Yeah kash, let's pretend thats not the case mate....

So aussies and friends thought pakistan only take eickets due to a "chucker"... Wonder what nonsense they'll come up with now??? Maybe ICC should ban younis for playing with a straight bat???

the good thing about players getting banned is you find new players.

happened last time where we found azhar shafiq and also recalled younis and misbah.

now we've found yasir shah

Next target for Younis Khan: become Pakistans all time leading scorer.

only 1000 runs behind

Let's hope we don't do what we did against SA last year when we won first test and then didn't turn up for 2nd.

Robin, YK would have been closing in on 10k runs now had PCB not retired him back in 2010. He missed 9 tests.

Yeah kash, we were skittled for a very low score in 2nd test vs Saffers. There's no doubt about the fact that the aussies will come back hard.

Next years matches at home will be interesting, we have england and india. With a potential bowling attack of;

Amir
Junaid
Wahab
Ajjy?
Yasir shah
Zulfi
Rehman

A14, Imran Khan looks decent. Defo room for improvement from him and will do better on seam tracks. As for Rahat, he is poor. Batsman have to make a mistake for him to get a wicket.

Kash,

I actually thought the opposite. Rahat bowled well in spells and was getting some reverse. I can see him doing well in bowling conditions. Fact is, we have a very very good bowling unit.

You wasn't saying this on day 2

I didn't really watch the seamers bowl much but I guess they get another chance next game.

Well played Pakistan.

Don't see Aus coming back from this.

If I was Lehmann I'd only play one spinner and replace Marsh with Maxwell as a backup. Our batsman milked your spinners but gave the pace bowlers respect.

Probably also replace Doolan with Hughes.

Pressure is on us too as we haven't beaten the Aussies in test for ages.

Pak played well. congrats. I think aus did fairly better than last time they toured india, so good to see that as well. Im sure they will come back strongly 2nd test.

The deffo need to play only 1 spinner cause if you dont have quality spinners then subcontinent teams will just milk around for runs.

india ranked 6th. hmm

Don't really care much about rankings now that this test championship has been given the boot. We supposedly can end up 3rd if we win 2-0.

posted on 27/10/14

Kash, we need to get as high as possible because lets face it, we have an away tour end of 2015 to aussies, then following year 4 tests in england. Rest assured, we'll back back to 5th place in no time

I think it's fair to say, with regard to the rankings, there isn't really a stand out team. I think South Africa and Australia are the strongest two, but there isn't much of gulf between them and the next four teams, which means with home advantage you'd have to make the home team favourites in most circumstances.

Personally, I look on this as a positive. Touring sides should struggle in foreign conditions, and watching how teams deal with that struggle makes for interesting test cricket.

sorry, five teams, I forgot about Sri Lanka

Agree jezzer.

Although, personally i think South africa are on their own at number 1, with the rest all equal depending on home advantage. The Aussies have a point to prove, they are over-reliant on Warner and Clarke. They have a toothless spin attack and meagre looking all-rounders

I agree with you, but I think Marsh will be kept, his father is the chairman of selectors ...

I would like to see Hilfy come back in but I think they will replace O'Keefe with Starc.

Not sure how much better Hughes will do than Doolan, but Doolan hasn't really impressed since his debut and he doesn't have the best FC record either.

That's true, Afridi, but South Africa are hardly blessed with good spin options either, but I take the point that South Africa are probably the strongest team.

For the next test, I think Australia would be making a mistake to play only one spinner, and a HUGE mistake to play Mitchell Starc, who I don't rate at all. They should drop Marsh and play Maxwell instead. I would suggest to drop Doolan, but Hughes doesn't exactly inspire confidence either, so I'd give Doolan another chance.

So to recap, If I were Lehmann, my team would be:

Rogers
Warner
Doolan
Clarke
Maxwell
Haddin
Johnson
O'Keefe
Siddle
Lyon

The real concern for the aussies is Clarke. He's been out of form for a very very long time and needs to step up.

Yasir shah apart, the other bowlers weren't getting a huge amount of turn. A few were spin here and there and that played on the batmens mind - resulting in wickets falling to the straighter ball. Reminds me of england in the uae a couple of years back. Fair to say that england and Aussies look utterly clueless playing against spin
