"Not sure he's even worth the price United are currently offering."
Ditto. Im interested who else you bring in before the end of the window, in isolation I'm not sure about this transfer.
Spent over 150 million and this may be the only signing that makes sense. And actual player that is better than what we have.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
People can get a bit obssessed about big money signings. Of course it's important to get in top quality players, but you need the right blend and mix, and that means also bringing in players who will fit into the manager's vision.
I think all 4 signings (assuming Di Maria comes) this summer will improve us, and there will always be some gems that turn out to be better than expected.

Based on money paid and actual need? Not much sense. Herrera at a push.

We haven't spent the limit yet due to money recouped with more expected. You are right we can't afford him though!

Money talk is just boring... do maria is not worth £50m any more than Shaw is worth £27m. But the is football now

30 million for shaw, 35 million for a #10 not needed by us or wanted by his club, 28 million for a mop, 16 million plus nani for 4 rojos, 50 million for a winger not wanted by his club. Herrera (good) also at 30 million. We need some1 new to deal with our transfers cos all I see is utd get bent over time and time again.
if we sign di maria we will have to switch to 433, meaning rooney will have to shunted wide.

I guess this is another down side of FFP, clubs will wants to recoup as much money as possible from sales as it will have a direct consequence on what clubs can spend.
In previous years real never seemed too bothered about how much they got from sales, now it has a major effect on their own spending.

We're funding Real to get Falcao with this.
If we have to pay so much for all our signings we might as well sack every member of the scouting team,

Don't be so sure. Mata and fellaini were touted by many here. They were big name signings and for all intent and purpose for me were terrible signings and really did not improve us.
I can assure you at least 2 of the 4 signings this year will be an absolute waste of money not because I know the future, but because past history says so for our club and tbh every other club in the world. Big money signing is the most overrated thing imo.
A good example is di Maria, the most creative player in Madrid last year leaving because they spent 80 million on a player they absolutely do not need.
75 million euros is like 60 million
If they are asking for £75m then that's just crazy. £5 should be the limit. We could nearly get Vidal and Benatia for £75m!!!
Mata a terrible signing
Amazing. I've heard it all now. The guy is world class and will be here far longer than RvP or Kagawa.
As for Di Marias price, who cares? We live in a world where Adidas are paying us insane amounts of money to put 3 stripes on our kit. I'd much rather we spend that sponsorship money on players than Glazer home improvements. Plus that Adidas money is dependent on us being in the CL and players like Di Maria make that happen.
Chill out people, it's really not our money.
I dont think they're talking in euros.
75 million euros is like 60 million
---------------------------
When u put it that way
it is still tooo expensive
di maria had some shocking games in the world cup and has some shockers for madrid too
he is not ronaldo/messi level but still a very good winger and miles better than we have.
however if we pay more than £50m for him we are mugs considering he wants to leave and no one else is in for him.
it will also mean further signings of de jong or blind will cost more too as their respective teams will know united have money to waste
theres a gaping hole in our midfield and defence that is far more important to fill
As for Di Marias price, who cares?

the same rubbish you were saying when we signed fellani and zaha.

.......
This.
With £75m we could sign Vidal and a very good centre back. Even £50m is an overspend on ADM but I think it will be a worthwhile investment in terms of showing other clubs and players we mean business.

What are you jabbering on about?
United are hardly bankrupt for buying those players. The difference is that we all know Di Maria is world class and the price we pay for him will be paid back to us by cl qualification.
For the people going on about Vidal, there is probably a very good reason we're not splashing huge money on him. His knee issues.
United probably don't want another potential Hargreaves situation.
What you all need to remember is that the medical staff at United know a million times more than us about a player like Vidal and if we don't go for him there's probably a very good reason.
