Bill Maher is brilliant. He speaks common sense. Certainly a lot more than most of the people he parodies.

Bill Maher thinks that women who CHOSE to wear the hijab are brain washed.
Sound like common sense?
He also criticises Islam using Christian biblical concepts, not a good start if you are debating Muslim traditions.
Religious people leave themselves open to ridicule and can't handle when someone pokes fun at them.
I live in one of the most Muslim filled places in England and I get on with them well.I would genuinely fight any bnp person abusing them. I'm not anywhere near as anti religion as most fellow atheists but I do find that it's disturbing some religions react the way they do when mocked by comedians.

Yup a lot of religious people do over react but so does every human when they feel offended. I'm not excusing it, just saying that, that is the way we are built as people.
There are many debates between religious folk and atheists. I used to record some on the weekends to pocket some extra cash.
They never get exposure though, the only things that do get exposure are small crowds burning flags.
God is in everyone (allegedly) and, whether you believe in Him or not, nobody can deny this: if everyone was good to each other then nobody would have a chit life. It's kinda obvious without requiring any theology to back it up.

I think human consciousness, is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware, nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself, we are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self; an accretion of sensory, experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody is nobody. Maybe the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal.

Please, Bill Maher is one of the few people of influence speaking sense in the US these days.
He's absolutely right to challenge the limitations Republicans and Liberals are trying to put on free speech.
We all know religion is a load of codswallop invented as a means of controlling the ignorant. He's well within his right to criticise those liberals holding their silence on atrocities committed by radical "Islamists."
Those same fools who will criticise him, but won't speak out and condemn the likes of Hamas.

There were some ggod old religious nuts who once got a bit miffed with Chubby Brown, once.
He was doing a show in some place up north and the hall had a statue of Jesus hanging on the cross at the back.
The good old Geordie chubster says, " I here you have had a lot of trouble with burglaries up here, I see you got the b astard and strung him up:"
Apparently that didn't go down to well.

There is no God ... it's all fairy tales... 13.7 billion years ago was the Big Bang... there are billions of stars, planets , stars. Physics explains most things and the things it doesn't we just haven't worked out yet. Like Dark matter, Dark flow and Dark energy, inflation before the big bang, expanding universe and why Valencia gets picked every week for one of the biggest clubs on the planet !
We are born we die and that's it... all one great big accident.
