Only cared about the tests and we r getting hammered.
Replay looked like an inside edge.
Boofs dressing room comedy will be fun tonight : 'What do you call an Aussie who says he can play spin? a Bloody Liar...
Seriously though, 3/4 of those eickets, the ball didn't turn much. I think the pitch is causing doubt in the mind of the batsmen
Is it just me or are Pakistan really starting to improve? It really looks like they're putting a good team together.
Jezzer,
In all honesty, Pakistsn have always been inconsistent in terms of ODIS. In the test format, like most teams, they have a solid home record, but mediocre away from home.... But considering there's no Ajmal, wahab, junaid, Rehman and irfan, this victory (IF) would be nothing short of sensational.. The newbies have done brilliantly
To be fair Australia are missing players too. However, had there been no injuries the only change would have been Watson for Marsh and Harris for O'Keefe. Doolan is living on borrowed time now and considering how poor his FC record is I think they might go for Hughes or Maxwell in the next test.
if there is anything that sums up the death of test cricket, then it has to be this - no team is currently able to adapt away from their comfort zone. How many one sided tests have we seen in the last 5 years. Only SA have really been able to play well both home and away(although they only play 2/3 tests) which in my opinion doesnt really give a true picture as 4 or 5 test match requires a completely different set of skills.
Duncan,
Agree that Watson would have played, not sure what Impact he would have had though.
Viru,
Death of cricket??? At start of the Test Pakistan front-line bowling attack had only 16 wickets between them, compared to Australia, who had 564.... Come on lad, give credit where it's due mate
Watson is a pretty decent player of spin, but perhaps not in tests. This pitch probably would have suited him, in the same way it was good for Warner.
He most likely would have had a bigger impact than Marsh.
afridi no im not taking credit away. i already said pak will win even without ajmal. Check my comments before the test started. Infact it was many of pak fans that thought pak cant win.
What im trying to say, is teams are just not able to compete anymore. India also with a completely new bowling attack and batting line up destroyed Aus at home. jadeja was leading wicket taker(i think or one). Im sure you agree that Jadeja is pretty average at best. Actually many regard him as a part timer.
My point is that how many one sided have tests been? Cant remember any test series not involving SA, that have been an even contest. Can you? Whitewashes/Thrashings have just been a formality these days.
ok in short which team is actually doing really well
Aus- Very good at home.Has a very poor record away from home. Did exceptionally well against SA. credit to MJ and maybe a short transition of Kallis.
Eng - Yes/No - Very good record at home except of one series. away record is very poor.
Pak - Good record at UAE. poor away
NZ - Good record at home. Bad away
India - Good record at home(though think they might lose a test series against SL at home). very poor away
SA - One bad series at home, other wise very strong record both home and away. they only play max 3 tests so maybe hard to compare them with teams like aus and eng. but still think they wud do really well regardless. Players like amla, AB and steyn can shine in ALL conditions. Dont think there are any other players who can currently do that with this consistency. Warner has done well so far and so hass sanga, but still these 3 are in different class altogether.
SL- have done well with the limited opportunities they have got.
Grandad proving there is life after Ajmal.
Shahzad has just dropped a sitter. Are Pakistan doing a Pakistan?
And now its Yasir shah turn to drop one...
This is reminding me of Sydney 2010
Huge wicket there. 30 overs to get 2 more plus new ball.
Okay now im getting nervous
Defo out nothing behind wicket
Great effort from the new spinners even if one of them is aged 47.
