Atletico treated Europa league with respect whilst building an ethos. We should also.

IMO we should treat ANY competition we are in with respect
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most definitely...If you are a fan what's there not to like about watching a match that your team is playing. isn't that the point of supporting a team.

The more games the merrier for me. More experience for the team and young players. More experience for Poch, More revenue for the club to afford wages of players we think should be gracing our squad.

"But February games in the knock out stages are quite different to group matches."

You think Spurs will still be in with a shout of also qualifying for the Europa via their final PL position ??

Totally stupid of the OP!!

We should take seriously every competition and the Europa is certainly a very important one for us!

It's our level we aren't a top four club so this way we could still get another way to the CL!

Honestly Legue Cup and FA cup are easier to win than Europa league for us.

Do you really trust Spurs to put together 2 consistent performances int he knockout stages?

I'm just praying for a league cup final. That will do me fine for now.

Who knows? You might even get to the league cup final and not have to.

I really don't know what to make of Spurs this season, to be honest. I didn't think you were that good last season but you finished above us.

But you seem to have got even worse this year.

First six months at a new club can be difficult for a new manager so it's early days. But from what I've seen I'm not really sure how you even want to play.

Is that a fair comment or is there something distinct in your play that I've missed?

Agreed...Poch needs full season before he knows his best team. I was hoping Pre-season was all he needed....I was wrong

A full season to find out his best team!!!!! Well I hope its a full season before he picks up a wage packet then because if you or me took 9 months to work out what was needed in a new job we would be picking up our P45 after 9 days.

==============

A manager should not need a full season to know his best team.

Other clubs have new managers and can work this stuff out within a month or 2. I dont know why we think we are the only club who appoints a new manager or has a "player overhaul" from season to season.

I know we need to rotate here and there but we change our team whether we play well or not.

There can be a multitude of reasons why a manager is yet to know his best team. For example, in our case, we've just not had the players available for selection for the manager to consistently field it.

Not sure if Pochettino is facing problems such as these when it comes to Spurs.

I also think the idea of a best team isn't cut and dry especially if you have a manager that is willing to adapt his lineups and tactics for certain opponents because the 'best team' isn't strong enough to always play one way.

I think we also have an element of that at United too.

I would have more respect for this Competition if they did not allow the 3rd place or losers from the CL Group stages to join it totally devalues this Cup and having to put up with Sunday games which we invariably lose straight after totally hacks me off !!

Our history has been built around Europa, not CL. We are not too good for the Europa.

I agree its crap, but its all about the prize. a European trophy and CL qualification...

correct me if I am wrong, but isn't our aim at the start of every season to try to win a trophy and to qualify for the CL?

this competition offers both... but you don't want anything to do with it? strange

When we consider our history, we have three things that really stand out as massively impressive:

1st and only non-league side to win the FA cup.
61 double.
1st English side to win a European trophy (Europa).

Great competition.

Chronic - all of our successes that are shown on the giant screen are generally in Black & White I suppose Ricky Villa's winning goal in the FA Cup Final was in glorious technicolour !!

Then when the disdain for a European competition when most of your success are in black and white?
