It's nothing to do with luck Arab, were more than capable of competing with oil clubs. If we don't get him due to money that's not luck, it's us trying to get him cheap.

Even though I feel a key signing in CM or at CB is more pressing a matter than a winger, I don't think we can understate the importance of this transfer going through.

It shows we can still attract the best, and easily afford them too, regardless of CL football. Big signal of intent being sent out, definitely positive for the image of the club globally.

So what if a club comes in a bids an extra 20million on top of the reported fee?
Would you claim United to be tight fisted then?

Not sure he's even worth the price United are currently offering.

Of course he is, arguably the best winger in the world. MOTM of the last CL final, the ultimate marquee signing! We'd finally have a world class winger since Ronaldo. I don't get how people are even mustering a sad face at this.

If Di Maria signs, other big names may feel more comfortable in coming.

Anyone else still see this falling through somehow?

Me PSG or City might be around the corner.

Does this guy solve Man U problems though?

Is this not like chasing Juan Mata was? no improvements?

You need RVP back and Rooney firing! That's all

We badly need pace in attack, and he can play CM.

It's 1.5 problems solved. Still need another CM

He's just an Argentine Victor Moses. City reject too apparently.

let it be none I am not a fan of di maria, watched real madrid every season religiously but not last year. He never wowed me but I have been told he was outstanding last season

LVG in one of his interview about is bayern team mentioned how he initially played 442 diamond to accomodate the players at his disposal. Then bought robben who catalysed the switch to 433, I feel di maria will have the same effect at utd.

He rejected City because there's only one big team in Maaaanchessteeer

Given the spending restrictions on other clubs in Europe with the FFP, then I think it's safe to say that it's difficult to see anyone else bidding for him.

Whilst Di Maria is not my most favourite player (don't know why, I guess you like some players and not others), he is top quality, and it will surely provide a boost to the squad as a whole.

Of course we need strengthening especially in CM, and it would have been ideal to get the transfers done a bit earlier, but LVG came to us relatively late and it is not always possible to get all transfers done before the start of the season.

Fans need to show a bit of patience - new players will need to gel and settle in, and the first couple of months, regardless of how 'easy' the games look, may be a bit of a struggle.

LVG seems keen on Strootman, and it would not surprise me if he waited for him til January and try to get through to then with what we have now, and that will mean utilising the squad as best as possible until then.

It looks like that will be 4 major signings over the summer, which isn't too bad at all, and I expect a few up and down performances over the coming weeks, but hopefully with signs of general improvement.

After last season we are all anxious to turn the corner, but it may not be into the new year that we see dramatic improvement - I expect us to come on strong in the second half of the season once LVG and the new players are more settled in, but there is cause for plenty of optimism meantime.

Spent over 150 million and this may be the only signing that makes sense. And actual player that is better than what we have.

Shaw and Herrera don't make sense?

Do Maria isn't worth £50 mil of that I have no doubt.

That said we need a good winger because ours are rubbish.

So in that sense were gonna have to go for it because he's the level we need.

Mata made sense.

A top class number ten who can give us 6 or 7 years at the top.

Rvp will give us another 12 to 24 months tops.

Long terms strategy.
