Women's MMA is pretty good to watch. Not many knockouts, but some of the combos are pretty rapid.
That's the question that needs to be asked Shinji:
Would the women players get in the men's teams?
Answer: No, because they aren't good enough.
IMO prize money is merely a reflection on the popularity of the sport.
As the majority of prize money is provided by sponsors/commercial partners, promoters are not going to make available money that is disproportionate of audience.
Can't be bothered to read all the replies but this is my take.
The prize money should be aligned to the money coming into the event from Sponsors and gate receipts etc.
For example if the women's PGA rake in more for a woman's event than a mans event then the prize money should follow suit.

And then there would be a whole issue of having no women in the men's top leagues which would cause some BS issue like the Rooney rule thing with the black managers.

I would be willing to bet my house that this is how it's decided.

Exactly. I don't cry about the prizes available in Miss World.
Are we going to start campaigning for Mr World, and have a cry about the lack of prize money.

PC this, unfair that, inequality the other...
Of course, there are genuine claims but this is quite frankly ridiculous.

It all comes down to supply and demand.
I think it's fair to say that men are the target audience because they tend to watch more sport than women. and in the main (but not exclusively), men prefer to watch sport involving men rather than woman, because men in general are better at sport than women.
If more Woman were actually interested in watching sport
then maybe there would be more prize money for them.
So are'nt women themselves to blame for this?
men prefer to watch sport involving men rather than woman
..............
Apart from Beach Volleyball of course.

Good point
Women in work - Equal pay, for sure in fact I have preferred working for women more than men
Women in sport - not able to compete physically with men, quality is vastly lower therefore this should reflect in prize money- its not sexism its fact, I doubt any womens player would get into a Ryman League team either, its dangerous as they are physically not up to it
and Christ they are all so slow
When I was in Brazil our under 18 semi pro team played the under 18 female national team and we won 13-1. That's why women should and will never be paid the same as men.
If they put in the same shift as men then I wouldn't mind them getting paid as much. I know the male sports draw in the crowds, but it's not really fair on women that they just so happen to be weaker than men in terms of physical capability, and therefore will probably never be able to draw the same crowds as men in their sports.
If the number one male tennis player - I assume it's Djokevic or Nadal - played in a 5 set match against the number one female tennis player - I assume it's some bulgarian bird or one of the Williams brothers - then the number one male player will win 6-0 6-0 6-0. Every time.
Why oh why are they paid the same.
It's just political correctness gone mad.
I saw a professional females football match before, my gosh my universities 5th team were of a higher standard than these female professional footballers. I can't believe how they were struggling to accurately hit passes, and the speed of their turns were ridiculously slow when compared the professional male footballers.
However ultimately it comes down to if the sport is commercially viable to put investment into it, not the quality of the sportsman\woman. And the womens game is definitely not there yet, and won't be anytime soon. It was easy to pour hundreds of millions into football back in 92 because there was huge potential there, however I honestly can not see the same potential in the womens game. The pay gap will not, and should not, reduce.
Spittle but there is inequality in jobs in favour of women too. Like stripping.
