Has to be a challenge for at least top 4. Any lower simply isn't good enough
Top 4 this season... next year the World?
To be honest with the amount we've spent we should be challenging for the title. I don't think we will though.
Nothing has changed with this signing in all honesty.
Our squad is even more unbalanced then it was previously. Until we get at least one more combative central midfielder, I'm expecting to struggle.
We have Falcao and Di Maria. Win the next 35 league games.
OP
Nothing will really change unless we sort the CM out.
Still a few hours to go for that.
The next issue will be getting all the new players to gel. It will be daft to think they will hit the ground running.
Top four will still be a target, but I want to see us playing decent football again.
Alot depends on how the more overlooked signings do. Rojo, Shaw, Herrera and Blind. Also how the likes of Jones and Smalling step up.
I think we have a first 11, even squad, that could essentially challenge for the league... But alot of things would have to click very quickly for that to happen.
4th place battle would be the absolute lowest expectation though

Exactly.
It sounds like a lot of you would have preferred a CM than a striker, but like someone said earlier, for the amount of money you have paid for all these players top 4 should be a minimum this year.
Difficult for us to win the league this season. For me there is too much disruption in terms of new manager, tactics and players. Top 4 definitely. Next season however, we should be right in the mix.
Surprised Arsenal weren't in for him. Supposed £6m fee shouldn't be a problem. Wages perhaps? Although Monaco are subsidising them.
Now that you have Falcao in your side, who is a top signing in my opinion,
________________________________________
He is only a top signing if we get the ball to him in good areas. RVP is equally good if you do this, which we don't.
The one good thing about Falcao is if we keep hoofing the ball he will win more headers.
If we bring in Blind, I think we could challenge for the title, but top 4 is a must.

I don't know why we didn't go all out for him,a bit gutted about that, but this is way football goes sometimes.
Expectations are too high for some of you, basically due to not understanding how football works.
There is too much going on to expect anything other than a challenge for top four.
If you lot came 7th again this season, after spending all this money, would you want LVG out at the end of the season?

If everything was equal, and he was judged like Moyes, then yes. But no, I don't think he would be out of the door, nor would I want him to be.
its going to take a while for this new team to gell with soooo many new additions especially in an unfamiliar system.
Think the most we should expect is top 4 this time.. but it all bodes well for the next season and beyond for LVG

I think we will make the top 4
Our squad is even more unbalanced then it was previously

If we bring in Falcao and Welbeck and Hernandez leave, how is our squad more imbalanced towards attacking players as a result? Especially if it is true that RVP will be out following a knee operation.
Also it's hard to judge the need for reinforcements in midfield and defence when we haven't seen Rojo, Shaw or Blind yet and barely any of Herrera. And we don't know where ADM will be deployed. And players are still learning new tactics.
