Stop supporting Israel.
-
Why?
They are our ally.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't particularly care about allies but will support what I think is just.
Israel has a reactionary right-wing government that uses excessive force regularly and keeps building more settlements etc
I don't agree with the politics of that government but understand it's right to protect itself when all around it has neighbours intent on the destruction of Israel, some of whig harbour terrorist organisations that will readily send thousands of rockets and suicide bombs over into Israel.
The people of Palestine are the ones that suffer, poor innocents when these terrorist organisations are ensconced in amongst the population. The people are controlled by them.
Arrafat had offers of peace in the past that he turned down. It's complicated but one day hopefully a Palestinian state will co-exist alongside Israel peacefully.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good post. I'd have more symapthy for the Palestinian people if they didn't support Hamas though. Great way to garner peace with Israel that is...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The problem is the Palestinian people have nothing. One of the poorest places on the planet. They don't really get much of a say and are controlled by these organisations like Hamas.
The only way to peace there is dialogue which has been tried time and time again but must not be given up.
Concessions will be needed and Jerusalem is always one of the big stumbling blocks. It's a depressing situation really.

Anyway this argument could go on for ever and not gonna change my mind because I'm right and the right wing, ignorant, bigot, government puppet faking morons aren't gonna change their mind cause they're faking stupid.
Start spreading wealth equally, reduce the huge disparity between the poor nations and the wealthy, stop bombing people for political gain and maybe the terrorism will reduce. Now there's a thought.
Goodnight dumb cants. I'm off.

Then how do you explain others on here calling Ghandi a terrorist earlier? He preached love. It's all about perspective.
It's always amazing to read some of the ignorant things said by the right wing people on here.
Innocent people are dying in the hundreds of thousands in the middle east. If they can't see it breeds resentment of the West then they're either idiots or being wilfully ignorant.
It doesn't excuse someone blowing up a bus full of innocent people as I believe the suicide bombers to be misguided, idiotic people but it does make me wonder how the hell is this going to stop from both sides?
I guess the only way for the killing to stop is for the US and the UK to stay out of the middle east. Let local governments deal with local issues.

Further more Hamas only control Gaza, whats the excuse for the West Bank.
And whats the excuse for what happened before Hamas were even elected.
The fact of the matter is that region was secure and peaceful for hundreds of years with Jews, Christians and Muslims living together until the establishment of Israel.
Yet people still blame the people expelled from that land.

VC,
What policy?
------------------
The various decades old policies that the National Security Council spoke about in their memorandum.
I'm not going to go into a complete history of UK/US foreign policy. But to stick to a couple of the recurring horrors we routinely inflict upon the world (not just the middle east here by any means):
- The overthrow of democratic regimes and instalment and support for brutal regimes (See Iran 1953, Chile 1973, Indonesia 1965... Support for Saddam, Saudi Arabia, Egypt.... The list is literally too endless)
- Support for Israel's ethnic cleansing, occupation and settlement expansion of the remnants of Palestine (invaders and occupiers have no rights to self-defence. The occupied population, however, do.)
- The invasions and bombings/droning of various countries
- 'Genocidal' sanctions (see Iraq). I'm quoting Denis Haliday, Chief UN Humanitarian Co-ordinator in Iraq at the time. 500,000 children under the age of 5 died as a reult of US/UK led sanctions.
These policies - which a just a few - are, as all the best evidence demonstrates (including declassified internal records where high official quite openly talk about this) are geo-strategically and economically motivated.
So 'what policy'? Well, take your pick.
"I guess the only way for the killing to stop is for the US and the UK to stay out of the middle east. Let local governments deal with local issues."
That won't stop the killing, it would make it worse in some places.
I don't get the religion argument either, how a group of football fans can sit here and say how peaceful things would be without it is madness, we of all people should be able to appreciate the fact human beings just love a good scrap.
As for race playing its part, I don't agree either, at the end of the day whether black, white, asian, or green, it's all pink on the inside, I am of course talking about pussay, something that if those in charge were getting enough of they wouldn't be kicking off with each other so much - Cherie Blair, you reckon she dropped her knickers other than to take a dump? Absolutely not, I can understand why Tony was pi55ed off all the time and decided to turn his attentions to playing a real life version of Risk.
