Shaw and he'll probably take a couple of years to adjust to the club as he'sso young.

Last season Suarez won 3 penatlies, Sterling won 3 and Sturridge won 2, so yes Suarez CLEARLY won everyone of our penatlies!

And we aren't?

As it stands, man for man, I'd take our defence over yours all day.

But certainly not over the last 3 (except maybe Vidic)

How are Liverpool looking to improve their defence when all of Rodgers buys have been midfielders and strikers?

posted on 25/7/14

Didn't United concede much less than the scousers last year too? And that was with a donkey in charge.

Lucas hasn't been good in ages. He's woeful in Rodges' system and Henderson is the real star in that midfield.

This would be my combined 11

DDG
Rafael agger Evans shaw
Henderson herrera
Sterling Rooney Mata
Sturridge

Now before anyone thinks I think Sturridge is better than RvP, I don't but I don't think the Rooney and RvP partnership works but I think the Rooney and Sturridge one has potential.

Good points Arab.

We are much better placed to challenge than Laugherpool.

Sorry but listing Gerrard's goals doesn't mean much when majority are penalties. Also he will be used sparingly. You seem to have been picky and picked out one slightly incorrect point but ignored the other things I have said. That's poor debating skills.
I think sterling is your biggest hope in terms of continuing that attractive game style as he is the only one I see in your team that may consistently dribble people with pace and create things. Lallana will help but big miss in suarez. Can you at least man to man United and Liverpool are similar?

Good post robb. I considered putting sturridge in too but the fact that rvp essentially won us the league I think he has to have a place

Never seen Coutinho play I take it. Also he didn't just list Gerrard's goals, he also listed he assists. Gerrard is no longer a goal scoring midfielder, but his ability to create from set pieces and when playing deep was still a vital factor in our improved form in the league.
