The Interweb is such a remarkable resource. It enables people with no interest or knowledge of a subject to post nonsense about any subject without actually taking the time to study it.

Relying purely on Google and Wiki anyone can spend less than 5 seconds and suddenly declare that they are right and everyone else is wrong.

The beauty of Google is that you do not even have to know how to spell a drivers name in order to find out about him. Google corrects your spelling errors for you.

So when a forum member mentions Spa 2010 the people that know nothing about F1 can not only Google “Sebastian Vettel” without fear of misspelling his name but also find out where in the world Spa is. Having found out the minimum facts they can then dash over to Wiki.

Wiki is very useful because at the bottom of each racing driver’s personal web page is a matrix of results. So you scroll down to the left and find the year 2010. Then after successfully Googling Spa to find out what country it is in you then scan to the right of the 2010 row to find the initials BEL. Having successfully navigated so far you then look under the abbreviation BEL and discover that Sebastian Vettel was classified 15th.

Unfortunately, the matrix of information on Wiki does not explain how a driver considered by many, (well only one person really) as an “all time great”, stormed his way from 4th on the grid to a stunning one lap down in 15th courtesy of course of two brilliant and avoidable collisions.

In what position and how many points did he drop which is the point we have been debating.

Martial, why are you not taking your own advice?

posted on 31/7/14

No, your original claim was that Vettel "crashed out of many races taking others with him". I've shown that not to be the case. So are you going to either admit you were completely wrong to make that statement, or would you rather lie & destroy any credibility you have?

You are entitled to have your own beliefs, but you aren't entitled to your own facts.

Two avoidable collisions and finishing 15th does not sound "all time great to me".

Hobo are we also sayying Seb did not wreck Webbers. Race in Turkey and took himself out? Or did not ruin his race in silverstone by taking himself out?

posted on 1/8/14

WTCBU, that post about google and wiki is positively hilarious

posted on 1/8/14

So Hobo, shall we summarise; you accuse me of a lack of credibility whilst I have demonstrated on 3 occasions how Seb took himself out of winning a race and in 2 scuppered the chances for another and one scuppered his own chances.

Races in question;

Turkey - took himself out and cost his team mate a win
Spa - Crashed twice, taking Button out and finished out of the points
Silverstone - took himself out all by himself

Now we can agree that I may have exaggerated he took others out slightly but the fact still remains that if he had even finished 3rd in all those races, the title would have been decided before Abu Dhabi.

I have not even talked about unreliability. So can you see that 2010 was only a hard fought victory because of the crash kid making it hard for himself?

So, now that we can all see that I was not lying, what other outlandish lies were in my post that got you all hot and bothered?

posted on 1/8/14

You're changing your story yet again. You said "crashed out of many races taking others with him". That is not what happened. Either admit you were completely wrong to say that or continue to defend the indefensible, showing yourself to have absolutely no credibility on the matter.

posted on 1/8/14

But I was not completely wrong as evidenced above. You only named one incident which was either you deliberately lying or worse still having no clue as to what happened in 2010.

Which one is it? I am not changing my story, I simply said which I have admitted already that I was exaggerating about taking people out.

If that is all you've got, I'm afraid its not a lot to go on

posted on 1/8/14

But it is. It shows your intrinsic bias against Vettel, as you are deliberately using false language to describe his actions, then defend it when called out on it. You will never treat him fairly, so there is absolutely no point in debating with you about Vettel, as your initial standpoint is already wrong.

It appears to be an issue of dogmatic belief rather than one founded on rationality. As I said earlier, it's like debating with a hardcore conspiracy theorist.

posted on 1/8/14

You are waffling all over the place now. I slightly exaggerated him taking others out, that was it. Very slightly as he did take Webber and Button out and took himself out of 3 races.

You have not provided a response to the other things in my post are actually disputed anything but him 'taking others out' which we can see he did.

This is really no way to debate. Other posters have even given examples. Stop squirming and waffling over the place and tell me the lies I told.

posted on 1/8/14

Have you lost the ability to read? I've said it numerous times: "crashed out of many races taking others with him."

1. He didn't crash out of many races.
2. He didn't take others with him.

That you continue to defend such brazen lies just shows how biased against Vettel you are.

posted on 1/8/14

Now, now, my good fellow, I am not defending anything, I am saying I exaggerated which with artistic licence is permissible.

He crashed out of many races - fact
He crashed into people - fact

What exactly are you debating here?

What bias are you referring to? Are you suggesting he did not crash?

You seem to be the one with a bias not me. I'm just presenting facts.

posted on 1/8/14

I grow bored of this. You're inventing your own reality by claiming Vettel "crashed out of many races". He did no such thing. Either you know that to be the case, or you have deluded yourself in order to justify your position on Vettel.

Either way, it is not something that can actually be argued against, as you're just inventing your own version of what happened.
