One second is one second to long
i would like to defend Keef, but i cant. To play a weakened team, when the first 11 is weak enough, in a cup game which is a local derby (sort of) is tactically naive. If Skuse was related, there would be cries of nepotism. Its a shambles.
Derek McInnes would be an ideal replacement
Skuse will be the end of Millen
I'm sorry but Millen will be the end of Bristol City in the Championship..
Ok, now to brace myself for the predictable mickey-takes here in Swindon
Good job I took this week off work.
Still, it was slightly better than I predicted - I thought we would lose 2-0...
Where were you after the leicester game, the longer Millens in charge the better because I love the fact it winds you up. West Ham had a worse night than us, we never have and never will beat a lower league team in cup or pre-season, we've always been the same.
Just got back having watched a side struggling in the basement division out-pass us and out class us from start to finish.
Please Keef don't waste our time with excuses or promises of better because on the team you picked tonight you deserved to lose.
In particular what I think may be one of the worst and most inept midfields that I have witnessed, and we all know we have had some bad ones.
Our defence despite Wilsons magnificent effort was split wide open time and again early on because the midfield had gone missing. They never returned.
JCR ran in ever decreasing circles when he got the ball giving the opposition time to set up for any remote possibility of forward movement.
Kilkenny did a great impersonation of a poor mans Lee Johnson, can't tackle, can't head the ball, can't shoot and can't pass except square or backwards.
Cole Skuse, Captain led by example just like the guy that led the charge of the light brigade. Absolutely clueless.
Woolford ! A man that looks like he would find it hard to stand out in a Downs league match. Does he know that a winger should be able to take a man on or cross a ball or provide a bit of cover for his full-back or even move into space and give an option for a pass. This man should be done under the trades descriptions act for calling himself a footballer.
Just a thought for anyone that is living under the misconception that Pitman, Stead and Taylor will be enough for us if and when Nicky leaves. Well you obviously were not there tonight.
Keef you have 7 days to work a miracle in the transfer market otherwise I think you will out of work by the end of next month.
'I thought we would lose 2-0...'
Hi R&W - Swindon missed 2 gilt edged chances in the first 5 minutes. We got away with it at only 1-0.
Any Championship side tonight would have got into double figures.
The idiot set up with 2 wingers with Skuse and NK central. When is he going to realise, with our back 4, we just can't cope in that set up.
Millen's signings - Somebody please tell me what Woolford is all about. Taylor,Pitman and Stead were utterly useless.
There is something seriously wrong at the Gate and it starts and ends with Sextone and Millen.
Thought the 2 kids, Spence and Wilson did ok tonight.
Pretty obvious Millen hasn't got to them yet.
ps - A fan had a go at Maynard in the Williams at half time. Maynard, Fonts and Junior didn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.
Hard life for some.
Cant say im suprised we aint got passed the 1st or 2nd stage in the carling cup in over 8 years under 3 diff managers so why so shocked now lol. 33 players and cant sell on 1 & untill we can sell on players we aint going to be able to afford or the board wont let more money escape on a new managers wages. Nicky wont be gone before Jan bring on Donny and thats when ill do my moaning IF we lose.
No substancial backing until we have the new stadium. Unless we are bottom come January.

That comment makes no sense what so ever...
'Read, I know you find it difficult'.. pathetic, how old are you?
You cant get much more constructive than telling the absolute truth, tell me were a great cup side.
Here you go onefor il explain it simply, dont expect Lansdown to inject any money into the club now until we get the stadium, hes holding out. But if we are bottom in January he will be forced to.
That's plain stupid Lacy Boy..
What wait until we are more or less down and then inject money........I've never read so much rubbish in my life.
Also,
It's nothing to do with being a great cup side is it..??
With Millen in charge we will never be a great anything.
The board need to act now..it's still early in the season for things to still happen with a new manager.
Bring the crowds back......to at least stay in the Championship.....to have some hope for the future..
As it sits now....there is no hope.
But thats the point, we wont be bottom, wrong to change the manager now and like I said I cant see many new signings. Your so ate up with hatred for millen you dont see it any other way. This is what I mean with regards to Lansdowns lack of backing this summer, and my reason for it is that hes waiting for the stadium, so dont expect anything special until we get it, just have to settle for being a mediocre championship team.
http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/City-chairman-insists-club-fund-potential-new/story-13147485-detail/story.html
He isnt willing to invest this summer its clear, but by the looks of this article he may if forced to.
Still rubbish? Im going by what I read and the general impression I get, ie the fact that none of the players we have baught in have cost us a penny. What more can we expect, in two years time I dont expect Keef to be our manager but I do expect us to have a brand new stadium and still be in the championship. Until then stop moaning and look at the bigger picture...
Deja vous Onefor
Its the same conversations as last year.
With one vital difference.
This time we have a previous year to say deja vous about, which means we havent yet stepped up a gear, in fact its more or less the same (bearing in mind we are waiting for an upsurge in form).
Its still a little too early to move the manager on. A good run of 5 games and the mood will have totally changed.
I would give it until the end of October before donning The Black Cap. Its a big move replacing the manager, and not many will want to come to a club full of leaches and no cash. I say stick with Millen and ride it out. He will have better days.
LacyBoy
I don't hate Millen at all. He's just not got what it takes to be a championship manager.
If we go down the stadium will never happen..
Look, We all know that SL has the money, that's not an issue..It's what and how he chooses to use it that matters.
IMO....it's down to SL to make sure we stay in this division otherwise no stadium, no investment, no interest...back to what we were when SL came on to the scene..
BRR.
It is a big move changing managers and against what people may think I hate chopping and changing as much as the next person (I was not one of those that wanted GJ out).
But IMO Millen was rushed in on the cheap after the Coppell saga. And although it didn't work out with Coppel we needed that type of manager to take us forward.
Millen needs to manage a lower level club and build his knowledge. He is well out of his depth at this level, it showed last season and now it's the same.
SL, IMO needs to show again his commitment to the club and ensure us of at least survival in this division and then hopefully the stadium will get approved and we can move on from there.
I say again, we go down, there will be No stadium.
And if that happens I can Steve pulling himself away from the club completley
Fair enough, there is alot of substance to what you are saying now. I dont believe we will go down tho, alot of ups and downs for sure, probably more downs but thats what I feel we will have to accept. We are good enough, I maintain that but it wouldnt be fair to expect SL to invest heavily considering the clubs debt and the fact that hes put so much into the stadium. We are trying to do it the right way, not ploughing millions in and going for the gauntlet, it took us a long time to get out of league 1 and I expect it to take that long if not longer to move onto the next level.
The thing is not Steve Lansdown wanting to or not wanting to invest more of his money on players. It's a case of having 33 players & not being able to sell 1 of them to anyone & still we are paying high wages to players not playing. Somehow Keith has to sell atleast 12 players to buy in say 5 key players & thats not Millens fault its just a case of players we want to sell arnt playing so knowone can see what there playing abilty is like. Plus those same players if we arnt playing them then why should anyone want to buy. Personaly id ask Steve Lansdown to pay off some of those players like Hunt and a couple others bring in some season long loan signings in key possitions on season long loan like weve done with Spence with the help of Steve Wigley & hope we can boost our chances of finnish the season in the top 10. Thats the only way i can see us getting players in before Jan.
Maynard, Fonts and Junior didn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.
Hard life for some.
-------
I expect LJ was laughing and thinking "and they all thought i was crap and to blame for everything in midfield"
I think Keef, has treated LJ fairly poorly and its obvious Keef has excluded him to win favour! That, in itself is poor management.
I still cant understand why Cisse isnt playing.
Whats now worrying, is that Keef thinks Fonts will be a leader for us...oh dear!
Times up Keef! Derek McInnes come on down!
Mikee,
I know what you're saying regarding the size of the squad but my point is that I believe with the right manager, who is able to alternate style, adapt formations, tactics, ability, playing players in right positions, making right decisions at the right time, even with the players we have we could be a lot better.
A lot of these players that are mentioned arn't that bad.
As I've said before, I believe we only need a couple of players and we will be fine.
couple more players is not a big deal, it would be worth it just to make sure we stay up don't you think?
Of course the other way of seeing things, is if you are doing well as a club then all the players will become attracted to other clubs looking to strenghten.
If we are at the bottom of the pile, it will be more difficult to shift them on.
'I think Keef, has treated LJ fairly poorly and its obvious Keef has excluded him to win favour!'
Not obvious at all.
If Junior was 'decent' there would be managers wanting his signature.
Couldn't believe that Saints offered £800k - but even Fontaine has a value, a player of Junior's ability has none.
We wont have to wait much longer, his contract has to end sometime.
The club and league he winds up in will put the matter to bed.
'I still cant understand why Cisse isnt playing' -
Beggars belief, Millen has amnersia.
Not obvious at all.

Really?? Then why buy Kilkenny, a similar player? That says to me that he likes the style, just not the player. Which is wrong in my book. Like his other cheap statements "i know wha the fans want, wingers and stylish play, another Paul Hartley, a left back etc etc" They are all weak statements to curry favour in a blatant attempt to win friends, its not fooling me.
LJ has some value as a player and its nonsense to suggest he does not, Fonts has no value, the sale didnt go through and i wonder why? I suspect Saints realised they were spending over the odds for a duff player.
When LJ was a regular, we were a top 10 side, what does that tell you about this, LJ less side?
Results wins you favour and Keef seems incapable of getting them.
If i was LJ after years of abuse and now this, i would sit out my contract whilst laughing in the stands. He wont get a chance under Keef, who seems that he is too scared what people might say which is weak management, even if he plays well, which i understand he has in some matches in pre season, so he can hardly be that motiovated anymore and the rest of the squad hardly seem motivated either. All in all, poor management and nothing else.
One of the most disappointing aspects about last night was how some of our players, maybe most of our players seem to lack the very basic skills.
BALL CONTROL ! The likes of Pitman, Woolford and Skuse seem unable to control a football in less than 3 touches when they receive it, although after just a few matches Di Canio seems to have taught it to his players.
PASSING ! How many mis-placed passes ? How many aimless punts upfield ?
MOVEMENT ! When we have possession it is like watching a bunch of 6-year olds in the playground. No-one moves until the ball is played then the chase is on.
SHOOTING ! Apart from Nicky no-one seems to understand the concept.
Yes the tactics and formation were wrong. We all know that with our players we can not play with 2 in central midfield and 2 wide-men, I use the term wide-men loosely, (cut-inside-every-time men might be more apt). We learnt that lesson when Cardiff thrashed us at the Gate (how long ago was that?) and yet our manager still thinks it can work.
Watching City these days is devoid of entertainment and excitement. The ghost of Tony Pulis seems to have returned.
3 Home games, NO GOALS and we are frantically searching for 3 teams who could be worse than us. There is no enthusiasm left in the stands and we are only 3 games in. Most of us season ticket holders now feel as though we have been victims of a fraud.
We have a new Board but we have the same old problems.
My message to them.
