What more people beleive blindly in is so-called religious book which are contradictory to other religious books.. And then conflict of ego, tendency to collect mass to believe in what one believe and fight ensues. Thats the problem.. Even such advanced society like west believe in some ghost and pray a disgusting middle eastern figure nailed in a cross.

Luke - How can you honestly say that someone's beliefs are irrelevant to an argument which focuses on beliefs!? I am not saying that someone of faith's opinion is invalid but it is certainly blinkered to that of someone free of religious influence

In my opinion religion was created to police society and install rules to keep our animal urges suppressed by installing the fear of damnation. It was created to allow the masses of simple minds something to rely on, an assurance that there was something out there, a creator that we should worship, obey and fear and to give us a purpose. Nowadays we have forces in power that control society allegedly with our best interests at heart. But those powers should not ever use religion to address the world. Unfortunately they do and will continue to do so.

Very well said thatman... Mans inability to move on with time and still sticking blindly to ancient war-mongering religions and mentality still hunts mankind.

Shiekh you and I seem to be from the same pod. But I guess the discussion on whether the existence or creation of higher beings and their influence on society is a topic for another day. Doesn't matter what religious beliefs you have they shouldn't involve the blatant massacring of innocent lives.

Righteousness, sense of entitlement, seeing others as second class and disaffection cause most problems in this world and those mostly stem from organised religion.

Yes , and I have been impressed to by such thinkers like you here.. Feel sorry for suffering palestinians. But what to do, until the root is thrown out, the branches keep shooting up. The same is happening all over the world. Yes, when we human who are not perfect and share the same sources , its natural for us to fight for resources, we are greedy, lusty by nature and human weakness cause fighting. War happens. But the fight that is happening in most of world are between people divided by which f...king books they beleive in.

Just for 1 day if people in this world forget what so-called religions they belong to, then I thinkk this conflict would be solved, they will realize how futile this all is.

If we really really wanted to, we could get rid of starvation and poverty all over the world.

We have all the necessary resources and technology, but the problem is money. An imaginary societal measurement of how 'successful' you are that has absolutely no physical worth and can be traded hypothetically until the whole economy collapses

Money enslaves people and cordons off resources from those who need them the most.

I hate money and central banks just as much as i hate organised religion and its negative effect on the world.

Yes, this world is not ideal. People no matter how free they think they are, they are still enslaved, imprisoned in mind. From the very childhood, even before experiencing the totality of the world, we are led to believe that good life=earn more money. From the very childhood, a mans mind is fed with pressure to earn money.. Most of all are imprisoned from 9 to 5 in an office which we dont like to work on.. We are mentally imprisoned from expectation of other, we are miserable because we compare with other. If a friend has a car and I dont, then its such a society that I am compelled to feel miserable. A friend has a beauty wife and one feels miserable coz he has got a fat one....
Man I feel is still in the process of evolution.

If we all became Buddhists the world would be a better place

I think the internet will turn out to be the saviour of humanity.
