I mean this season. Is four cm's enough? Especially with question marks over Khedira's fitness.
Yeah I agree with that. I said similarly, though it was on a different article. I also think that teams not performing in Europe, or when they go out, shouldn't get points based off of the coefficient of the league that season - how did Hull have a ranking of 16 when they've never played in Europe?
The league rankings should stay, and be based off of performance in UEFA competition, but that's where it stops, for me.
Anyway, it's a different discussion now as UEFA are proposing the champions of the top 7 ranked champions being top seeds with the CL champs.
"How do reach the conclusion of which
leagues are strongest? I would imagine the most accurate way would be to see how each of those leagues' clubs perform over a certain period. Seeing as you can only assess that in competitions where they face each other, you are arguing that there should indeed be some kind of ranking, but one which prioritises the club's country of origin, rather than the club itself."
Man that is just an epic comment! Doubt you got any replies to it!

The league rankings based on what exactly Darren?
That was only the first half. The second half was about how the ranking system could be adjusted:
As regards how it should be done, I'd perhaps lean towards melton's suggestion of taking a shorter interval. Another thing that could be considered could be not to award points outright on the basis of how many games you've W/D/L, but to weigh in the relative strength (via rankings) of the actual opponents you've faced.
If my memory serves, it used to work like that years ago in tennis - players could get bonus points, for example, for beating or perhaps even taking a set off higher-ranked opponents. I'm not sure why they scrapped it, but perhaps a similar kind of bonus system would mean results were less skewed towards the stronger teams that are almost by default handed easier draws.
---
Melton agreed with that idea, and so did the author of the article (I think we were actually talking about different articles on the same issue).

I think he means to rank each league on how its club's do in Europe.
Is there a likeable team in La Liga btw?
On the coefficient of the teams competing in Europe.
It's why, as ioag pointed out, it's necessary for UEFA to formulate a league ranking system based on performance over a prolonged period in European competition as to come up with a fair way of allocation for the CL.
Three years would probably suffice, five years is too long, look at our ranking and how it's propped up by our CL final in 2011.

I thought you were Kenty.
Athletico used to be likeable before Simeone was put in charge.
Atletico and Deportivo were Franco's teams
So it is right to rank leagues but it is an outrage when it's done the same for teams?
Wump, well that's the thing. The people that are outraged at the seeding system often ignore how it impacts on the league coefficient and why it's necessary to have the coefficient for the teams based off European performance.
Fück seeding, let Spurs automatically qualify
Why you signing another decent but unspectacular dm?
I didnt even know this guy existed until 5 mins ago
Another dm?! How many have you got now?
He's no sanson. Should've bought him, he's the new cabaye.
Bielsa's marseille don't look very good.
